Just picked up a second d10 and all I can say is Wow! 2 D10's in TWS sound excellent and get loud. Exceeded my expectation. Sounds way better than just one. Also really like your spectrum analysis graphs. Very good information!

Screw it, Im gonna get the D10 since I feel this is the best tuned and sounding W-King regardles size. Its 65 usd here, a steal. The rest of the w-kings sound like crap in comparison. Another outdoor banger for me!

Awesome review. Your reviews are always fair and honest. For me, the T9 was a more pleasant listening experience of the two. Hopefully that review is in the works! After trying a few brands of speakers I was sold with the Monster Adventurer Max. Opinions are always speculative and I don’t have testing equipment but the monster is such a pleasant listening experience. It also comes with a decent mic “Karaoke king” lol.

@@alanrossreviews Oh yeah definitely not the best tuning. Should’ve clarified with “Good tuning” relative to the other W-Kings near it’s size. The T9 is still the best to me personally.
There is one important thing you should mention about the D8: Since about 2 years there is a new version of the D8, which has different buttons design on the top, a card slot, a bit bigger battery and WAY LESS BASS! The missing bass is quite disappointing! Also there is a problem with the stereo link: You cannot link the old version with the new version. So if you have a pair of the old ones for stereo linking, and one of them breaks, you cannot get a replacement speaker anymore to link to the old version. So you have to buy two new speakers to do a stereo link again. What a bummer! Just got the D10 here now - what a disappointment! Compared with the old D8 version, the mids are louder, the kick bass drum is louder, but the deep bassline instruments are less! Its almost like just the D8 in EQ mode.
I'm not interested in any of these but I agree the D10 is the best of the lot. I have my eye on the Tribit Stormbox Blast. The Boom+ is still a possible for me depending on what Soundcore's done on their most recent firmware update but I'm leaning more towards the Blast. @Ben Jammin OK. But I'm curious as to why. The only definitive advatages I see of the Boom+ over the Blast is the fact that it's lighter and cheaper. From what I've seen so far the Blast justifies the price difference, though.

TH-cam can be a maze, and finding useful reviews can be a lottery. So however I ended up here in my search for a solution to my bodgy mobile mic/guitar amplification requirements, I'm glad I did! Real sound quality matters, and your analysis is top notch. Thanks for what you do. 👍 I could do with the D10 being a little lighter for my schlepping around, but it'll be easier to lug than my 4.4Kg "proper" lumpy amp, and real life is always a compromise. Oh, and I absolutely agree.... strap not handle!!!! I may saw it off... surely there's no wiring in there? 😱😁

D10 seems like pretty good value really. I have the D8 and while I agree it sounds kinda naff, it's a good basher. But the D10 has a much nicer sound in comparison.
Cool review. It has a microphone jack? Holy crap. Karaoke machines are a big thing for many families where I'm from. The D8 has had a few updates to it over the years, its the newer ones have a TF card slot and I think they might be tuned a little different too. The guts are still the same though.
Gaaahhhh the D9 looks so much better then the D10, but hell i might have to give the 10 a try because I dont like how fragile the 9 is and it has a tendency to indure itself by moving at higher volumes.keeping those damn lights off that's for sure😅

As a DJ with decades of experience, outdoor mode is superb and much appreciated in these small battery powered speakers. In an outdoor space with a battery powered speaker you want to deliver the best sound you can with the biggest sound coverage area you can. Boosting mids and highs while dropping lows slightly has basically no effect on perceived bass (at distance ie: backyard bbq/party) while sounding much louder and projecting further all while using about the same amount of energy. On the flipside if your outdoors but everyone is close to the speaker it will sound much better and more balanced using the indoor mode. What I would like to see on future models is the ability to interact with the DSP in these speakers via an app on our mobile devices.
well yeah we would all love to get direct access to the dsp but not sure that will happen. too many issues working within the limits of the drivers to give everyone a free hand i think. at least we are now getting several brands giving a reasonably flexible multi band graphic eq via an app. hard to know if its sitting on top of the dsp or being embedded though.

I love your videos, Alan. The arguments you had with Oluv were ridiculous and I feel you came out on top. Leaning more towards your videos now. If I could make a humble suggestion, though. I'd like to see in your future comparisons, you play the same sound clip repeating over the speakers, rather than just continue the song. There was a bass drop in your 75% clip, for example, that was on the D9 and I would have liked to hear it on the D10. Either way, was going to upgrade from the Tribit Xsound GO to their Maxsound Plus, but now I'm thinking the D10. I do listen to a lot of Djent, and Nu-Metal, though, and it sounded a bit harsh or boomy on that example.
oh yeah d10 is a whole different type of listen. id still rather than the stormbox blast though or even motion boom. two motion booms and you are good to go.
@@alanrossreviews I grabbed the d10. Actually sounds pretty good but has some quirks. Bass boost mode sounds terrible at low volume. It boosts bass, cuts treble and sounds muffled. Past about 30-40% volume the highs come back and it's more balanced and very punchy. Bass boost off is useful at lower volumes where the mids and highs are still present.
Hello Alan, how would you rate the D10 vs the Stormbox Blast? Different league for the Blast? If the difference is close enough than the D10 is at least $50 cheaper.
But I think the price difference is much more. You can almost get two D10's for the price of one Blast. But the Blast sounds better in a comparison I watched.
I would like to buy mb + and I would like to know how much the new update improves and is it possible to finally listen to this speaker without this 6khz?
i have a video about this nearly ready. yes it is a better listen but also not as loud as when we first tested it due to the reduction in mids and highs over last two updates.

Well I never sat down and listened to any review with just W-King speakers but today I said let me but my opinion aside for a bit. And yet I still hate W King sound signature since my ears are very sensitive plus I like deep bass and they doint offer that either. Still enjoyed your review on them had a good laugh 😂 Also I just uploaded the Motion Booms against the Sony xp speakers if your interested 😁

Thx 4 the nice video!^) The x10 seems still the best 4 putting 2 into a backpack 4 festival beeer-camping stage etc but allways need to have a powerbank with, cause the x10 makes overall so nice boost on SPL ^^ depending on the battery... into a backpack it getting realy hot into a back by 2 but not badways...but after a festival with 3 days and avery day 3 powebanks each (6PB per day 4 2 x10s :D) sometimes the passive radiator is stickin too, like the boom + but in a backpack its not necessary noticable change 🙈 its the best "xtreme" speaker overall 🙌 but they can put really a double as much installed battery 🙈

He should wait until he gets bb3 bcoz i heard the bb2 new update reduces deep bass which can even favour the bb3. Jbl is intentionally doing this to make the bb3 stand out even more.

looked like the d8 had a shadow of a TF slot, could be a mistake and it got covered by the speakers housing and no hole was cut for it?, ive had a few devices come like that, not any W-KING products tho, my d8 has a TF slot
Alan I hear you quite often say “It doesn’t matter if you have 3, 6, or a million passive radiators, they need to be sized to the woofers” I want to know why?? Hard to get a definitive answer besides answers off the internet saying “You want double the surface of your woofer/driver” TLDR: Why do PR’s need to be sized to the woofers. Why do most people claim that you need double the surface of the driver/woofer. What’s the negatives and positives of a sized pr, compared to one with a larger surface area???
because they are driven by the internal air pressure of the woofers as they move in towards the inside of the enclosure. You want to use that air pressure and so you have a finite power source in other words so whatever you do you can only work with that.

Hello i was wondering if you test your speakers after a break in or straight from the box ? ...... Bcus i got me a d10 and a X10 and i did not like how they sounded at first but my coworker told me to run a break in track so i did for 4 sets of 4 hours to try and break in the speaker and I've noticed a difference on how it sounds it sounds clear and it's super loud ....i got a tribit storm box but i like the w-king better i don't like how the stormbox volume goes from very low to super high in one step ....
Just got a D10 in the mail today and I'm surprised how well it holds up against two motion booms so far...it's weird that you have to crank the volume to max on the speaker itself and then on your mobile device to get maximum volume I know that's what you had to with some older speakers its just surprising to see that on a modern bluetooth speaker :p
doesnt it remember the volume after you turn it on again? mine does,. w-king does this a lot with there speakers, it means its a bit more bass heavy if you dont max the speaker itself out. the dynamic eq thinks its at a lower volume. thats how it was on the d8 anyways.

This is my first experience with a W-King product I was tempted to get a T9 off Kijiji but then I saw the priced marked down on the D10 via Amazon from $235 to $149.99 plus a $30 coupon which brought the total down to $135 ($104.98 USD or 87.59 GBP) so I figured I'd give it a shot

So Soundwise what would you say is better about the Stormbox Blast Alan? It looks to have a similar tuning except the blast has that odd drop at 6K which the D10 doesn't have. EDIT - ah, but the Blast does go deeper. That's significant.

Does the d10 have more bass then the d9? I have the d9 and thr bass is pretty good but I heard the d10s bass is lower then the d9. Also they both sound very similar is it worth it paying the extra money for it as opposed to the d9?
For some reason I could never get enthused about W-King. Is it me or does it seems like all their speakers are slight variations of themselves? Could this be an example of market cannibalization?🤔 😂 I do have to say the T-9 did spark my interest and that’s mainly because I don’t have a party speaker in my lineup. Plus, I like the price, size, form factor and bass (not deep I know but more than adequate). But then I quickly lost interest when I found out that it wasn’t water/dust proof. It’s not even water resistant 😳. Shouldn’t that be a prerequisite for all portable bluetooth speakers?
Yeah. W-King pretty much handicapped the T-9 by giving it a port. And now they have the T-11, which looks like the bigger brother but isn’t ported. So water and dust proof. But it’s way too big for my needs 😒
well they sound different, the d10 is fuller but more hollow sounding, typical of w-king. The mifa is brighter and tighter and i would say a more pleasant listen but the d10 sounds a bit bigger but duller in comparison.
Hi sorry for my bad English I am planing for purchasing bluethooth speaker. My music taste mixed I am currently using protronics sound pot which is a 5 w speaker. Now i am planing to buy JBL speaker since i love jbl sound signature also i don't get any chance test other speakers I end up at flip 4 or charge 3.. My doubt Is there any distortion in in charge 3 .. How is low's compared to flip 4
I have a newer version(its black) of the d8 the buttons closer together and less rounded and it has a tf card but there is also a version with no nfc but does have a tf card, personally i don't find a tf card slot useful for speakers. Edit: it also has a slightly bigger battery
@@alanrossreviews what i have noticed is the one i have starts with the louder eq setting every time you turn it on, which is very annoying and has a significant mid reduction. The first version of the d8 got significantly louder everytime you turn on eq 2 but mine gets a little louder.
i hate the fact that you never know where you are with their speakers because of the multiple firmwares they use without letting you know what formware you are on.
Are you not gonna make any more videos on the Uboom L ...? I'm not sure why the highs on uboom l sounded pretty bad like scratchy, dirty and grainy when in some other videos on youtube it sounds kinda right and clean with the original firmware. The speaker probably needs a lot of warm-up before it gets its highs kinda right. Oluv did post the OG firmware frequency response on his channel. But not that big of a peak on the high-end like you got. Freaking speaker quality variation seems more like 10%. On the other hand, on that video in your recordings the motion+ had smooth open clean highs. I think you're setting the mic too close, even at 1 meter it should capture more noise than we actually hear when playing at higher volumes. So it should sound more natural if you adjust the distance between. Motion plus does sound very smooth when you put the mic close and right in the middle. As the highs are not coming straight, the mic doesn't represent the full potential of the tweeters. I think this is why the highs sounded like there is night and day difference. Anyway why he didn't keep the treble flat for indoor mode as he talks about natural sound. Motion+ has natural slope/roll-off on the highs, which is why .............. !!!
No my mics are not right in middle. Everything i do is aimed at capturing the speaker and nothing else. Played back with headphones using a flattish harman curve (the actual curve is not flat) should give you a sense of inroom response. Similarly on neutral speakers in an average room should give a sense of what it will sound like. Of course big speakers will make it sound bigger and vice versa etc. Of the speakers you actually have and i have recorded how close do you find it? Personally i know of no other channel that correctly captures the speaker being recorded. Whether its inadequate mics, recording gear, lack of post processing, failure to decouple or simply recording everything off axis, there is so much in terms of variables to getting this right. In terms of oluv, of course his recordings are full of room modes, everything is recorded off axis, no decoupling, no acoustic treatment and everything referenced to his ears. I feel my recording did capture the true nature of the highs, my own uboom does have overly bright treble.
I put that to him, how is he calling the highs natural. His answer was that it is in line with loudness curves. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of loudness curves and when they are useful to eq to.

nah! i cant even keep up with the bluetooth speakers and i dont have any equipment to properly record headphones and even then its so variable how each unit sounds to an individual its not something that interests me to be honest.
Worst bluetooth speaker I've ever had was the Bumpboxx Ultra plus. Sure it was really loud but it sounded like shit. If it sounds like shit who cares how loud it is. All the reviewers who said it was a great speaker most be tone Def.It had a big radiator across the back like the D9. But they did not seal anything. Air escaping every were. Took it back after 3 days. Whoever buys it next at least your bass radiator works, I sealed everything on it for ya..

Awesome review. Your reviews are always fair and honest. For me, the T9 was a more pleasant listening experience of the two. Hopefully that review is in the works! After trying a few brands of speakers I was sold with the Monster Adventurer Max. Opinions are always speculative and I don’t have testing equipment but the monster is such a pleasant listening experience. It also comes with a decent mic “Karaoke king” lol.

There is one important thing you should mention about the D8:
Since about 2 years there is a new version of the D8, which has different buttons design on the top, a card slot, a bit bigger battery and WAY LESS BASS!
The missing bass is quite disappointing!
Also there is a problem with the stereo link: You cannot link the old version with the new version. So if you have a pair of the old ones for stereo linking, and one of them breaks, you cannot get a replacement speaker anymore to link to the old version. So you have to buy two new speakers to do a stereo link again.
What a bummer!
Just got the D10 here now - what a disappointment! Compared with the old D8 version, the mids are louder, the kick bass drum is louder, but the deep bassline instruments are less! Its almost like just the D8 in EQ mode.
I'm not interested in any of these but I agree the D10 is the best of the lot. I have my eye on the Tribit Stormbox Blast. The Boom+ is still a possible for me depending on what Soundcore's done on their most recent firmware update but I'm leaning more towards the Blast. @Ben Jammin OK. But I'm curious as to why. The only definitive advatages I see of the Boom+ over the Blast is the fact that it's lighter and cheaper. From what I've seen so far the Blast justifies the price difference, though.
The blast is simply better, deeper bass, not as tiring to listen to but more expensive and much heavier

TH-cam can be a maze, and finding useful reviews can be a lottery. So however I ended up here in my search for a solution to my bodgy mobile mic/guitar amplification requirements, I'm glad I did! Real sound quality matters, and your analysis is top notch. Thanks for what you do. 👍 I could do with the D10 being a little lighter for my schlepping around, but it'll be easier to lug than my 4.4Kg "proper" lumpy amp, and real life is always a compromise. Oh, and I absolutely agree.... strap not handle!!!! I may saw it off... surely there's no wiring in there? 😱😁

D10 seems like pretty good value really. I have the D8 and while I agree it sounds kinda naff, it's a good basher. But the D10 has a much nicer sound in comparison.

The D8 has had a few updates to it over the years, its the newer ones have a TF card slot and I think they might be tuned a little different too. The guts are still the same though.

As a DJ with decades of experience, outdoor mode is superb and much appreciated in these small battery powered speakers. In an outdoor space with a battery powered speaker you want to deliver the best sound you can with the biggest sound coverage area you can. Boosting mids and highs while dropping lows slightly has basically no effect on perceived bass (at distance ie: backyard bbq/party) while sounding much louder and projecting further all while using about the same amount of energy. On the flipside if your outdoors but everyone is close to the speaker it will sound much better and more balanced using the indoor mode. What I would like to see on future models is the ability to interact with the DSP in these speakers via an app on our mobile devices.
well yeah we would all love to get direct access to the dsp but not sure that will happen. too many issues working within the limits of the drivers to give everyone a free hand i think. at least we are now getting several brands giving a reasonably flexible multi band graphic eq via an app. hard to know if its sitting on top of the dsp or being embedded though.

I love your videos, Alan. The arguments you had with Oluv were ridiculous and I feel you came out on top. Leaning more towards your videos now. If I could make a humble suggestion, though. I'd like to see in your future comparisons, you play the same sound clip repeating over the speakers, rather than just continue the song. There was a bass drop in your 75% clip, for example, that was on the D9 and I would have liked to hear it on the D10. Either way, was going to upgrade from the Tribit Xsound GO to their Maxsound Plus, but now I'm thinking the D10. I do listen to a lot of Djent, and Nu-Metal, though, and it sounded a bit harsh or boomy on that example.
oh yeah d10 is a whole different type of listen. id still rather than the stormbox blast though or even motion boom. two motion booms and you are good to go.
@@alanrossreviews I grabbed the d10. Actually sounds pretty good but has some quirks. Bass boost mode sounds terrible at low volume. It boosts bass, cuts treble and sounds muffled. Past about 30-40% volume the highs come back and it's more balanced and very punchy. Bass boost off is useful at lower volumes where the mids and highs are still present.
Hello Alan, how would you rate the D10 vs the Stormbox Blast? Different league for the Blast? If the difference is close enough than the D10 is at least $50 cheaper.

And yet I still hate W King sound signature since my ears are very sensitive plus I like deep bass and they doint offer that either. The x10 seems still the best 4 putting 2 into a backpack 4 festival beeer-camping stage etc but allways need to have a powerbank with, cause the x10 makes overall so nice boost on SPL ^^ depending on the battery... into a backpack it getting realy hot into a back by 2 but not badways...but after a festival with 3 days and avery day 3 powebanks each (6PB per day 4 2 x10s :D) sometimes the passive radiator is stickin too, like the boom + but in a backpack its not necessary noticable change 🙈 its the best "xtreme" speaker overall 🙌 but they can put really a double as much installed battery 🙈

Why do most people claim that you need double the surface of the driver/woofer. What’s the negatives and positives of a sized pr, compared to one with a larger surface area???
because they are driven by the internal air pressure of the woofers as they move in towards the inside of the enclosure. You want to use that air pressure and so you have a finite power source in other words so whatever you do you can only work with that.

Hello i was wondering if you test your speakers after a break in or straight from the box ? ...... Bcus i got me a d10 and a X10 and i did not like how they sounded at first but my coworker told me to run a break in track so i did for 4 sets of 4 hours to try and break in the speaker and I've noticed a difference on how it sounds it sounds clear and it's super loud ....i got a tribit storm box but i like the w-king better i don't like how the stormbox volume goes from very low to super high in one step ....

Just got a D10 in the mail today and I'm surprised how well it holds up against two motion booms so far...it's weird that you have to crank the volume to max on the speaker itself and then on your mobile device to get maximum volume I know that's what you had to with some older speakers its just surprising to see that on a modern bluetooth speaker :p
doesnt it remember the volume after you turn it on again? mine does,. w-king does this a lot with there speakers, it means its a bit more bass heavy if you dont max the speaker itself out. the dynamic eq thinks its at a lower volume. thats how it was on the d8 anyways.

This is my first experience with a W-King product I was tempted to get a T9 off Kijiji but then I saw the priced marked down on the D10 via Amazon from $235 to $149.99 plus a $30 coupon which brought the total down to $135 ($104.98 USD or 87.59 GBP) so I figured I'd give it a shot

So Soundwise what would you say is better about the Stormbox Blast Alan? It looks to have a similar tuning except the blast has that odd drop at 6K which the D10 doesn't have.

Does the d10 have more bass then the d9? I have the d9 and thr bass is pretty good but I heard the d10s bass is lower then the d9. Also they both sound very similar is it worth it paying the extra money for it as opposed to the d9?

I do have to say the T-9 did spark my interest and that’s mainly because I don’t have a party speaker in my lineup. Plus, I like the price, size, form factor and bass (not deep I know but more than adequate). But then I quickly lost interest when I found out that it wasn’t water/dust proof. It’s not even water resistant 😳. Shouldn’t that be a prerequisite for all portable bluetooth speakers?

Yeah. W-King pretty much handicapped the T-9 by giving it a port. And now they have the T-11, which looks like the bigger brother but isn’t ported. So water and dust proof. But it’s way too big for my needs 😒

well they sound different, the d10 is fuller but more hollow sounding, typical of w-king. The mifa is brighter and tighter and i would say a more pleasant listen but the d10 sounds a bit bigger but duller in comparison.

I have a newer version(its black) of the d8 the buttons closer together and less rounded and it has a tf card but there is also a version with no nfc but does have a tf card,
personally i don't find a tf card slot useful for speakers.

@@alanrossreviews what i have noticed is the one i have starts with the louder eq setting every time you turn it on, which is very annoying and has a significant mid reduction. The first version of the d8 got significantly louder everytime you turn on eq 2 but mine gets a little louder.
i hate the fact that you never know where you are with their speakers because of the multiple firmwares they use without letting you know what formware you are on.

Are you not gonna make any more videos on the Uboom L ...? I'm not sure why the highs on uboom l sounded pretty bad like scratchy, dirty and grainy when in some other videos on youtube it sounds kinda right and clean with the original firmware. The speaker probably needs a lot of warm-up before it gets its highs kinda right. Oluv did post the OG firmware frequency response on his channel. But not that big of a peak on the high-end like you got. Freaking speaker quality variation seems more like 10%. On the other hand, on that video in your recordings the motion+ had smooth open clean highs. I think you're setting the mic too close, even at 1 meter it should capture more noise than we actually hear when playing at higher volumes. So it should sound more natural if you adjust the distance between. Motion plus does sound very smooth when you put the mic close and right in the middle. As the highs are not coming straight, the mic doesn't represent the full potential of the tweeters. I think this is why the highs sounded like there is night and day difference. Anyway why he didn't keep the treble flat for indoor mode as he talks about natural sound. Motion+ has natural slope/roll-off on the highs, which is why .............. !!!
No my mics are not right in middle. Everything i do is aimed at capturing the speaker and nothing else. Played back with headphones using a flattish harman curve (the actual curve is not flat) should give you a sense of inroom response. Similarly on neutral speakers in an average room should give a sense of what it will sound like. Of course big speakers will make it sound bigger and vice versa etc. Of the speakers you actually have and i have recorded how close do you find it? Personally i know of no other channel that correctly captures the speaker being recorded. Whether its inadequate mics, recording gear, lack of post processing, failure to decouple or simply recording everything off axis, there is so much in terms of variables to getting this right. In terms of oluv, of course his recordings are full of room modes, everything is recorded off axis, no decoupling, no acoustic treatment and everything referenced to his ears. I feel my recording did capture the true nature of the highs, my own uboom does have overly bright treble.
I put that to him, how is he calling the highs natural. His answer was that it is in line with loudness curves. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of loudness curves and when they are useful to eq to.
I was gonna do the uboom l firmware update as next video but after oluv through his toys out of the pram he can go f-&k himself 😁👍

Its hard to compare cause of different firmware but my d9 has major tuning issues

this is the biggest problem when making videos like this, how representative are my speakers compared to everyone elses 🤷♂️

Well, I guess the D10 sounds less-cheap than the other ones... The treble is such a hot mess in these W-King things. Maybe they are "tuned" for the beach or something? Gotta cut through the sound of the surf lol...

blast goes deep, d10 very upper bass but two d10 will be a lot louder
D10 almost has too much bass. I think the D8 sounds best, D10 second place

nah! i cant even keep up with the bluetooth speakers and i dont have any equipment to properly record headphones and even then its so variable how each unit sounds to an individual its not something that interests me to be honest.

Worst bluetooth speaker I've ever had was the Bumpboxx Ultra plus. Sure it was really loud but it sounded like shit. If it sounds like shit who cares how loud it is. All the reviewers who said it was a great speaker most be tone Def.It had a big radiator across the back like the D9. But they did not seal anything. Air escaping every were. Took it back after 3 days. Whoever buys it next at least your bass radiator works, I sealed everything on it for ya..
