    This is one of my favourite SciShow Talk Shows. Vanessa is a great guest, the animals are fun and interesting, and Jessi is always enjoyable.

    such a nice episode ! I watch all the talk shows for two reasons : the themes are really diverse and I get to hear experts, or even better, passionate amateurs having an open conversation, giving me a context and the arguments that matter the most without giving too much subjective opinions... and secondly, Jessi manages to bring knowledge and ethics along with her amazing smile. I hope you'll do as much talk shows than the number of animal species on this planet, I don't care if we have to go though all the cockroaches and the snakes, even though I truly hate snakes. That's for the content. I also like the way it's edited and filmed. Greetings from Belgium !

    It doesn't affect the content but I think I preferred their old shooting location. The log cabin style building was nice and open and had character, now it kinda looks like they're shooting in a doctor's waiting room.

    Why? Do. I do. I need Vanessa dating gossip so bad. Anyone? It is like, who is ever have been alive before seeing AND listening to one who IS Vanessa Hill!?!? I’m serious. But, I can’t be. It’s only that I’ve never been with a Vanessa let alone one Vanessa Hill (BrainCraft - not to be confused with another person with the same name.) You are intensely beautiful, in so many ways. So many ways. I can’t count how many. Depth. Sweet. Humble. Sincere. Attentive. Patient. Your oration is melting my heart. Your physical presence restrains the asymmetry to your desires. I couldn’t pretend to be anything more than your horse.

    Sugar gliders are adorable :) Such a shame that most people don't think before adopting an animal...
    I hope you get the chance to have lemurs on the show in the future! At my favorite zoo they are freely roaming in their enclosure and you can literally hang out with them. I've been there so often they come to me and sit on my lap. They are the most amazing animals I have ever met! I regularly volunteer at that zoo to make sure that people abide by the rules (no food, no smoking, etc.) and I also use that opportunity to tell people about them and about how endangered they are.

    Oh holy crap! I'm studying undergrad Behavioural Science right now, so this channel sounds amazing. TY for the vid guys! Completely agree about cognitive biases and distortions too, but as with mental illness in general just knowing about it and how it works doesn't stop it impacting you, gah. If only it were so simple!
    Also, sugar gliders are too cute forever. I kind of wish we had domesticated ones.

    I can smell cockroaches. I was the only one in the pest control company I worked for, who could smell them, so when we had a customer who thought they might have them, I got sent. They smell like a combination of cigarette butts in water and stale coffee. I can tell if they're in your house the moment I walk in the door. If I stand in your kitchen, it'll take a few minutes before I show you where they are :-)

    A thing I noticed about the Audio, it seems to be very dynamic almost distractingly so, for those audio guys that work on these episodes maybe try using slightly more compression to even out the audio so we don't have to keep adjusting the volume on our end or have our blasted when they scream because something cool happens :) just a note from a fellow audio guy

    What's the opposite of the planning fallacy? I tend to overestimate the time needed to complete a task. On the bright side it means I habitually under-promise and over-deliver which seems to make everyone quite happy so it's not really a problem (it helps that even my overestimates tend to be far less than was expected), but I'd still like to get better at accurate predictions.

    Genuine question: why would one need to leave the company of people just because they work in mines or wear high visibility clothing? What is she saying?

    • @polyjohn3425
      @polyjohn3425 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pretty sure she just meant it wasn't her scene. The "high visibility clothing" part is, as I understand it, an implication of construction or road workers, people that tend to work demanding physical jobs. And while it does seem a bit judgmental to just assume that she wouldn't get along with that kind of crowd, I can tell you right now that when I've worked those kinds of jobs and the group goes to the bar afterwards, things tend to get a bit rowdy, not exactly a comfortable place for "outsiders" or people who don't much like confrontation. Of course, this has all been here in the states, I've never been to Australia.
