Go Vandals! They didn't mention Memorial Gymnasium, where the basketball team played when I was there in the 1970's, prior to moving to the Kibbie Dome. That was one of the loudest small arenas anywhere - so fun to watch games there. The balcony seating meant you would sit almost right over the top of the sidelines, and it was just about the best view you could get of a basketball game. It is still used for some other sports, and it was right across the street from the Library. You could study up until the game started, then run across and catch the game. U of I is one of the best small campuses in the USA, where you can walk to everything.

Whoever the announcer is, didn’t do her homework. There has ALWAYS been an on campus basketball facility. Initially what became the Women’s gym, to Memorial gym, to the Kibbie Dome. A gym has been on campus since the Vandals have played basketball.

no, she did her homework. they have had a gym, but never a DEDICATED facility to just basketball. the other facilities have been multi use and multi purpose facilities. this one is only for basketball.
