He is currently at a Nursing home in Maypen. After the USA tragedy where he was at a store that was being robbed and he got shot and was injured, he was transferred by the hospital to Jamaica after being hospitalized for a while. He was visited by Carlos once in Maypen but hasn’t been in touch in ages. He laments the fact that no one really cares. Good to see this TH-cam Chanel caring enough to write about him. Blessings!
Wow, that's wild. Me and my brothers have always been into reggae and Gold is up there for us. Way up there for us. His story is very sad, good to know he's still kicking. Does he still harmonize at all?
@ShernetteMalcolm-Anderson So sorry to hear that. I hadn't heard of him by name until now. I just feel sad about the whole situation, how life deals some people. Moreover how everyone who's a so called friend forgets people in their times of need.
@ShernetteMalcolm-Anderson I hope you see this message. I have just heard of an organisation called "Jamms" that helps artists claim for unpaid royalties. You may want to look into it and see if they can help Goldie. (Thanks to BigStone for the Jamms info) ❤❤❤
I met Gold at Sammy Dread's record shop on Nostrand Ave in Brooklyn, New York in 1985. He saw me looking at Harvest time album and he walked up to me and said, "buy it nuh" I was 16 yrs old. A very cool Bredda. Bless Up Gold!
Never heard news or information about Goldie. Don Carlos always "straight to the top" as the icon he is. Thank you for this video, keep the good work. Until next time: Jah Bless!

I promise you if the wheels were turned my uncle would be by Don Carlos side in every way possible he would never turn his back on him the way Don Carlos did.
I saw Don Carlos in the late 90's in southern California, my friends reggae band backed him, great memory !!! It is pretty sad to hear Don Carlos just abandoned his close friend of 20+ year's like that !!! Not cool at all. I'm sure Don has made decent enough money touring, to live pretty comfortably, especially in a place like Jamaica, but even if not financially there, he could have been a friend to his fallen buddy !!! I always listened to Gold growing up, but never did know what happened to him, I traveled to Jamaica in yr 2000 and would have loved to visit him and helped out a little financially, had I known his situation !!! You should set up a fund to donate to these aging legends.

@raphelneil7882 Further down is a message from his daughter. She says he's still alive but in a nursing home, etc. Edit: seems like the message has since been removed? Idk why. Well, there is another one saying a similar thing, just the daughters one was a bit more in depth.
'Then never know natty dread have him credentials' is another one of the CD's that I fished out of the used bin at the college record store. I had never heard of DonCarlos and assumed 'Gold" was the name of the band, but they looked pretty rasta so I took a chance that it wouldn't be dancehall. Still one of my favourites to this day.
The sound is excellent here in Jamaica's overseas colony. 👍🏼😂 Your video & the information are also super interesting, as usual. Thank you for sharing.

I saw them both performed together at a Eastern Parkway night club, location in Brooklyn, New York (somewhere off Nostrand Avenue vicinity) in the very early 1980s! Sad for such tragedy to have occurred for anyone! Hope the survivor, Don Carlos, is still doing well and is in good health and living a satisfactory life with loved ones amongst him. Brigadier Jerry had performed on that same stage too around that time! I am not sure if I had seen them both on the same night or a separate night, however, they had both performed on the same stage where I first saw each of them in person. This is really hard to hear once again. A Reggae musician union that helps artists in need of support is long, long overdue. Much love to RAS for highlighting Gold's situation, of which a positive is to soon happen for Gold we ask. ❤️💛💚🖤

Thank you for shading light on one of the forgotten star of the 1980's who was a part and parcel of the great Don Carlos.
