Dexter saying what so many of us have been thinking. Ronnie’s done it all; he no longer needs nor should have to look as big and muscular as he did during his reign. But it’s like an addiction. He doesn’t no anything else except “peanut” weight. And like Dexter, it hurts me to see him do a “comeback” every other year where Ronnie’s back! He’s training big again. All of which is then followed by Ronnie’s having another surgery, and Ronnie may never walk again. This cycle has been repeated for the last 10 years seemingly.

I really hate when people are praising Ronnie Coleman's approach to bodybuilding saying that he's a legend because he pushed his body so hard. No, he didn't become who he was due to his bodybuilding approach but in spite of that. Ruining your training schedule due to having multiple back surgeries in a year will NOT help you be greatest. Going heavy on squat when your knee just popped will NOT help you be the greatest. Ronnie was the greatest due to him having the best genetics in history both when it comes to training and response to drugs.
Ronnie is an addict that could never stop and his story is a cautionary tale indeed. Steroids make your muscles extremely strong but your tendons and ligaments remain pretty much the same. That's why it's so important to train smart and not heavy on steroids. But Ronnie didn't care as he kept loading a small car worth of weights onto his already broken legs and back.
Just think for a second what it's like to live, watching your husband's/dad's body falling apart due to extreme drug abuse and tell me again that Ronnie is a legend. That's exactly what his family went through.
    But yeah, lightweight baby!!!

It is what it is. Bodybuilding and steroid use is an unhealthy addiction for some, an unhealthy career choice for others, or both. It is what it is. Just like a football player or a boxer knowingly sacrifices health for money. In the end we all get old, we all become disabled eventually and we all die. Ronnie truly loves the sport and if he wants to continue lifting, I say go for it. Live your life

With all do respect to Dexter, because I am a big fan, I believe he should have won more Mr. Olympias and he looks great but even though Ronnie and Dorian both lifted too heavy and probably wish they could still train and look as good as Dexter today they do have a lot of Mr. Olympia titles because of what they put themselves through. I guess it was just a trade off they made for greatness.

Dex said it best. The guys from Kuwait are only about mass. They are not shredded. Brandon Curry looked damn good at the Arnold. He beat Bonac base on his shape. Bonac’s physique is complete and has no weaknesses and he was conditioned. Curry’s legs have improved but still not up par to the rest of his body. If Curry or Roelly don’t improve their conditioning and Dex and Bonac bring their usual conditioning, they are the top 2. Dex is the man to beat.
Top 6 in no order are Dex, Bonac, Roelly, Luke Sandoe, Jon De La Rosa and Kucklo. If Roelly brings the 2009 NY win, he wins the Mr O. I still think his posing can be better.
If Curry is 5% better than the Arnold package, he wins. They love his shape/aesthetics. He does have beautiful shape. Still, the closest to being shredded I’ve seen him was at the Arnold. He is that good. He has won shows at being 90%.
The 2 guys that can be Mr O if they could come in 100% are Lionel Beyeke and Cedric McMillan. Beyeke is a sleeping giant.
He has the best overall package amongst all the guys. Shape, symmetry, muscle bellies and mass. He is never really shredded.
When Cedric came in shape and won an Arnold.

Indeed!! Dave Palumbo from RX Muscle knows bodybuilding inside out from being the best amateur heavyweight bodybuilder during the days of the mass monsters with Dorian & Ronnie. Palumbo also understands injuries and steroids better than most bodybuilders as he actually completed 3 years of medical school before dropping out in his last year.

  • @Stalker0965

That's interesting. Dorian said to Dexter that he wishes he had trained differently? In every interview & personal training session I see Dorian do (YT, Instagram etc) Not once did I ever hear him say anything about regretting the way he trained. He even trains his clients the same way. One set all out to total failure. Even his PT course emphasizes high intensity. He only said he should have backed off a bit in the last weeks before the O. All of his injuries came right before shows when he was leaner & dehydrated; not during the off season. So when DJ says otherwise, I doubt that Dorian ever said that to him.

Dexter is 100 percent right on that. If a bodybuilder has to load and unload his own weight. While he has a P. T. Then he or she. Is more likely to come out that zone, he or she is in. When it comes to the hard faught for. Mind and muscle connection. That we work so hard to gain and perfect. You know what I mean?
