Wes the dual voltage welders are Great I bought a Lincoln Electric 180 dual voltage welder in 2016 it came with a professional top of the line trail deer camo welding helmet valve of almost $320.00 dollars USD the welder was under $1,300.00 dollars USD the shielding gas ratio is 75/25 for mild steel and came with 2 rolls of wire 2.5 pounds of flux core and mig wire my next door neighbor to the north had a broken straight tined rake I welded it back together he accidentally ran the rake over with a 9000 pound skid steer and the weld didn’t break
Hello from Nebraska Wes. Thank you for the awesome videos! In my experience with stress cracks in steel they are always 90 degrees like yours was. I put what I call a fish plate over it after welding it back up helps spread out the load. Also like to drill out the ends of the crack. Hope it holds together for you!
I actually just got the same welder and helmet about 3 weeks ago. I needed something for me to learn how to and get better at welding. Also to compliment our main stick welder on farm. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the welder. 👍
Thanks Wes, great to see Tim, we rarely see him these days. Heard Theresa in the background, hope she's feeling better. The little welder would be good like you said for field repairs. Maybe a good addition to the tool truck with a generator ? 👍😊
Ronco, haven’t heard that name in a while. I’ve got a Chinese Amico 110/220 200amp DC inverter stick welder. I’ve done a lot of heavy welding with it and is holding up well.
If it wasn’t for the weak breaker circuit, for being 110 volt in Actually super impressed with the duty cycle of that little sucker. And always gotta love flux core.weld right over dirty painted steel and loves it. Not gunna lie I Might consider buying one of those little units for home personal unit. At work I’ve got all millers and Lincoln’s but for my own stuff I’d rather not spend huge money. I’ve considered the Canadian brand kicking horse welders before there a cheap smaller unit to but that one seems to do better tbh
The lights were also on that breaker. Did you catch Tim turning off the light switch before resetting the Breaker. His recepts need to be on dedicated 20 amp breakers.
Fronious welders are awesome also, amazing the technology. They’re a true battery welder, we’ve been able to burn 6-8 7018 1/8” rods on one charge. If you connect a full battery to 110v it’s 100% duty cycle. Crazy from where I started welding.
I bought a chinese welder last year, deko 200a.. Got it to run of my 220v generator, its extremely small and portable.. I am honestly delighted with it, literally my only gripe with it, is its really not a 200a welder, more 150a.. Dial tells lies.. But Ive ran it for about 8 sticks straight one day and it never missed a beat.. Bought it for 100 bucks off amazon.. Oh and the hot start is a bit of a joke on it.. But once its gets going, it welds absolutely fine.. Its replaced my old lincolin I can rely on it that much..
Wess your Wife is correct! Nearsightedness, also known as myopia or short-sightedness, is a common eye disease that causes distant objects to appear blurry while close objects appear normal. It occurs when the shape of the eye causes light rays to bend and focus in front of the retina, instead of on it. This can happen when the eye is longer than the optical length.
That’s definitely a proper weld. A proper flux core weld should be stronger than the actual substrate piece of iron. Just proved that breaking that knife off and weld stayed
I have a harbor freight welder it's the 200 multi process . It'll do 120 or 240 as well. I know wat u mean it's small \ light duty . I do see a difference in 240 over 120. But that was impressive. Mine was around 1100$ .
Not a great fan of Volvo but each to their own they all break though probably lucky it wasn't a Kenworth or a Pete parts cost much much more even though both are top of the range and I've had 1 of those helmets it is my best welding helmet I'd definitely try the welder for sure great video mate by the way as always cheers from Dean in Australia you are the only one who says it as is just awesome work
i got one of them 125 amp tianium flux from hf and ive beat the piss out of it ive got it strapped to a 4000w generator and ive welded 1/2 inch steel with it with proper v groving and preheating with a turbotorch
Volvo is to spend us$700million building a heavy duty truck plant in Monterrey, Mexico to supply the US and Canadian markets. 'No-till farmer' youtube channel has some examples of low budget strip till bars and tillage bar & planter conversions etc.
The prices to deal with our lovely DEF systems is outrageous. The rest of the world is polluting away but not us. Right. 😂 the people process to make all the DEF components and consumables basically nullifies any advantage we may get from running the systems. I’ve run heavy equipment most of my life. I’ve thrown away THOUSANDS of those plastic DEF fluid jugs. Heck I even worked at a landfill for quite awhile and those jugs are not recycled. They go right into the landfill. Most landfills up to medium sized no longer waste time with recycling. I personally would haul the recycling containers up to the landfill dump site at the end of the day and dump the stuff in with the regular trash. Glass is rarely recycled. Plastics are rarely recycled… if plastics are saved then they are bailed up and sold to facilities that BURN the plastic for energy. Many plastic bales are sold to Asia for just that. Metal is basically the only thing that the major landfill company I worked for would recycle.
So the Volvo worked perfectly fine until something hit the part that broke. Not a Volvo problem, just bad luck. If you use it off road, put a shield under it to protect the DEF or Ad Blue as we call it over in Europe.
When i first started in the garage trade in the UK we had a mish mash of threads. BSW british standard whitworth. AF American Fine then the Japanese car invasion introduced Metric Fine. Then in from Europe came your dreaded Metric. Which has taken over.
For the Krone bracket, you would be better off TIG Welding it, since TIG is more likely to provide a stronger weld. I don't know what the load is on that bracket, but if it was enough to crack it, Its probably enough to that a MIG weld might not last long term. For MIG I use dual shield: Flux Core & Gas which pretty much guarantees no welding problems (unless is windy), or if the work pieces aren't prepped. As for bolt strength. The Grades are also different between SAE & Metric. A SAE grade 8 Bolt is the same as a Metric grade 10.9 bolt. Perhaps you were using SAE bolt grade scales for Metric bolts.
You need to get WWW to print you a welding cover for your camera. I don't mind if you sell a couple products, because your content is worth it. Thanks !
Oh I’m not selling anything I’m just passing along what I feel is a good product. Yea they gave it to me to use and they did expect me to make a video. I’ve been using this thing for about 2 years and I’ll stand behind it. It’s damn good.
Biggest issue for me with Metric, is having to buy two sets of tools; SAE & metric. Another issue is equipment that is half SAE & half Metric. You start working on something using SAE sizes, than have to switch over to Metric wrenches. to finish the job. As far as metric decimalization supporters, the ignore when metric uses fractional sizes like 10.5 mm, 7.5 mm, etc. Another think is Metrics F'd up sizing. Why not make it 25 mm per inch instead of 25.4 mm per inch. At least it would have made conversion math a lot easier. If the US manufacturing stayed in the US, likely everything here would have remained SAE. But Good ol' Uncle Sam regulated US Manufacturing out of business. "Hi, I am from the Gov't. How can I F'k up everything for you today?"
@@allensmith3363 funny. These people gave me this welder to try out. I did. And it’s good. Not something for a welding shop. But it’s good for small jobs in a home garage or to get you out of a jam in the field. I’ve used and abused this unit and it’s good.
By the way Wes it's Dean again my son also watches with me 90% of time n he's only 4 n ahalf n reckons I'm exactly like you I'm also shaved head n goatee
Here in the UK things aren't simple some things are in metric and others are not like petrol is litres then speed limits are miles per hour and there's lots of strange things
If you find a product that was designed and manufactured from a top engineering company of China it can be good, I believe some good can from from there, the trick is to find it
Thanks for keeping it real, your authenticity is refreshing
The little welder is awesome, so it appears! Thanks Wes!

Sorry to break it to you Wes, UNC, UNF, UNEF then there are the constant pitch series’ of 4UN, 6UN, 8UN etc. All are SAE threads.
Great information about your project equipment!!
Watched one of your videos from 8 years ago today. I forgot all about clicky the camera that clicked the whole time haha

I was surprised to see you doing a review but it truly sounds you are very satisfied with this welder. Great video. Keeping it real.

I didn't realize that Tim became qualified to drive semi. Waaay to go!!!
Given some of the preliminary commenter, Wes has become a chic magnet. 😂😂
Good welding skill saves "thousands". OLF is my her0!!!!

NM is Newton Meters. Idk why we use NM when Foot Pounds or Inch Pounds is much easier
Newton meters are so much easier to understand. We don't use inches or foots to measure anything.
Newton meters is the metric method for force or torque
