I had not crocheted since I was a kid and I'm 65! A friend in my neighborhood hosts a monthly crochet, knit, and whatever-you-do afternoon at her house and she invited me to attend. She found this video and sent it to our group. I loved the headband and so I crocheted two of them, one for my daughter and granddaughter. I chose a very soft yarn that's variegated purples and grays. They live close to the Smoky Mountains so these will be cozy warm for them. I'm going to mail them this week. Thank you for the inspiration and the excellent how-to! (I don't use instagram so no address included.)
I'm so excited to find a different stitch! I've been crocheting for over 40 years and finding something a little more challenging is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Your Demonstration was easy to follow & I appreciate that you have the camera where what you are doing can clearly been seen. First time doing this stitch, thank you!!
I've watched and tried to follow several other people's videos demonstrating the herringbone stitch, and this one is the easiest to follow, with the best explanation and demonstration of the stitch that I've found. Thank you so much.
Love that you are sooo exact in your explanation and showing how to do the stitches. I'm 78 years old and its help me learn new stitches, old dog sort of thing. My mother taught me to crochet and I have learned so many new stitches, wish was still with me, cause we enjoyed doing things together. I think about her every time I learn a new stitch. I love your channel, your awesome. God bless ,and stay safe. 🙏🙏👍👍👍👏👏👏😍
As a lefty, stitching the herringbone in reverse felt so natural. This stitch is super fun, can't wait to finish my ear warmer and see how it turned out!
Me too! Every tutorial out there are mostly the right handed ones and i managed to follow them with being lefty and doing it the opposite way, still works! 😆
This is so cute! I love the fishtail 🐟. I had to start over again 3 times tho because it was too small 🤪 after failing to calculate correctly how many cm I have to do (we do not use inches in Poland so I could not measure the chain in inches) I just decided to just measure is by trying it on around my head. Tip for anyone who has bigger head and not so elastic yarn: when you do your chain, add a few chains too much at the beginning. The needlework would "shrink" a bit after you do 2-3 rows of this stitch. It will be perfect at the end 🥰
Thank you for sharing your earwarmer pattern ... Your instruction is so smooth & easy to follow ... I will be making so many of these ... 6 Granddaughters 💕
Brilliant tutorial. Only downside is I started to follow it from your website and from my phone, it was not easy with technical issues. I'm glad I found it on TH-cam. I have subscribed. Thank you.
Really love the look of this stitch! It manages to make a worsted weight yarn look chunky and it’s so cute! You taught the stitch very clearly, thank you!
oooh its so cute! thank you! love the knitted look of this stitch! ima make another one, nice and wide like yours--i was using scrap yarn unraveled from a prior fail! very easy to follow, thanks!🙏💖
Lovely! I couldn't get the hang of the stitch and I'm making one for tomorrow (we're going camping and it gets cold at night) so I decided to just do HDC in BLO. Gives it a beautiful ribbed texture! But thanks for the tutorial! Could never figure out how the twist worked. Hoping I can pull it off without messing the whole thing up.
Beautiful pattern & teaching, but I'm afraid I would not have the coordination to do it. I would get all twisted & turned around. Thank you for the time. I did enjoy watching you work.
WONDERFUL pattern and excellent tutorial. You are a great teacher - and it is so nice that you did not work fast. My mom is 92, quite spry & you'd never know her age to look at her---she was watching to see this, and LOVED your presentation. Especially the* smushing* together the 4 layers - that was so very helpful! PS Mom says to tell you - she caught this at the very beginning ---"the word SKEIN has a long A SOUND ---pronounce the word "skein" like this: SKANE, not SKEEN :-) "
I'm a beginner crocheter and I'm left handed...love your pattern but I'm struggling do to fact it's right handed & I'm left. I did get 4 rows completed but I lost a stitch somewhere. Started 79 and 4th row had 77...so had to rip it out.
I would recommend using any worsted weight #4 you prefer to work with just make sure your gauge is correct. A good substitute is Brava Worsted shrsl.com/3vvgl
I’m so sorry but I cannot find the pattern on your blog. I am only seeing it for the hat. Is there a link to the ear warmer pattern? I’d love to make this for a toddler and child. Thanks!
I made two of these, one using a thicker yarn and for an adult, it was too tight for me, and one using worsted weight and the pattern for the adult, it didn't even fit my 6 yr old niece.
;; idk why this is so confusing for me. I feel like I would have an easier time to just clip the yarn and just start the row over again. On the right side. Idk. Imma have to watch this like a ton more times.

Absolutely splendid! This pattern turned out to be so similar to one knitted, but thicker, just gorgeous!

This is wonderful ❤️ thank you 😍🥰 so much
Bellissimo tutorial! Una domanda, si lavora l'ultima catena?
This is a beautiful stitch and you are such a good teacher. Thank you for this tutorial ♥️🧶
Beautiful!! Where to get the leather tags from.
I get my tags from brickbubble.ca
This is beautiful...thank you! 💕💎💕💎💕💎💕💎💕✝️
Do you have this video in a two tone color ?
Do you mind sharing What the little gold things that you’re using to keep the tag in place are called? 😊😊
Amazing good job 😍😍😍😍💕💕💕💕💕⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
Love this. May I ask what kind of rivets you are using? Seems no hammering was required.
Wow thank you 🌻😍
Hi! how long should it be for adult size?
I have to make these for an adult (79 chains), a 4 year old, a 5year old and a 9 year old(a family). How would I make the kids version of this
Can you use a different stitch other than the Herringbone stitch?
Trying to find the vendor for the tags. The one posted isn’t available? Thanks
I get my tags from brickbubble.ca she takes custom orders so they should be available.
Is there a left handed video of this???
Which color did you use? It’s beautiful and the headband too
Mist and thatch
Can the adult size be made larger?
Yes! Go with about 3 stitches for a 1” bigger head size. I go over this on the blog.
Loved this look, thanks for a great tutorial, and learning a new stitch, wonderful xxx

How do I access the blog please? Thanks 🙂

Can u please tell me what I am doing wrong? The knot isn't really very defined when I put it on my head. Is it too short?
Where is your crochet hook from? It is so cute!

Is there other yarns you would recommend for this pattern?
I would recommend using any worsted weight #4 you prefer to work with just make sure your gauge is correct. A good substitute is Brava Worsted shrsl.com/3vvgl
@@mjsoffthehook Thank you so much.
Thank you… you taught the stitch well. A nice project to get me back into crochet. 🧶 Marijke 😊
Is there a written version of this pattern?
Yes, The link to the blog and links to buy the pattern are in the description box
Ty very much for responding and ty very much for this beautiful pattern
I could not find free pattern to print and try this. Went to blog it says go to ravelry but it’s $5.00. not free :(
I’m so sorry but I cannot find the pattern on your blog. I am only seeing it for the hat. Is there a link to the ear warmer pattern? I’d love to make this for a toddler and child. Thanks!
www.mjsoffthehookdesigns.com/harvest-twist-ear-warmer/
why is my half double crochet too tight? I cant pull back the hook after yarning 1 loop
I made two of these, one using a thicker yarn and for an adult, it was too tight for me, and one using worsted weight and the pattern for the adult, it didn't even fit my 6 yr old niece.
Your gauge must be way off. You need to adjust your hook to meet the gauge.
Gauge: 8 sts and 6.25 rows equal to 2″ with 5.5mm crochet hook in hbsc
Confused. What do your abbreviations mean? What does "HET," "ER," "ET," mean?
I’m not sure what you mean? Maybe you’re reading the auto subtitles. The pattern is free on the blog with the listed abbreviations there if that helps
@@mjsoffthehook The Thumb-nails have those letters at the end.
I love the yarn, I haven’t found anything similar in the Uk so guess I will have to stump up nearly £20 in postage costs. 😢
Where did you get the leather tags with your logo?
Brickbubble.ca
@@mjsoffthehook thank you!!
