The tan paste you ate is Harees. It is a bulgar wheat and chicken slurry. It is often eaten to break the fast during Ramadan. It is sad you didn’t get a chance to try chapati with cheese or a lemon mint drink. Those are my two favorite things to consume at the Souk. I have lived in Qatar for 7 years and love to hangout in the Souk.
We are headed to Doha in a few weeks and can’t wait to try all these foods!! Thanks for sharing - you helped us build out our list of “must try” foods!
