In August of 2022 I heard the Jonathan Rice song “Break So Easy” and I couldn’t get it out of my head. It really scratched my brain and I was flooded with images that I felt paired well with the song. I wrote an outline for a music video, breaking it down to the very second, what I saw in my head. I thought at the time how great it would be to produce it, but I mainly wrote it down to get it out & free up creative space in my head for more ideas.
Fast forward to May of this year and I’m house-sitting at my friend Katie’s parent’s house. They have a gorgeous house with a big backyard & pool. I kept thinking the whole time I was there how much I would love to shoot something. Especially in their kitchen. I remembered my idea for the music video but left it at that until I invited some friends over to swim in the pool. They all said themselves how beautiful the house was and how cool it would be to shoot something there. I pulled up the song and talked about my ideas for it while it played in the background. Everyone was game.
At that moment, I realized the stars were aligning. I had waited to produce this for a reason, and this was undoubtedly it.
Madi: Your camera work is amazing. I knew you were talented but it was a real treat to watch it live. You plucked these images right out of my head. I can’t wait to work with Blue Phoenix again.
Elli: I don’t know how we would have made this without you. For never acting before, I was genuinely blown away with how easy you were to direct & how alive your performance feels despite having no lines.
Dylan: You are someone I always want on set even if you’re not in the movie. Your innate charm kept us going on both shoot days & you making me yell at you & hit you to get you into character is something I will never forget.
Rose / Patrik : You two are my creative bumpers. Thank you for watching all versions of this & not letting me get in my own way about it. It wouldn’t be what it is without your input.
So, after a month of post production, I am so excited to unveil a short film that my friends and I worked really hard on. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did making it!

Amazing job you guys! Was looking forward to seeing this video when you were teasing it. Everything flowed so well together with the music, soft shots and transitions. It really brought a tear to my eye. Thank you for bringing your idea to life!
