Saying this movie isn't that bad is not by ringing endorsement of the film And is part of the reason why it's not doing well with reviewers. Disney is trying to diversify their library, but at the same time Are forgetting what Made their movies so magical to begin with.
I like this movie! But I do wish she got a celebratory dress at the end like a fairy godmother-ish dress. Also the songs is great but I wish they have two more songs, like a silly whimsy song in the spirit of older films and a lullaby song. Also wish the red head sleepy friend got his redemption earlier and actually redeemed himself in the final battle.
wish isn't a "bad movie" but it does things that i personally think are worse than being bad. It takes no risks, has no identity. leaves no impact, and is forgettable . I think everyone will basically forget it happened within 5 years. That in my opinion makes it less worthwhile than something like Ralph breaks the internet or Chicken Little. those were bad movies, but they were also trying to do something different. The risks they were taking didn't work out, but the attempts to be something new and interesting were made. People are still talking about how much they hated the dad from chicken little nearly 2 decades after its release! To me there is something far more admirable about a movie that tries to be something and fails spectacularly then a movie that doesn't really try to be anything and ends up being servicable.
I don't see how Ralph Breaks the Internet took any risks honestly. It's your typical pop culture reference movie. They didn't have to risk anything really.
I don't think Wish wanted to take any risks. It's meant to be a love letter to previous Disney animated movies. It's meant to pay homage to those. The thing people are complaining about the most is what it intended to do and what they told you they were going to do. Plus this is Disney's 2nd, in all 100 years, of having a Disney Princess that is of African descent and the first one with box braids. So that representation isn't nothing either. Enchanto is Disney's best animated movie in 10 years (in story, music, and animation) and I keep seeing people overlook it to further complain that old Disney is dead and gone are the days of good Disney movies. So if even their best is getting forgotten about, I don't know if that'll be a slight on Wish. I think people are determined not to be happy with Disney.
I feel the exact opposite. Disney is not the best at original stories. That's why they adapted fairytales most of their history. I'm tired of their attempt at risky complex stories with preachy messages. I love Disney movies that are Disney. Wish ticked off all the Disney boxes cuz it's a homage to Disneys history. I found it's simplicity strangely refreshing and the movie felt like a story book come to life. Asha was fierce and the villain was iconic. Star was loveable. It may not be the most ambitious film but it's a magical princess fairytale through and through. I will never understand the hate for this movie
The Disney store doll always wins imo, I don't know what's going on with Disney at the moment. I remember you mentioning the Disney renaissance era in one of your previous videos, I feel like Disney are struggling and they're trying to get that same thing to happen again. A lot of people aren't happy with Disney at the moment, it's a shame.
I feel like having people voice their opinions about the movies on social media and Disney actually listening to ALL the criticisms has truly been a double edged sword. People complained the movies were “too white”, but adding in diversity to appease those fans has made other fans upset. People complained about the princesses causing harmful body images and upholding harmful stereotypes for young girls, but making the princesses less girlish and feminine has made other fans upset. Disney is trying to appease too many people. I think they should just stop listening to all the comments and just go back to what they did best.
I went watching it with a friend and it was very underwhelming, especially being their 100th anniversary movie. I wish i could say that the movie just happened to air this year and didn't intent to be this anniversary movie, but looking at all the Easter eggs it surely tried to fit those shoes. Some were fun to see and some were holding it back. For example the seven friends as reference to the seven dwarfs, especially if at the end only one gets merch. Btw, she isnt a disney "princess" so her now having friends isnt that ground breaking as the most princesses having a story of being sheltered or like Belle, just not vibing with the townsfolk. Tiana probably was the first one with a non-animal friend and maybe Mulan and the soldier buddies if we count them
I was looking forward to your doll review of Asha. Glad you had a great time 😊 I loved the movie, I’m not a critic, when it comes to Disney as long as I have a good time watching and singing along and feeling nostalgic I’m a happy gal. I don’t overthink it because it’s Disney 🤣 and I think we adults can sometimes over complicate things instead of just letting go and enjoying what it is.
Agreed 💯!!! Where the movie is at now feels the same as when Elemental was first released earlier this year. Given how that played out, I'm fairly confident that Wish will eventually find the right audience
I’m so glad I’m not the only one! Yess I know what you mean! And I feel like I’d take what critics say with a pinch of salt, especially when it comes to Disney because they’re not watching it with their hearts, they’re solely there to find fault with it which is kind of sad. I’m not saying all of their movies are perfect, but Disney is Disney, it’s supposed to be nonsensical and Illogical. And yess agreed Wish will find it’s niche, Frozen wasn’t this popular when it first came out, took a few years for the hype to set in 🤣
Beautiful Dolls and nice sets. I like the 1st Asha Doll has her little Goat with Carrot you can put on her Pouch, and book that opens with Star:) A shame the quality of the Mattel Doll is what we've come to know over the past several years. Her fabric items could have been so much nicer. The poor Goat looks worse Happy Meal quality! The glowy night scenes of the Trailer do look wonderful:) As with most New Dolls they're overpriced by a good £5! xo
I'd put the Mattel head on the Disney body/dress & change the shoes. Disney doll looks cross-eyed. Movie promo didn't look that's interesting, I probably won't see it.
after you mentioned that someone should watch everything Disney's ever done - an insurmountable task - now I'm insanely curious to see someone just do a quick hot take or tier list of everything!!! I know Nostalgia Critic used to do Disneycember and I liked those, but I'm not into Nostalgia Critic these days. or that style of critiquing/humor. maybe to make the task easier, it could be everything that is solely Disney, and not an acquired property, like Marvel, Fox, Pixar, ABC, etc., and/or only movies, not TV. and/or only animated movies. etc. but I still think it would be a cool task. of all the Disney animated movies that I've seen, I think my favorites are from the Renaissance era (classic Aladdin, original Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, original Little Mermaid, original Lion King), plus Frozen. and I think my least favorite was that home farm movie that I forgot about and like those straight to VHS sequels, like Mermaid 2, Cinderella 2... oh but also, I'm a huge fan of Fantasia. especially the first Fantasia. which nobody talks about, but I grew up on it, and those cartoon music shorts, that I just loved. edit: spoke too soon. as soon as I searched in TH-cam for "tier list all Disney", a bunch of videos came up. ok, off to check some out.
The disney films are nothing like they used to be. Walts vision was lost long ago. They are trying to check to many boxes instead of just writing a good entertaining story.
I haven't decided if I wanted to see the movie or not yet. So I want to hear some good things about it, for now there are more negative things for me. The characters seem to borrow every aspect of their personality and appearance from previous Disney characters to the point it doesn't even feel like new characters but only something recycled.. This is something that makes me disappointed in Disney. But mostly the visual style looks unpleasing, I would by far prefer a complete 2D or a complete 3D, here it's like in the middle of both in a bad way. It feels like seeing unfished versions we sometimes see on DVD bonus deleted scenes. I would have never imaged Disney to release something that looks half done like this. Overall the story didn't really make me curious, the goat seems to be extremely annoying and the songs seem to take away from the magic and the story. All of this is just from teasers and short parts, I could be totally wrong. I was wrong about Raya and the last dragon, I didn't want to see it for certain reasons that mislead me and I ended up loving it. I appreciate your review !
Put Mattel's head and shoes on Disney's doll. Are you going to get dilf King Mangnifico doll? He seems to be the only good part of the movie; and do spoil me, is it true that the queen knew about the magic oil that prevents you from being corrupted by the evil book?
I'm so not into this movie or the dolls. She looks just like Isabela from encanto!! All I see is the black hair and purple dress. Now seeing you holding both dolls side by side, I like the disney body with the mattel head. Switch out the shoes and add the shawl and she will look awesome
THE LACK OF OUTFITS!!! I agree !! Literally at the end you think she’s going to get a new dress !!! That was such a let down! But over all I really liked the movie and loved the soundtrack !!
I love the movie! I saw it on Thanksgiving night and I love it! The doll is cute looking but I wouldn't call Asha a princess as she isn't royalty or married into it. She like Mulan saved her kingdom but that doesn't make her a princess.
"Mattel has made worse dolls" Oh dear.. And yeah, the Disney film's aren't what they used to be. It would be great if they could do original stories and less live action remakes
Joey, I just saw Wish again! I loved it 😁 The songs are incredible and I loved the story. Magnifico was a fun villain. I like the Disney store Asha you reviewed have not seen her yet in stores. I want the King and Queen two pack 😁
I enjoyed the songs during the movie, but once it was over I couldn't remember a single line from any of them. I really liked the duet between her and magnifico, but its also really weird because it feels like a romantic song. he's too old and married for that to be a thing in a disney movie, as much as I like it I'm not sure it has a place in the movie.
I'm Mada at this movie they were gonna make the little star a little star boy who communicate through sing language and start dust and they decided against it 🥺🥺
I got banned from AMC because I brought my GoPro during "Wish" From now on I have to watch this on Saturday December 2th with my father. Speaking about being banned, Wish was my favorite Disney film, because it was the computer animation & drawn animation. My upcoming movie was not only from Disney, it was also from The Summon's Theater Studios. These both studios were also sponsored by Mattel, Gallob & Jakks Pacific. Not Hasbro because they found the license of Mattel in 2016 and the face sculpt is very ugly, Also Simba is. not sponsored because they made very ugly face sculpts (except the playsets because they're nice) the movie is called "The Adventures Of Elsia and Anya The Movie!!, Anya & The Magical Wishes"
Yes, it is. Frozen is not a word we expect to see on a movie title and it perfectly fit the theme and the core of the character's struggles. Same as Tangled. Wish is a word that is way more common and just using "Wish" as a title doesn't make it memorable. But, I haven't seen the movie so I don't know if it has a double and more profound meaning like other titles.
I enjoyed the movie overall. Thought the music was a bit week in the sense that lyrics were quite disjointed from animation. Not sure why it’s getting so much hate.
My whole family saw the movie together and we enjoyed it. My daughter loves the star character and Valentino makes her laugh when he sticks out his tongue. My daughter also loves the Mattel Asha doll (when usually the Disney Store version is the preference). We bought the exact set with the Star and Valentino goat that can sit and stick out his tongue (it also includes a book and plastic carrot). I like the molded braids verses the plastic tied down hair, the purple verses black shoes, the functional satchel on her belt, the purple cloth wrap, and the face sculpt (the Disney Store eyes looked crossed) on the Mattel doll. I used gold paint to easily add details onto her belt and put on a necklace and my daughter is super pleased with her. I was really surprised that neither doll included earrings-weird.
They made her look far to simalar to Isabella and elenor of avalor. The film will be in the raya category..forgetable.Disney bring back the classic princesses!!! Disney how about your own swan princess film and a beautiful princess odette character??!!!! So glad i grew up in the 90s
I didn’t like the film very much, it was ok but I don’t regret going to the cinema to see it. I find the characters a bit boring and not very charismatic 😢 I didn’t like the animation nor the songs…but it’s not one of Disney’s worst films neither. About the dolls, the Disney store one is clearly superior! ❤
My parents brought me the Disney Store doll back from the Oxford Street shop this last weekend, we live pretty far from it so it was lovely to get her. I love Asha and Star a lot but wish (lol) the story was somewhat stronger, I enjoyed the movie personally but I'm getting Black Cauldron higher ups meddling with it energy, could've been great but nowhere near bad as some people on the internet are making it out to be 😅
I did see the film and it's pretty solid. I absolutely loved the characters of Asha, Star and King Magnifico. I would've loved the characters to be hand-drawn and maybe the backgrounds to be computer animated. I loved all the nods to previous Disney films. I'm actually okay with the story not being innovative because I see Wish more like a tribute to the Disney legacy.
Omg people keep saying Asha is the newest Disney princess. She cannot be a Disney princess, she was not born royal, she did not Mary royal, and she did not single handedly save an entire country. She didn't even single handedly save the kingdom, they kind of saved themselves in the end.
I wish this doll wasn’t so boring, it just falls flat like Lammily doll, the hair and makeup is just so bland and basic, put simply I’m just not going to spend money on a boring doll with very little inspiration.
I've been so out of the loop with Disney for years because the quality of their films are just... 😬something. And they've steadfastly been ruining some franchises they acquired like it's their job. The dolls look nice though.
“I wish it had a better name” no pun intended
Like these titles:
"Asha's Wish"
Or
"Kingdom of Wishes".
7:49 WOW. The cracking of new doll legs was a nostalgic sound that I definitely was NOT ready for!
The problem of the lack of outfits also happened to Raya and the last dragon
Disney store doll looks cross eyed, just cant get over it! The rest of her nice.
Saying this movie isn't that bad is not by ringing endorsement of the film And is part of the reason why it's not doing well with reviewers. Disney is trying to diversify their library, but at the same time Are forgetting what Made their movies so magical to begin with.
The disney store doll box reminds me of the limited edition doll's box, like a smaller version of it
I like this movie! But I do wish she got a celebratory dress at the end like a fairy godmother-ish dress. Also the songs is great but I wish they have two more songs, like a silly whimsy song in the spirit of older films and a lullaby song. sounds like raya and the last dragon
It might sounds weird but I put your video when I try to fall a sleep. I love your voice, calm and elegant. Love from Korea❤
I love that! ❤️
Disney Wish reminds me of Enchanted and Disenchanted because there's so many references from other Disney movies.
I hated the shoehorning and the music except for welcome to Rosas…and I agree not having a final dress was annoying 🥲
2:31 i think schaffrillas productions did this already if im not mistaken.

I don't mind diversitifying, but do it with a new princess, not an already existing one, like Ariel.
I like Wish as well. I am giving the Disney Store version of the Asha doll to my niece Bridget for Christmas.
I love that you've been posting a lot lately, it really adds to the joyful mood of winter and Christmas❤❤

Poor Nakoma. Completely forgotten about. And they made a doll for her and everything. And she was in Pocahontas 1 and 2. Even got a lover.

Disney Mattel should reimagined Thumbelina and prince Cornelius wedding doll set for the 30th anniversary 💐

Joey, if you love talking about movies you should make another channel I would love it. It could be called: beauty on a screen

I bought the Lego sets before watching the movie.
The Lego sets are amazing! The movie itself, not so much, sadly.

I think out of the two disney Asha dolls I like the Disney store Asha one better I love the movie Wish the songs in it we're incredible!
The Disney Store doll looks a bit cross-eyed. Most of Disney's dolls have been looking like that lately.
More noticeable on the ILY 4ever dolls.

The Mattel face is great, so expressive! The body or dress, not so much..

Asha dolls were not sold at Toys R Us💦

EARLY
It gives me, boot leg Isabella😒😒😅
The Disney doll look cross eyed
I don't like this movie wish. The story is so boring. Raya and the last dragon is also a bad movie. Encanto and Frozen are so much better.
I wish this doll wasn’t so boring, it just falls flat like Lammily doll, the hair and makeup is just so bland and basic, put simply I’m just not going to spend money on a boring doll with very little inspiration.
Awful doll, forgettable movie
I've been so out of the loop with Disney for years because the quality of their films are just... 😬something. And they've steadfastly been ruining some franchises they acquired like it's their job. The dolls look nice though.
