  • Up from the Swiss side, and down to the Italian side.
Spluga Pass is great to ride, and on our Ural sidecars it is real fun!

FYI Ural has recently come out with 2 wheel drive for left hand side car.

Hi Edward, that's nice to know... however, as 2WD Urals are not equipped with a differential, practical use of 2WD is very, very limited (only on snow, of thick mud). In normal conditions, 2WD is simply not drivable, and 2nd wheel must be disengaged....1WD, if carefully tuned, is just fine and safe !

hi i have a love for the ural.but in ireland they dont have two wheel drive.tell me are they realy that slow on a climb.

Hi Patrick. It's surprising that in Ireland the 2WD version is not available.... I think that both the 1WD or 2WD should be available everywhere. However, the second wheel can be used only off-road, or on snow-ice; on road, you'd better disengage the second wheel, or the bike is un-driveable! My Ural is a 1WD, and I am very happy with it.
As for the speed, Ural are slow. top speed is probably in the range of 100 km/h, but I do not drive mine above 80-85. Yes, it is slow.... but it takes you everywhere, safely (3 wheels is better than just two!), and with a lot of fun!
      ciao

They drive on the "other" side of the road in Ireland, so sidecar on left. Ural has not developed a left hand output for their differential...I drive my Ural quite a bit faster then 100km/h, see my channel. One of mine is the old full time 2WD, handful all the time...but never pulls right or left...and very fragile, so not made anymore...not real sure I would want to go much faster than you all on that road...one more thing, great video! Should make more than a few every few years, just saying...

Up and down on first gear, or can it climb on 2nd?

No, no.... 1st, 2nd, even 3rd!!! It also depends on speed....
the engine has a nice thrust.

I drive a hack full time. Right now I have a Vintage Indian 2016, with a Hannigan. I have been to Europe on a two wheel bike, can I rent a side car ( hack ) in Switzerland or Italy? I in June rode the dolomites and Alps.

Hi Jim, renting a hack in Europe is not going to be easy.... not many sidecar around here (bt the Ural sidecar family is relatively numerous, and very active, with clubs and reunions etc.). I am not aware of sidecar renting agencies or companies. But if I were you, I would contact the Ural distributor for Europe, who is based in Austria (contact easy found on the web). He may have some hint to find a hack for a sidecar enthusiast!

Not easy to drive! If you are not in perfect condition (a snoring buddy) it could be the hell.

Not necessarily... If well tuned, the bike go straight. Turning left is a bit heavy. Turning right can be 'interesting', as the nacelle may 'fly', and you better move your body to the right to avoid the take off of the nacelle (and passenger). But it is the funniest bike on earth!!!!
