Absolutely fantastic, it's such calm and relaxed way to see 'how to' skagit cast. Lots of instruction videos out there but for me the simplicity and videography in real world takes the complication out. Thanks
Thank you , Me a beginner to the spey rod have thought most of the casting inructional videos are confusing. I figured if I can just watch somebody cast Skagit style I would gain much. And you knew that. All Your videos are simple and right to the point, easy to understand and cover basic questions about the subject completely. I find them refreshing to say the least. Bravo Sir.
Having been casting with double tapered lines I eventually went onto modern spey lines, even 60 footers seemed short to me with much stripping. I tend to be lazy and opt for the long belly with minimal of shooting line. Shooting heads are now part of my armoury even though a had a Airflo quick spey which i rarely used it until a trip to Inverness, the boys use Gael Force shooting heads and cast great distances with ease. I dug out a RAGE C600 line that i was given two years ago for a cast with a 13ft 9# wow, it went but the rod struggled a bit, a recent purchase of the rage 570 and 660 nows got me buzzing again and a Skagit purchase is on the cards for the early spring next year. Casting into the wind has now a new meaning, no more struggles ,just need more reels and a line tray
Really enjoy watching your videos Mr Charles, they have helped my casting no end and I have had quite a few good Salmon to show for it here in Scotland. Many thanks and tight lines!
Really great video. I was a bit sceptic about skagit at first. I loved the idea but was a bit worried about presentation. I'm a skagit addict now! I always go for my 11ft switch rod instead of my 15 footer. It's just made life easier. I can fish parts of the river that were impossible with conventional spey lines. I've also come to a conclusion that they cover a great deal more water than a spey line. I've studied your technique and it has really helped me out. Cheers Peter!
You most definitely can and I normally cast that way, but most of the experienced Skagit guys I've seen don't use their left hand, so I stayed with that approach for the video. I normally Spey cast and single hand, overhead cast with either hand as that really is the best way to go.
Very smooth and nice distance gotta try that

Why not use left hand up ?
