  • Has Jordan Cunliffe been treated fairly or is he the victim of manipulation of the justice system?
Arrested aged 15 and blind, Jordan was convicted of murder. Even though he could not see or hear what was happening, he was the only other child, in a group of about 10, who was convicted along with the two whose actions caused the death. Jordan was in custody for over 13 years, from the day of his arrest until a year after his minimum of 12 years had passed. During that time he had a transplant to regain some vision in one eye.
Following his release on licence he has been, and remains, subject to draconian restrictions on his movements, which prevent him from visiting any of his family. The complexity of his restrictions keep a constant threat of re-imprisonment over his head. He had a previous conviction for shoplifting but no other convictions and no history of violence and yet, until recently, he was categorised as Level 3, the most dangerous of prisoners, along with terrorists and serial murderers.
To make this more understandable, here is some background.
The victim of the murder was the husband of the woman who is now Baroness Newlove, Deputy Speaker in the House of Lords. Through campaigning following her husband's murder, Mrs Newlove became close to both Labour and Conservative politicians. She was elevated to the House of Lords and served for a decade as Victims Commissioner for England and Wales. Decisions about his probation are influenced by submissions by Baroness Newlove to the probation service, which Jordan and his family are not allowed to see. The probation officer insists that Jordan is not being treated any differently from other similar offenders.

The only victim here is Gary Newlove..where was this mother when her thug son was wandering the streets at night?

I expect he's as much a liar as his mother. She did an article a couple of years ago in the Guardian claiming he was a nervous wreck in court. Rubbish. He as well as the other pond life that murdered that poor man, were playing up in court, laughing & messing about, with ZERO remorse.

through press and social media I was well aware of Jan Cunliffe and Jengba but this is the first time I've heard of the details of Jordan's case. I just can't believe that the fact he was blind was withheld from the Jury. Whatever was his Barrister thinking of? A cautionary tale though. The British so called adversarial system at its worst. Nobody can foresee the future, there would not be a gambling industry if they could

He wasn't blind. It's like saying I'm deaf because I am 90% deaf in one ear. He was able to go out at night & hang out with his mates without a guide dog or white stick.
