The "max" on the upgrades is just telling you what the total upgrade you'd get for purchasing all the ranks would be without having to do the math yourself.

The purchasable upgrades levels are referring to the levels that you can buy. What you pick up in game are stacked on top of those levels, so maxed out lucky level gives you +30% luck, then I think you can get 4 or 6 levels of lucky clover while in game that adds 10% more for each one on top of that. And yes, it's possible to get more then the normal amount of items but only a chance from grabbing chests. I got two extra utility items from a 5 item chest once.
Would probably be better to say "increases x per rank" to prevent confusion

Your videos got me to buy this. I've definitely gotten more than my $3 of entertainment/fun out of it. I just completed a run very similar to this one where the game told me I was done. Love that feeling if getting say far the game had to cheat to kill me. Really an excellent game and I'm going to suggest it to everyone I know

Your character gains an additional projectile at 20/40/60. You noticed power uptick but didn't seem to notice from what, or you just didn't say from what. But there it is.

Another example why simple (but focused) design makes for great games.
Note that Garlic is about a thousand times better in the Library than in the forest. Far more enemies can just be walked through in the Library than the Forest. The entire first five minutes of Library, Garlic insta-kills everything. This gives you a big head start on leveling.
I cannot stress enough how balance does not equal fun. It can help fun, but it can also hurt fun.
Luck affects lots of stuff, including chests, torch drops, crits, and special event procs. Permanent upgrades aren't referring to character level, but upgrade level. Luck, Magnet, Armor, Might, Speed, and +1 Projectile are good choices to just max all of those.
The Library is the best map. Green gem near spawn for instant level 2, can use furniture to herd waves, and there are items to pick-up in either direction, left for tome, right for mask.
The Duplicator pick didn't help, because evolved weapons don't get extra projectiles and the character was already giving bonus projectiles. The Cross didn't help much either since the Meteors outshine it for the same role. Garlic can still deal with weak hordes on this level.

Ah damn, so for Mortacio would it be better to pick the non-evolving weapons like lightning? And maybe get the Cross but not pick up a Clover? Seems like such a waste for the +3 projectiles to not apply to most of your weapons. Is there a max number of projectiles even for the non-evolved weapons?
@@theblasblas evolved weapons do get bonus projectiles as the sword has a base of one projectile but ended up with three at lvl 40 for the skeleton.
Tome as in the cooldown decrease or the bible weapon?
one thing to note, meta upgrades get more expense as you get more meta upgrades, so at the beginning of the episode the duplicator was 8000, it's probably over 10000 now.
I respected my purchases and go the duplicator first because it is the only thing so expensive that it is difficult to get
just keep in mind that this is a 0.2 version. impressive
As far as I'm aware, the clover's luck increase does two things. The first is that it increases the chance for a level up to let you select from four items rather than three, and the second is that, when you have the evolved whip or the evolved cross, it increases the chance for them to land a crit (the evolutions have a crit chance, and the luck stat impacts that chance). Though, of course, I'm typing it on here, and you've made, like, 20 more videos on this game since this one, so I may just be saying stuff you already know.

How to upgrade/evolve the weapons.
Some of the Achievements are to upgrade some of the weapons.
In order to do that you have to get them to level 8, and have the corresponding nonweapon item then kill a boss to get a chest, after meeting the criteria you'll get the upgraded weapon
Axe + Candelabrador
Cross + Clover
Fire Wand + Spinach
King Bible + Spellbinder - This is the best weapon by far
Knife + Bracers
Magic Wand + Empty Tome
Whip + Hollow Heart
For those just now starting the game but watching this video right now, there are some extra evolutions that have been added.
Santa Water + Attract-orb = La barre
Pentagram + Crown = Gorgeous Moon (absolute best weapon when paired with tome)
Runetracer + armor = NO FUTURE
Lightning ring + duplicator = Thunder Loop
~here’s some I don’t remember the names for the evolutions~
Garlic + Pummarola
Shadow Pinion + Wings
Red and Blue guns + Tiragisu
Gatti Amari + Stone mask
Bones bounce from walls but have no bounce limit, therefore that tiny corridor makes your character an absolute raid boss! Choke point indeed.
The catch is, you can't be both a morning person and an evening person. You can either be exhausted when you wake up, or after 3pm.
Can anyone provide more games that can have "busted runs" as opposed to being reliant more entirely on skill? These games (like Vampire Survivors) seem a bit more casual and I"d be interested to discover more of them.
Nova Drift is a great example! Runs get pretty silly pretty fast.
as wander said, monster train is usually an amazing example of it, sometimes gunfire reborn (though rng must be on your side), the last spell, and SNKRZ.
I think the permanent upgrades are plus x per level for a total of y, and then you start a run with that total plus any upgrades you pick up.
Garlic is meh in the garden where monsters are tanky, but in the library everything is weaker and more so garlic turns you into a steam roller. xD
garlic is better in the very beginning of the forset since the bats are insta killed by it, but it quickly drops off.
Mowing through those mobs is so satisfying.

you can refund all golds to do a new arrangement of purchasing. A little suggestion, always purchase the amount which will raise the amount of all projectiles by one.

In the library if you go up and left there's a green orb on the table you can grab for a fast level up. Also in my experience the level 2 whip is great like the axe in one regard: you can always rely on them to crack a candle instead of firing at something random. Garlic also serves this function well. Also your tunnel vision is hilarious. As for the powerup menu, the 5% max is 2.5% from each level of that, the items in game aren't affected.
A roguelike that I think does "become busted really easily while still maintaining a semblance of balance" is surprisingly Inscryption, getting a fecundity warren on a poisoned campfire run leading into an insane combo of "4/4 warren that can infinitely generate copies of itself" is extremely entertaining, especially with magpies and ouroboros involved

garlic is much better in the library, because it keeps the exploding ghosts away
when i reached thirty minutes on my first attempt in the game.
it grew every monsters size to triple.
and threw endless wearwolfs and mantis at me.
or maybe it wasnt thirty minutes i was at.
Throw the cross in the opposite way you want it to attack cuz it’s boomerang range is infinite
afaik the cross throws towards the nearest enemies so while not impossible to aim still kinda tricky
Risk of rain 2 is one of those games that gets really broken, the biggest reason why is most items either don’t have a limit to how much they can stack or such a high limit it doesn’t usually matter, using a few artifacts makes it even more broken

I found this little game deceptively fun. Just needs another layer of combinations and some texture variation/optimisations to reduce the grass/parquet floor ugliness

@Wanderbots The absolute best example of a game that is a test of knowledge and getting stupid broken is Noita. was the first thing I thought of at least.
I wonder if you can kill the reaper. If you keep a freeze power up next to you until 30 minutes and pick it up as soon as enemies despawn you can possibly freeze him and attack. He may just be immune to freeze though.
He does freeze, but eventually a second Death will come out, then a 3rd until they gang bang you.
It is per level you put into it, so it is max 5%
Did you find this room easier than the first one? I was able to finish this library room on normal and hyper but still unable to complete the first forest stage
Felt that too
Though I think it is mainly due to the Forest mobs being tankier, but slower, which results in you getting pushed away from the exp you made when the mobs show up in mass.
Makes for a satisfying end though, when I finally beat it with Whip guy, both birds, daggers and don't remember... maybe clover and lightning
@@JerbilKonai Just finished it now. Evolved axes are crazy, also got fire wand upgraded and garlic up to the max. Survived the whole 30mins until something came and killed to finish the stage
Felt the same way. The enemies definitely have more health and I think them spawning on all sides plays a factor too
next time always get bombard; by not getting it you messed up huge AOE potential. also-it tells you...luck improves what you can get for lvl ups (4 instead of 3), and what you get from chests
knife is the best weapon....if you get 5 projetiles+ 10% damage for base attack at level 4 it's killing everything. And if you evolve it it's ridicilous.
And needs aiming, which you'd think is a bad thing, but when everything else is unaimed you realize that a focus fire weapon has its merits.
But as Wander put it "hit or miss" ^^
@@JerbilKonai yeah, good for melting bosses, but other weapons tend to get alot more damage then it, even when unevolved.

This game is incredibly fun
It is crazy how busted you can become in this game. I bought the game today and i have survived for 30 minutes and reached level 100 allready. Inlaid Library is the easiest level for me
I just got a 30 minute run, and clover was my least damaging skill. Everything else had 1.3-2.5 million total damage. My clover was just 130k
i really want to see a 6 upgraded weapon run

Dont really understand how to get past 2 evolves. Had em like 15 times and never ger more. Has it been capped ?
Does taking the health instead of money on level up increase your max? Or only heal you to max?

There is a game like this one, graphics are poo but.... Concept is exactly the same, 'Magic Survivor' I think it's called, but you just survive as long as you can.
Candle opera is sooo bad, it will cost your life late game.
