      Also a boomer here, I converted from Lutheranism in the 70s and could see the great difference between the NO mass and the Tridentine Mass. I did not convert to remain Lutheran, but now, according to the pope, I don't even need to convert!

      Count me in on that, I love the Latin Mass, I also love the mass in English, I have been attending RC church since birth I’m now 79 years old, during the changes it never occurred to me, that one day in my lifetime, our Vatican would be charged with the horror crimes they have, nor that the Holy Mass and our religious life would be in danger of extinction. I will die a RC honouring and loving my God and my faith. In the midst of Frightening times ahead for the Roman Catholic Church. I truly believe our Pope, Frances, has lost his way and has forfeited the right to be the holder of the Keys , I pray for him.

      Pure nostalgia in my case, (but l am lucky to have that nostalgia, we're all thinning ou now)
      I remember the natural oneness of the congregation. The calmness, the timelessness. That was as a child surrounded by a walls of soothingly soberly dressed adults, but also seeing the large families with many children, often standing in age order was visually pleasing somehow.
      And now as an adult after attending the Latin Mass, l feel like a guest, the intense focus of The Priest(s) the purposeful movements and gestures, the liquid beauty of the language.
      It's unique isn't it, almost impossible to describe.

    I begin my day with Morning Offering, Morning Prayers, Liturgy of the Hours and these profound podcasts. Thank you for all you do.
    Interestingly enough, yesterday at my TLM Parish, Fr. Stopped during Communion, took the paten from the altar boy, and gently cleared the paten in the chalice as he saw particles of our Lord on the paten . That was the first time in 56 yes that I witnessed that happening. The care he took on doing so was indescribable. God bless our Priests

      The purification rite often overlooked in new mass. I remember in the 70’s watching the priests do it carefully. They were ordained with the old mass.

    • @grasshoffers
      @grasshoffers หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I remember clearly the particles of the Blessed Sacrament on the paten during communion. It was understood that ever particle retained the totality of the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus…the priest would carefully brush all into the chalice and add a bit of the blessed water and consume all
      Of it, then wipe with the cloth which would be put on chalice and so on.
      This was in the 70s at Novus Ordo. There were priests who were very reverent around this. Communion on the hand coarsened this and now who knows how many particles of the Blessed Sacrament fall to the floor and are trampled upon or wiped off on skirts or pants.
      It is quite saddening

    • @praywoceasing1804
      @praywoceasing1804 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@grasshoffers What I witnessed was not during purification , he placed the Host on a Communicants tongue, then noticed the particles , stopped before going to the next Communicant and carefully moved the particles into the Chalice The 70's destroyed everything, then they wonder why there is such a low number of weak lukewarm Catholics believe in the true presence.

    The official church declared Vatican Ii as PASTORAL COUNCIL nor a dogmatic one. This impinges upon the necessity of "accepting" its statements. Where the council reaffirms what the Church has always taught I must accept its declarations. Where its reaffirmations are problematic or it attempts to introduce solutions to contemporary problems we are free to discuss and criticize. What seems to be absent in all of this discussion about the Revival is the fact that the Mass is first and foremost our sacrificial adoration of the Trinity by Christ to the Father becuse of the cross. It is not a remembrance meal or a community building activity. Father's Reese's synodal idea of the "eucharist" heretically denatures what the Mass is. Community results from Christ's one and only sacrifice for our sins. Any other type of theology smacks of pelagiansim as if we can so manipulate our ceremonies to sanctify ourselves. Seek ye first the kingdom of God.

      Actually the 1928 Prayer Book used by some Episcopal Churches for their services is much more beautiful than the NO. I converted decades ago and attended an Episcopal high church for one year before being received into the RCC. We had a choir I sang in, wore robes and hats, and sang Catholic and Orthodox music.
      When I attended my first masses, the music was dreadful, the mass was so disappointing, and when I moved to my current town, the first parish I attended had heretics teaching classes,it was horrible.

In one letter Heenan states the the liturgists insist that they are seeing the fruits of the new mass taking root in his parishes especially among the children who find the vernacular easier. I was amazed at everything with which I disagreed. That was five yrs. ago and I have been studying Vat.II and it's fallacies and ambiguities since then. Eleganti is so right. Don't bother talking about this unless the listener has an open heart. More are speaking out about Vat. II which is just super. At the highest level the freemasons, whose goal for existing is to destroy the Catholic Church, were orchestrating Vat. II capturing all of us who were obedient and trusting. And Nat'l Cath. Vatican II has ambiguous language in places. It needs review. It launched a new church. But, if Vat II basically said to leave the mass as it is, then why write the document on the Liturgy? Bad motivation!

      Sometimes it's because the priests have to spread themselves thinly because of administrating the sacraments, sick calls, travelling between chapels etc, so they're not able to have Adoration and Benediction as often as they and we would like. Also it's hard for the little one's to be quiet for so long.

    Paul 6 was the one who declared V2 to be a true Council, that is authoritative, and likewise, if he was pope, then it was up to him to decide what the documents were in fact requiring. One can talk about the “implementation” as if it were up to subordinates to implement it, when in fact it lay in Paul 6’s hands, and he engineered te whole thing, down to the destruction of the altars and the creation of the architecture in which the congregation became the primary “Body of Christ” on which people were to gaze in a semi-circle. Either the Council had no authority & neither had the pseudo-popes implementing it, or it has authority and the papal interpreters of it were also correct. “Just a pastoral council” has been an evasion invented by Abp Lefebvre, because he could never bring himself to declare the See vacant & the conciliar popes invalid. But it is a complete fabrication that an official council can somehow lack all dogmatic authority, for failure to issue dogmatic canons, when the very Cinstitution of the Church is called a “Dogmatic Constitution of the Church”.

Abp Lefebvre was already an older man in retirement when he began the SSPX, and zigged and zagged to try to preserve it and tradition.
