Process question. Many jobs where they want to change the stain color. Example, existing golden oak, now they want a medium brown stain (not paint) to match some other furniture. So I am toning (some say shading) a solvent conversion varnish tinted with 844's . With light passes (usually three) to "come up to" the target color. Now I have spread the doors in the exact sequence as the kitchen layout. So that in the process of making all the doors "even" in color I don't have a light and dark door side by side. Of course, going too dark is death....now I am removing color.....so go lighter, and make another pass is always better then finish removal...!
Where I am located. they typically do not want to buy new doors. I would so love to improve this process....!!
Just found you today and am very thankful!!

I stay right now with what works AXALTA CV. on new. or stripped to paint but Cambell products for all stain refinish. it makes MONEY that the point.

Jeff why do you use Axalta cv verses Krystal and Toreno from MLC? Is Axalta alot cheaper? Or is there some performance advantage??
      Thanks Jim

new cab's yes do lin. But for refinish or paint old stuff, it's better to peace work. You have set up terr down cost. You have light sand (scuff) or strip old crap off were lin dont work. In saying that were estimating were you have a cut down estimate is better the a 1 line invoice. but you both have great points. I'm a refinisher from FL were I changed trades from furniture to cabinets. Cabs way more profit. Jeff/ Dr Wood Furniture Repair. Love doing cabinets more then Furniture all day.

    Great info!
I have seen guys spray the doors on the hinges on the frame closed and they saying is will look good and nice. Hell no, a real painter takes off everything down to have that painted the right way

My mistake in my last comment. I am placing my toner in vinyl sealer and acetone. Then catalyzed vinyl sealer, then CV. Looking for advice on more accurately "hitting " my toner color faster....or a better, faster meathod.
    Thanks

Louis sounds similar to Steve Rinella, the meat eater, and he’s talking to Yanni about his gun collection!!! Did anyone else notice this?! Steve and Louis are both elite professionals in their fields... striking similarities.

anything refinished you can warrant. because oils in the past. I didnt in furniture after stripping it. oils can come to surface after you stripped it. If your paint not sticking to the doors or styles (Faca) (Box) change your profession. HAHAHAHAHA

Since your a lot more experienced, what do you use for going over old oil based painted cabinets? Have been looking at Renner coatings but can't find any I found on if the 643 primer bonds to oil based products.
