I am sensing the arrival of Autumn here in the Seattle area....seeing leaves on the ground and a drop in temperatures.....pumpkin spice season is coming!
So glad that you finally made it to my town of Chapala (my adopted home since 2010)! You made a great video, and the scenes are beautiful. You two should stick around here a while ;)
I am thinking of moving to Chapala with my family, but so far we haven't seen any videos of everyday life in the "Mexican" part of Chapala. All we see are touristy videos of the lakefront area, but no accurate portrayals of what life is like for the Mexican population there. Can you recommend any good videos that can give us an accurate idea of what life is like away from the lakefront? Thanks so much! BTW, I have lived in Mexico City, Cuernavaca, and some smaller towns so we are not strangers to Mexico.
Hi Laurence. Try a TH-cam search of 'Chapala Tianguis' and 'Chapala Central Market'. Those should give you a view of the weekly street market (tianguis)...which is most popular with locals for weekly shopping needs. Also, the municipal market is one short block from the water up the main boulevard. It is more common to see locals (fewer expats and tourists). The town isn't very large. The waterfront is not just a tourist destination. It is a regular part of life for locals. The main church is directly across the street. Many families walk the malecon frequently (lots of morning walkers/joggers). Also, many locals make their living at the waterfront (renting boat rides, vendors, etc...). I've often seen school children strip off their uniforms and take a swim after class. Aside from the main boulevard and waterfront, the side streets are residential... sprinkled with mom & pop shops.
Hi Katie, I am looking into visiting the Lake Chapala area for a couple of weeks later in the year or early next year (2020). Is there an area where I should stay that is easy to get around walking or public transportation. I am thinking about San Juan Cosala, but I am open to other nearby areas around the lake. I am also looking at buying a home there after renting for a while but I am on a tight budget so will probably have to be away from the heart of the city. Thanks, Joseph :)
I also have a You Tube channel: Joe On The Go RV Tech. Please check it out. On FB too and on Gmail. All with the same name. Maybe you could suggest a place for me to rent??? Single, just me. No pets. LOL. Thanks again Katie. :)
Hola amigos Goyo y Guera.....now that you are in the state of Jalisco, think about going to a town named TAPALPA.... up in the mountains.....to the south of the State ....great video.....thanks , enjoy !!!!
I love that I have found you guys. You’re an awesome couple! I’m enjoying your videos very much and I’m so happy you guys are visiting my state of Jalisco !! I was born in Guadalajara but have lived in Houston for 10 years now and I miss it sooooo much. Thank you for sharing this with us, it makes me feel so proud and a little nostalgic. Much love to you both ❤️
Kinetic Kennons, congratulations and thanks so much for making another excellently made video showing our area of Lake Chapala. You are are right about Ajijic, the majority of the expats tend to congregate in and around Ajijic, but Chapala also has quite a large and international mix of expats living in la ciudad de Chapala, but they tend to be less visible, compared to what you see in Ajijic. The two towns are very different from each other and I think you guys hit the nail on its head, Ajijic is more puebloish, more bohemian and possibly charming in a faux Mexican sense, but Chapala is more Mexican, bigger, equally charming but with a different vibe and feel, and I live in Chapala and I like it much better for living. When I want to go to Ajijic, it is just 10 minutes or so down the road. Some people have compared it to Mexico´s version of Carmel and Monterey, with Ajijic being Carmel and Chapala being kind of like Monterey, but that could be a big stretch.....In the video everything was great till you got to Chapala´s most famous building, the train station. You included everything but the train station itself, which is considered by many to be Mexico's most beautiful train station. So if you go back, please do the train station justice and please take a walk around the leafy park of La Cristiania. For a pointer, the Cozumel restaurant on the far western part of the malecón is a secret gem with many people claiming it to be the best food on the malecón and they also give free unlimited margaritas to those who ask. For another video idea of the area, you can go twenty minutes to the west of Chapala to the town of Mezcala and film the very interesting and historical island of la isla de Mezcala. That area has the highest mountains around the lake and is considered by many to be the most beautiful part of Lake Chapala, take a boat ride out to the island and soak up the history of the fort/prison, dating back to the days of the war of Independence! ¡Y que siguen viajando!
Don´t forget to take a boat ride to the two islands in the lake. The little one is from Chapala and the bigger one you can get from the next little town to the east. It has a old Prison on it really neat. Bring the drone with you. i don´t think Hillary will have a problem with the chop.
De Verdad que está hermoso ese lugar, todos los lugares que nos muestran son Únicos, cada lugar tiene su encanto... Saludos mis Amigous Gringous Goyo y Güera 😘
You guys should visit Mazamitla town or Cascada Salto del Nogal and Las Piedrotas in Tapalpa town, both towns are beautiful but Tapalpa is the most, I stay last summer there and I fell in love of their architecture and their kind people. Both towns are near Chapala, about 1 hour by car
ah you guys are the best. my mom is from chapala and i used to go down there as a kid, the best memories in my life were in chapala! i haven't been down there in 20 years or so, so it's nice to see what it's become. keep it up guys!
Kinetic Kennons are the best!!!!! Your videos make Tangerine Travels look pedestrian, you guys are actual well adjusted adults making excellent videos. Kudos Seriously!!!
I see,....Ajijic and Chapala are two distinct cities/towns, both located on the ribera of Lake Chapala. I was gonna ask you but its more than evident, seeing the boats out on the lake and the bronze statue of the fishermen with their net....but I'll be specific, do the fishermen of Chapala fish for the pescado blanco of Lake Patzcuaro fame? Or do they fish for some other species of fish? CONGRATULATIONS mi Goyo, mi Güerita Linda for getting that mexican tongue twister right! ;)
best birria ever...... Birrería Chololo. it's near airport next to VFG arena. a few minutes away from Chapala. only problem is that they are "cash only" and no atm is nearby
Hello Goyo & Werita!. I am glad you visited Ajijic and Chapala. Ajijic is my favorite place to visit when I want a place to relax. The perfect weather indeed. I wish I had gone on the same days as you guys. Running into you and say hello would be the coolest thing!!! Oh, and the tongue twister Goyo, you said it better than some Mexicans I know! Lol :)
Hey guys! I see your having a good time in Chápala. I wonder if you guys are going to have a meet up with the Tangerine Travels now that you are in their neck of woods?
We were just chatting with a young man (probably your age) at the movie theater and he really did not think they even drove cars in Mexico. I tried to educate him in the nicest way possible, but he didn't budge, so I dropped it. I was SOOO surprised and could not wrap my head around why he thought that so adamantly.
JC travel stories and the Tangerine travels both in Ajijic. Guys please make a get together to talk about everyone stories, travels on point of views. That will be pretty cool for all the follower fans bro. Please
You should meet tangerine travels, they also are a couple of "gringos" whose have been living in Mexico (most of the time in Guadalajara) for almost a year. They are currently living in Ajijic
I'm from Calvillo Aguascalientes but I've been there before and it's a awesome place saludos amigos thank you for showing us beautiful places from Mexico...
I like your video... is amazing... I was there two years ago... I remember everything about Chapala... when they visit Veracruz ... I recommend Orizaba.
worst sun burn in my life was there in Chapala ,I was mostly shirtless swimming in the lake and horseback riding like if I was buffed at 13 years old lol my burns turned into blisters and had to go see a doctor lol suffered it bad man lol I will never forget that time for not using sunblock or shirt and hat lol.
Greg, your quoting of the lines "RR con RR...." was just fantastic! I used to practice that a lot myself. The only part I did not remember was the part that says "cargados con azúcar"

I feel like I always comment this haha but I really enjoy your drone shots!! Now you really made me want to visit Chapala. I don't even know why we have never gone there considering it is pretty close to our hometown
sorry about that Michael. Maribel is correct, Villa del Angel. It is a beautiful place and we would highly recommend! Heres a link: www.villadelangelajijic.com/
Thanks for the info. I am always wondering what current weather temps are, great of you to include the month with the temp. I've considered Ajijic as expat community but did not know it was separate from a city named Chalapa. My concern is the quality of the Lake. I've heard no swimming and it's not a recreational Lake because of pollution levels. It concerned me further that it's known as a fishing village and the fish may come from lake, (I ❤️tacos de pescado, pescado frito). Do you have any information about this to share? The wonderful drone shows much haziness, as well as seeing it in distance from ground, what is that from, humidity? I don't think you need to meet up with tangerine, that's why I watch you guys over the TT, NT, JC, because you do best info and are entertaining! thnx for your videos amigos! 👍👋😃
What's the temperature in your neighborhood today? It's a perfect sunny and 75 (23c) here today!

They’re both great! They just have their own style of doing things (both couples) still cool
CaptainxCaos Both are equally good. And enjoyable.
I happen to enjoy KKs way more. It’s ok if others feel otherwise, there is just something about the TTs that turn me off.
They both have their own styles. I don't see the need to put down either channel. Goyo and Güera are the Gringo OGs en México.
Me encantan sus videos Hilary y goyo 👍
