Worth noting that as of April 3 (when I bought one) the D8 is rated ipx6 and has a tf card reader for phone free music playing (plus the battery is 8000mah and Bluetooth is now v 5.0)
A friend of mine purchased the W-KING D9 a couple of weeks ago and I have to say -- its clarity sounds ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE and it has enough bass for my liking. I just ordered mine an hour ago, thus, my D8 will be collecting dust.
The D9 is my most favorite speaker of all time. I like it better than my Apple HomePod. Sold away my Megaboom was not going to need it any more after I bought my D9. Which paid for my W-King D9. Have had 2 people buy D9 off of Amazon after they heard how good my D9 sounds for a very good affordable price!
Iv got 2 d9 and omg it's the best purchase I ever made my d8 is great for portability but I love the extra volume as well as micro SD card slot and more bass on the d9
Could the X10 screeching be reduced by lowering the 2.5K boost and gently restoring the rolled-off treble above that via the music player's EQ? Or would it still be annoying. I listen to acoustic music like Jazz, rock, folk.
i love the sound of the d8 than my old jbl xtreme 1, i can hear a bit of low bass or mid bass when listening to system of a down, prodigy, korn, Metallica and disturbed its much more full bodied 60 to 70% volume..imo

You sold me on the D9's audio quality, but I really like the form factor of the D10 better (plus the extra battery capacity and wattage would be a bonus). Love the reviews and in depth information. Would be grate if you stated your own table with scores , that way it will be clearer to see how all those speakers stack up to each other , like for instance Dockin D fine against JBL Xtreme2 , W-KING D9, SONY Xb43 etc. Great work ! Thanks

i'm a sound engeneer. got a D8 2 years ago when there was almost zero rewievs around but i thought it could be an interesting product so i bought..and it was a great cheap BT speaker in the end. it worked 2 years then quitted take charging. amazon refund me and i got the new d8 version. its slightly different in buttons design and im pretty sure sounds different too but i cant confirm this at 100% cause i dont have that old model anymore.. but im pretty sure is not the same. i dont see anyone around youtube talking about this btw

@@Silverpump well i'm not sure 100% but to me sounds with less bass on low volume and MAYBE less punch on higher volume. Its ok in the end, the previous version required me to equalize everytime to cut off a lot under 100HZ. Now sounds better in terms of equalization overral but not sure about general max power. i wish to have both and do a comparison :(

Hi! Big Thanks for this review! I just got this speaker, no Idea which firmware or if the frequency response differs from yours, however I agree with you that this speaker sounds a little harsh for my taste in some genres, although in some genres I really like the tuning of the speaker and the sound, but in some rock-songs the harshness just gets in the way to much after listening for a while. My Two Bose Revolve Plus II speakers blows this speaker out of the water completely when it comes to sound quality, but I got this speaker to bring on the beach anyways, because I dont want to bring my pricey Bose speakers to the sandy beach since I primarily use them for backtracking outside when I'm singing operatic duets with my soprano friend. In other words two expensive speakers for work, and one cheap for a fun day at the beach, perfect:) Have a nice day!:)

I'm switching from 2 d8s to 2 d9s.. I really did like the clarity of the D8. But I want the volume of the d9.. so hopefully with some custom EQ I can get the d9 to sound a bit brighter.
I’m looking to buy a Bluetooth boombox but after hearing a bunch of different brand, it left me perplexed and confused and can’t tell which is best. I like a loud stereo sound, a little bass but not over the top. I was going to purchase the JBL boombox 2 (but pricey), then decided to look around a bit more and that’s when I got confused.
Well, I guess the X10 didn't live up to the hype. It does have an aux and card reader I would have liked on the boom but, for me, the sound is the most important factor. You seemed to favor the D9 the most between 3 in this video and you already did a comparison between the D9 and boom so I think it's easy enough to extrapolate that the boom would trump all of these in sound (even if not overall volume). Awesome job again, Alan! 😁👍
Oh nice, looks like s JBL boombox, for the party it's ok, but for this price it's really nice, I'm still waiting a motion boom with tweeters and 45 watt
Today I want to order a loudspeaker and I don't know which one to choose so that I won't regret it. I have a dilemma between w-king d8 vs soundcore motion boom. I care about the audible, stronger, soft (expressive) bass with a clean sound and that it sounds relatively loud. 🙂
I haven't done this, but I have seen some people buy several speakers. Compare them in person and return the ones they don't like. This is costly since you have to afford both at the same time and get them delivered within a reasonable time.
I guess I'm still kid with 38 years of age because I have a X10 ..and its a great speaker using an equalizer it will sound to its fullest and for $116 and a discount of $18 in Amazon. Is a no brainer. ✌
two booms would give a wall of sound. one x10 would be fun and loud. but with your budget you are into boombox territory and they are too big for me but might be perfect for you?

What is the difference between the w-king d8 models, that one has a control panel with round buttons and all black and the LEDs are on the left and the others are square and the POWER button is red, LED indicators are on the right ...?
nothing mate just the design i think,,read about a person bought 2 of them at thesame time and arrived one old model "all black buttons" and one new model "w/ colors on buttons and leds" he said he paired with no problem..
If you own one of these items you probably don't need any of the other ones. In fact it would make more sense to double up and then you can play them in stereo.
X10 is as disappointing as D9. I'm wondering if they really try to tune their speakers or if they just put drivers in an enclosure and sell it... (I know T9 sounds great but it seems to be a fluke at this point)
I mean it's worth noting that these are super budget speakers, too. But the d-8 and the d9 very well received in reviews. How much of that is because of affiliate links I don't know
Idk if you all have hearing issues but the two x10s I have sound incredible. Enough bass to shake tbe walls of my apartment. My charge 5 has better highs but not a massive difference. 1 x10 is like a charge 5 on steroids. I measured bass down to 40hz. The D9 sounds like shit compared to the X10. The X10 has far more bass and it goes much deeper. What more do you people want for a speaker under $100. I was disappointed in my T9. I retuned it. My x10s are more impressive. They go deeper then the T9 and have a more mature warm resonating bass. Its very nice sounding
Trying to decide between the D8 and D9 (15 euro price difference), I'd go with Soundcore Boom if it had AUX in. X10 didn't sound great to me here, at least to my taste.
Probably depends on the volumes you listen at as tuning quite different. D8 more bass heavy at lower volumes while d9 holds up better at higher volumes.
@@alanrossreviews Thanks, maybe D8 then, due to neighbours I can't listen 'too' loudly :D Also, I kind of worry that the D9 with just shatter if dropped, doesn't look as sturdy as the D8, I'll mostly be using the speaker in an art studio. Great comparison! Do you know the difference between the D9 and the D9-1? I think you mentioned in another video the difference between the X10 and the X10-1 was a smaller battery and they dropped fast charging. I hope this isn't a growing trend for W-King.

Incase you ever felt like hearing what others are saying about the D7 before you have your say. You can even probably even just type w-king D7 and I'm pretty sure those are the only 2 vids I've seen on it...matter fact I think I'm going to go have a listen to my d7 right now..lol. side note I've ordered the tribit max sound plus based on what you and alot of others have had to say about that little banger. I wanted something that compared the the flip4 in terms of on the go sound, and the tribit seems to fit the bill especially since there is a black Friday discount here in Canada on it right now...KK now that I'm done rambling..any other thoughts on the tribit? I didn't want to go bigger than a flip4 for that option.
Yeah the T9 is a monster indoors, it wasn't best for using in a plant environment. Sitting it on the hilo and blocking the woofer port. Either way, in home it slapped really hard. Sadly I had to return it because I need my speaker for work. I already have a home monster in the Aiwa Exos 9.

The new W-King loudspeaker will not be your new champion for the time being. In the end, the Motion Boom is too strong for that, especially at 80 dollars it is much cheaper.

Anyone with android go to settings... go to sounds and vibrations... then go to sound quality and effects....then go to adapt sound.... hit under 30 yrs old option... it boosts the highs and makes the x10 and d9 vocals shine.... Alan if you have Android please do this and you will hear night and day difference on the x10 and d9 gaurantee it would change your thoughts on it..

but im always telling you guys mah is meaningless without voltage and really just work out the watt hours which is mah times voltage. so there isnt two kinds of notations just the companies wanting to make their batteries look bigger by quoting a 3.7v equivalence

Your videos give me a gnawing suspicion that, in worse hands, the components jbl buys would have the range and fidelity of a supermarket PA. In *my* dream the people at Anker "recruit" a couple of hapless Harman Kardon sound engineers who were in Hong Kong for a short holiday, and Soundcore emerge as our new speaker overlords.
@@alanrossreviews A bit more seriously: from my rudimentary knowledge of the millennia of animosity between China and Japan, I'd bet my mum that while Japan was going from a producer of cheap knockoffs in the 60s to undisputed king of high tech in the 2000s, China was pretending to look the other way while taking notes. Waiting patiently, and letting the japanese make all the mistakes so they could learn from them. Keeping their best products for the internal market, for example, is a mistake China is definitely not making with their latest tech. My motion boom reminds me of that every day.
Alan.... another great video ... I myself fond the x10 to make that boom sound like a baby...... small and weak..... but I will add if anyone sees thus comment who has an android phone for me I kept the d9 and the x10 on outdoor mode at all times then I go into my note 20 ultra to sound settings.... hit the adapt sound mode.... then I hit the option of under 30 yrs old which helps to boost the highs...... when doin that .... to my ears it made the d9 and the x10 shine.... still get all the bass ya want but it really kicks those 2 tweeters in and takes it from sounding good to phenomenal..... Alan not sure if you have Android or not that has this but to you and others it makes a huge difference and again in my opinion..... makes both untouchable for sound in many price ranges including some 2x to 3 x as much as what they are. With a bit of EQ, the D9 (in my opinion) absolutely smashes the motion boom (sorry Alan). The soundcore app is second to none, and the best feature is how it saves the custom EQ directly to the soundcore's internal memory, independently to music/radio /streaming apps. The D9 out of the box sounds veiled and wooly. Doesn't have the spatial quality or the transparent midrange of the motion boom, and doesn't seem to have the bass extension either. What it does have, in droves, is power. The bass, even before EQ, resonates through my desk and vibrates the floor. The larger drivers and amp provide a ridiculous amount more headroom, and the claim of the boom having deeper bass is a load of old pony. Play some 94 jungle through the D9, then a/b it against the motion boom. The boom has boosted low(60-120hz maybe) bass, but the D9 goes down to below 40 hz, and goes for a stroll at these frequencies which shows how powerful it is. The motion boom also has some weird bass anomalies, where a given bassline will just drop off to almost zero DB at certain frequencies, and quack and bottom out at others. Don't get me wrong, the boom is fantastic for the price, and the software developers have done a great job with the app, but the D9 has it massively beat in terms of hardware, and there's plenty of options for aftermarket EQ out there. I'm using the Poweramp music player with built in EQ, and it sounds amazing. It has an added 'stereo expand' DSP adjustment, which gives it the same clarity and spatial separation you get from the motion boom, so with these easy tweaks, you now have the clarity, tone and DSP boosted diffuse wide soundstage you get from the boom, and you get the ridiculous power, headroom, and superior lower bass without the weird bass artefacts you get from the motion boom. I've spent days weighing up the pros and cons of both speakers, and had I not bought the D9 during the black Friday sales to compare, I'd have been more than happy with the motion boom, but I stupidly got tangled up in 'post purchase syndrome' and here's my conclusion. If you're after a semi portable, great sounding speaker that spanks most of the more expensive 'heritage' branded competition, buy the motion boom. Sounds great out of the box, even better when you dial in a custom EQ. If you want to spend a bit more for a bulkier, heavier and less portable speaker, don't mind downloading a few free EQ apps or music players and want something that almost defies the laws of physics and can shake the floor with honest unboosted bass, without sacrificing vocal clarity or top end, the D9 ticks all your boxes. Do what I Did. Buy both, compare. Tweak, compare again. No comparison in my opinion, but it's all about what you need out of a BT speaker.

I just got this speaker, no Idea which firmware or if the frequency response differs from yours, however I agree with you that this speaker sounds a little harsh for my taste in some genres, although in some genres I really like the tuning of the speaker and the sound, but in some rock-songs the harshness just gets in the way to much after listening for a while. My Two Bose Revolve Plus II speakers blows this speaker out of the water completely when it comes to sound quality, but I got this speaker to bring on the beach anyways, because I dont want to bring my pricey Bose speakers to the sandy beach since I primarily use them for backtracking outside when I'm singing operatic duets with my soprano friend. In other words two expensive speakers for work, and one cheap for a fun day at the beach, perfect:) Have a nice day!:)

I'm switching from 2 d8s to 2 d9s.. I really did like the clarity of the D8. But I want the volume of the d9.. so hopefully with some custom EQ I can get the d9 to sound a bit brighter.

I’m looking to buy a Bluetooth boombox but after hearing a bunch of different brand, it left me perplexed and confused and can’t tell which is best. Well, I guess the X10 didn't live up to the hype. It does have an aux and card reader I would have liked on the boom but, for me, the sound is the most important factor. You seemed to favor the D9 the most between 3 in this video and you already did a comparison between the D9 and boom so I think it's easy enough to extrapolate that the boom would trump all of these in sound (even if not overall volume). Awesome job again, Alan! 😁👍

Today I want to order a loudspeaker and I don't know which one to choose so that I won't regret it. I have a dilemma between w-king d8 vs soundcore motion boom. I care about the audible, stronger, soft (expressive) bass with a clean sound and that it sounds relatively loud. 🙂

I haven't done this, but I have seen some people buy several speakers. Compare them in person and return the ones they don't like. This is costly since you have to afford both at the same time and get them delivered within a reasonable time.

I guess I'm still kid with 38 years of age because I have a X10 ..and its a great speaker using an equalizer it will sound to its fullest and for $116 and a discount of $18 in Amazon. Is a no brainer. ✌

What is the difference between the w-king d8 models, that one has a control panel with round buttons and all black and the LEDs are on the left and the others are square and the POWER button is red, LED indicators are on the right ...?
nothing mate just the design i think,,read about a person bought 2 of them at thesame time and arrived one old model "all black buttons" and one new model "w/ colors on buttons and leds" he said he paired with no problem..

If you own one of these items you probably don't need any of the other ones. In fact it would make more sense to double up and then you can play them in stereo.

Idk if you all have hearing issues but the two x10s I have sound incredible. Enough bass to shake tbe walls of my apartment. My charge 5 has better highs but not a massive difference. 1 x10 is like a charge 5 on steroids. I measured bass down to 40hz. The D9 sounds like shit compared to the X10. The X10 has far more bass and it goes much deeper. What more do you people want for a speaker under $100. I was disappointed in my T9. I retuned it. My x10s are more impressive. They go deeper then the T9 and have a more mature warm resonating bass. Its very nice sounding

Trying to decide between the D8 and D9 (15 euro price difference), I'd go with Soundcore Boom if it had AUX in. X10 didn't sound great to me here, at least to my taste.
Probably depends on the volumes you listen at as tuning quite different. D8 more bass heavy at lower volumes while d9 holds up better at higher volumes.

Great comparison! Do you know the difference between the D9 and the D9-1? I think you mentioned in another video the difference between the X10 and the X10-1 was a smaller battery and they dropped fast charging. I hope this isn't a growing trend for W-King.

Incase you ever felt like hearing what others are saying about the D7 before you have your say. You can even probably even just type w-king D7 and I'm pretty sure those are the only 2 vids I've seen on it...matter fact I think I'm going to go have a listen to my d7 right now..lol. side note I've ordered the tribit max sound plus based on what you and alot of others have had to say about that little banger. I wanted something that compared the the flip4 in terms of on the go sound, and the tribit seems to fit the bill especially since there is a black Friday discount here in Canada on it right now...KK now that I'm done rambling..any other thoughts on the tribit? Yeah the T9 is a monster indoors, it wasn't best for using in a plant environment. Sitting it on the hilo and blocking the woofer port. Either way, in home it slapped really hard. Sadly I had to return it because I need my speaker for work. I already have a home monster in the Aiwa Exos 9.

Just wondering why they bother with sturdy builds on the Boom and D9 if the rads aren't protected like on the D8, wouldn't they be easily damaged?
not easily, of course its there to be smashed but ive travelled a lot with a bunch of these exposed rads and not had an issue.

The new W-King loudspeaker will not be your new champion for the time being. In the end, the Motion Boom is too strong for that, especially at 80 dollars it is much cheaper.

Anyone with android go to settings... go to sounds and vibrations... then go to sound quality and effects....then go to adapt sound.... hit under 30 yrs old option... it boosts the highs and makes the x10 and d9 vocals shine.... Alan if you have Android please do this and you will hear night and day difference on the x10 and d9 gaurantee it would change your thoughts on it..
but i cant do this for reviews, i have to keep it all clean so you get the differences between them...

Your videos give me a gnawing suspicion that, in worse hands, the components jbl buys would have the range and fidelity of a supermarket PA. In *my* dream the people at Anker "recruit" a couple of hapless Harman Kardon sound engineers who were in Hong Kong for a short holiday, and Soundcore emerge as our new speaker overlords.
@@alanrossreviews A bit more seriously: from my rudimentary knowledge of the millennia of animosity between China and Japan, I'd bet my mum that while Japan was going from a producer of cheap knockoffs in the 60s to undisputed king of high tech in the 2000s, China was pretending to look the other way while taking notes. Waiting patiently, and letting the japanese make all the mistakes so they could learn from them. Keeping their best products for the internal market, for example, is a mistake China is definitely not making with their latest tech. My motion boom reminds me of that every day.

I myself fond the x10 to make that boom sound like a baby...... small and weak..... but I will add if anyone sees thus comment who has an android phone for me I kept the d9 and the x10 on outdoor mode at all times then I go into my note 20 ultra to sound settings.... hit the adapt sound mode.... then I hit the option of under 30 yrs old which helps to boost the highs...... when doin that .... to my ears it made the d9 and the x10 shine.... still get all the bass ya want but it really kicks those 2 tweeters in and takes it from sounding good to phenomenal..... Alan not sure if you have Android or not that has this but to you and others it makes a huge difference and again in my opinion..... makes both untouchable for sound in many price ranges including some 2x to 3 x as much as what they are. The d8 was awful. The d9 was the most balanced with nicer bass, mids and vocals. The last rock song they all sounded screechy.
yes the track did not sit well with these budget boomboxes, vocals for me on x10 just too poor.
X10 is absolutely horrible. D9 is the most listenable but far from perfect.

With a bit of EQ, the D9 (in my opinion) absolutely smashes the motion boom (sorry Alan).
The soundcore app is second to none, and the best feature is how it saves the custom EQ directly to the soundcore's internal memory, independently to music/radio /streaming apps.
The D9 out of the box sounds veiled and wooly. Doesn't have the spatial quality or the transparent midrange of the motion boom, and doesn't seem to have the bass extension either.
What it does have, in droves, is power. The bass, even before EQ, resonates through my desk and vibrates the floor. The larger drivers and amp provide a ridiculous amount more headroom, and the claim of the boom having deeper bass is a load of old pony.
Play some 94 jungle through the D9, then a/b it against the motion boom. The boom has boosted low(60-120hz maybe) bass, but the D9 goes down to below 40 hz, and goes for a stroll at these frequencies which shows how powerful it is.
The motion boom also has some weird bass anomalies, where a given bassline will just drop off to almost zero DB at certain frequencies, and quack and bottom out at others.
Don't get me wrong, the boom is fantastic for the price, and the software developers have done a great job with the app, but the D9 has it massively beat in terms of hardware, and there's plenty of options for aftermarket EQ out there.
I'm using the Poweramp music player with built in EQ, and it sounds amazing. It has an added 'stereo expand' DSP adjustment, which gives it the same clarity and spatial separation you get from the motion boom, so with these easy tweaks, you now have the clarity, tone and DSP boosted diffuse wide soundstage you get from the boom, and you get the ridiculous power, headroom, and superior lower bass without the weird bass artefacts you get from the motion boom.
I've spent days weighing up the pros and cons of both speakers, and had I not bought the D9 during the black Friday sales to compare, I'd have been more than happy with the motion boom, but I stupidly got tangled up in 'post purchase syndrome' and here's my conclusion.
If you're after a semi portable, great sounding speaker that spanks most of the more expensive 'heritage' branded competition, buy the motion boom. Sounds great out of the box, even better when you dial in a custom EQ.
If you want to spend a bit more for a bulkier, heavier and less portable speaker, don't mind downloading a few free EQ apps or music players and want something that almost defies the laws of physics and can shake the floor with honest unboosted bass, without sacrificing vocal clarity or top end, the D9 ticks all your boxes.
Do what I Did.
Buy both, compare. Tweak, compare again.
No comparison in my opinion, but it's all about what you need out of a BT speaker.
