  • On November 24, 2015, the annual Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) Trans-Expo event took place in Montreal, Québec, Canada. This is where bus manufacturers and suppliers showcase their product for display for transit officials to see.
Alexander Dennis featured their newest version of their double decker bus product, the Enviro500 "Go-Anywhere" model, by "borrowing" OC Transpo's newest double decker bus (that is presently on order and delivery) for the Trans-Expo event. This is bus 8110, one of the 37 units that OC Transpo is expecting to receive (numbered 8101 to 8137).
Here is a walk around of the new bus. Note that there are slightly more seats on the lower level compared to the 2012 order (buses 8001 to 8075) due to the removal of the Maintenance Access Door.

Yes, and I understand they are the "Super Lo" buses (even lower than these new OC double decker buses).

The Victoria BC Transit double-deckers don't have bumpers.

Not enough padding for passenger safety.

I find that in the back on the first floor, it is very uncomfortable for someone to be across from you.

This double decker transit buses are the worse thing for Ottawa Ontario.
I hope OC Transpo will stop ordering these ever again.

Worst ergonomic design for driver that I ever seen. Climate control is located right under driver's left elbow. You don't any chance to adjust the air temperature or change the mode while you driving. Steering column can be adjusted only when parking brake is engaged. There are lot of small things that make you driving process very uncomfortable.

I take it that you are an operator who have driven these 8100 series buses.
If so, in your opinion, are the 8000s better?

@@octranspo9137 I deal with 1900 and 2100 series. Both of those have a "heavy" steering wheel and insufficient climate control.
