This man's story would be repeated all up and down the North&South, Scotland and Wales.
Northern Ireland too, check out most of Great Victoria Street and Royal Avenue in Belfast city centre. If you visited on name alone you would be disappointed, absolute dereliction everywhere just left by the council and greedy landlords.

I was just going to comment, I was on Union Street recently, for the first time in a while. Even the tumble weeds were lonely...shocking.
Half a century of oil & gas money passing through the city with nothing to show for it, straight into the pockets of oil companies and councillors.

I was just reminiscing with my brother about the film, Spring and Port Wine on Sunday. Starred James Mason, Rodney Bewes, Hannah Gordon and Sussn George. If memory serves Diana Coupland too. It was a clash of eras drama.
He's spot on, there's absolutely nothing to come in to town for, plus most people can't be arsed waiting hours for a none existent bus service. Shame.

I watched that play Spring and Port wine at the octagon last Friday it was great. Unfortunately Mick is right Bolton has gone downhill rapid.
A lot of younger people have played there part in doing this by banking online as well as shopping on line because they are sheep and cannot think for themselves are are sleeping walking if they cannot see what they are doing

Compared to when I was a kid, Bolton is definitely not the same. I’ve great memories of going on a Saturday Afternoon doing the shopping with my Mum and nipping in the Toy Shop to spend my pocket money. The shops were various with independent stores, big chain stores etc. I’m guessing a lot of places in the country are the same now.
Having a labour council is the towns downfall, but the voters voted labour and need to wake up and vote for someone who cares about the town and people!
Was in Bolton town centre today and the atmosphere was zero, as usual sadly

Le Mans Cresent has been used for filming around 15 different productions in the last 3 years! From Peaky's to Coronation Street.. I don't know how viewers don't get onto it.

Surely this is what we want? If it was the land of milk and honey, all the dross from the cities would move up here.

I think Bolton might have some kind of potential but nobody can see it at the moment there must be some kind of light at the end of the tunnel if you've got film developers coming to Bolton makes you wonder I'm guessing most people from Bolton probably get bus or train through to Manchester or something maybe they work in Manchester and shop in Manchester and potentially live in Bolton and most of them probably move to Manchester anyway because of transport fees in the end or travelling makes sense

Regeneration as though this was the 80s, 90s and a little later is pointless. The world has moved on and it requires new ideas to bring in money, bring in investment and to provide better environments for people to live and grow up in, ACCEPTING the things that have changed and will never be the same. Adaption is key
