Beautifully chosen video for beautiful music. When one compares this to the demotic pap we are asaulted with daily one gives thanks for the brief apercu into the blessed provided by such as Taverner. A gifted opener of the door to beauty.
John Taverner, who composed this piece, died in 1545! You're thinking of his descendant, John Tavener, who died in 2013. And yes, may they both rest in piece!
In the US we have more college grads than a 30 yrs ago, and far fewer who can read a simple line of music. Our churches have given up their music traditions, to follow the pop culture, and its garage band genre. Schools, be they public or self selecting private, offer music primarily as a recreation activity, and then rarely ever expect the students to learn to read music or develop it to the fullest potential. And lastly those institutions which once had great or modest boy choirs have abandoned them as they are uncomfortable with the fact that boys posses a gift of a high clear toned voice. The sports agenda dominates, almost as though adults want the boys to loose that vocal quality as early as possible.
Westron Wynde cantus firmus is so like Henry VIII's Passetyme With Good Companye. Has no-one noticed this? He plagiarised it but no-one dared say so at the time!!
Humbling. Sublime.

Sorrow I share. A lament that has resounded down the ages.
Truly beautiful. May I ask what is the video? Thank you for allowing us to listen to Taverner's beautiful, haunting music.
For this video I used the documentary film about Wales. But unfortunately I can't remember its name. I am glad you liked the music.
