“Let me tell you something” in that little girl’s voice in the meme. I recently tried Obia Naturals Curl Enhancing Custard with Uncle Funky’s Daughter underneath and Bebe!! It was A+ for me. I’ve used it several times now. I will definitely be getting another one soon. Ive already restocked my UFD. I got 2 salon size when they had them on sale recently. I checked the ingredients and it’s the same as the one that I purchased recently from Amazon and it’s worked the same. I also use UFD underneath my Jello-Shot. Favorite combos right now.
I've been using KKCC since 2008, and usually get the large size from their website. It was great when they had the 1L Knot Today, but lately, they only have the 8oz Knot Today. Another favorite for me is the Treluxe system, leave-in, serum, and gel.
Layering over botanical gels has been key for me! One of my faves is Curl Junkie Pattern Pusha under a PVP gel. Your hair looks sooo gorgeous Kayla, as always! Thanks & have a lovely weekend! xo 😘
I love that you don't mention UFD. Everyone loves it but it always made my hair look crazy. I bought a few things from your list this year,, I just need to take the time to perfect my WNG technique. Thanks for sharing Kayla.
It definitely has a learning curve. When I first tried it it looked like I did nothing. I did it outside the shower and didn’t know how to do a wash n go so I returned it. After following @Iamblackgirlcurls and partnering with a natural hair stylist I learned how to use UFD. It needs the proper water to product ratio.
Add a little jello shot over the "unmentioned" drugstore gel and all your problems will be solved. I had a 10 day wash n go in Florida back in July with definition that looked like day 3/4 hair.
It is softer than jello shot but will give you a full week without needing to put it in a puff. Day 7 Obia when I didn’t apply it as heavily as usual: instagram.com/p/CKeMsJGlrMA/?
I use EarthTones Natural Max Gel and it’s great. However, I paired mine with Uncle Funky’s Curly Magic. They also worked well together, I did it on damp hair as suggested by the owner
I’m fairly new to trying out gels but Eco slay Jell-O shot may be a fave for me. Truly does hold well. I’m playing around with it with layering it now as well
I like curls goddess curls under Paul Mitchell firm super clean gel. Curls is also at most stores. That’s funny I wanted to try obia but I’m afraid it will have a strong scent but don’t remember kinky curly having a memorable strong scent. I do better with botanical gels in the winter. I stopped trying in the spring and summer unless paired with that Paul Mitchell gel.
You’re reminding me of all kinds of stuff here. I like the purple Paul Mitchell gel to layer and I DID try AND LIKE that curls gel but it was loooooong ago.
I also recently purchased two new stylers. Can’t wait to try nurture by Hydra Bar and Nature’s Little Secret’s Irish Moss Styling Cream. I will be getting my curly cut soon so I think I will wait until then to use them.
TFS! My best combo has been Soultanicals sprung coil boosting jelly to clump my curls and then Trepedoras Bambo glaze for the hold. Trying to find a cheaper alternative to the glaze though, might try Jello shot.
Your hair is so luscious and full! I went to your Amazon shop link and was delighted to see that you favor the brand Stay On Satin. I’ve been using The Stay On Satin Tie Up Wrap for yeeeeeeaaaaarrrrsss. It is truly the only satin wrap that will stay on my head at night. I have been natural since 2012 and I have literally purchased some clippers to shave my head so many times over the last decade. I no longer have the urge to shave my head and been growing my hair the last 4-5 years now and I feel like my hair is stuck at the same length for the past two years. How can I extend beyond neck length? 😢💕
Thank you! As for your length, there are so many factors as to why you could not be retaining length. It could be a step in your regimen breaking your hair off, your styling methods, the overall condition of your hair, etc. It’s too difficult for me to pinpoint. I have several videos on length retention. I also have a video on finding a professional in your area. They can assess your hair and give you specific answers.
I’m interested in the Jell-O shot, my only issue is the need for it to be refrigerated- seems inconvenient to me 😭 but you make it sound so good. In regards to the kinky curly custard, what exactly does it smell like- I like the scent of the knot today, is it similar to that? Another great and informative video ❤️
I’m still a little unclear about what a cast is and whether it’s a good or bad thing. Is a cast an indicator of flakes? Or stickiness? I definitely feel like the KCCC gives me a sticky cast whenever I use it, but it does make my hair feel moisturized. I’ll have to try it with the knot today leave in.
A cast is definitely not an indicator of flakes. It’s just the styling product hardening around the hair. This can be softened by manipulating the hair or (like I do) letting it soften on its own after a few days. I found this article to be informative: www.naturallycurly.com/curlreading/curl-products/what-is-a-gel-cast-and-how-to-break-it-si
Just discovered you channel and I'm loving the info you give out in these videos. Question...have you ever used the Innersense I Create Hold? I'm considering purchasing it as it became available locally and I already have Uncle Funky's and I definitely need something heavier to hold my curls
Hi!! Love your content/channel! I am trying to transition to botanical gels. Have you by chance come across Any that are great for slicking down type 4 hair? Or am I pretty much stuck with Eco, wet line, etc.? Thanks!! 🥰
Appreciate the support! I NEVER slick my hair down so I’m not an expert. That said, people seem to be getting great results using styling foams to slick their hair. They have hold and dry quickly.
@@WhatTheKink Lol 🤣🤣😂 I am glad you took it in stride I hoped it to come off as comical. Really appreciate your channel and your approach to product selection and usage. I am currently in the market for medium hold gels since as I have a preference for gels that don't have too much of a cast /hold and because I don't live in a place where it has high humidity year round and don't need or want high hold/humidity blocking gels all year round so as to give my hair a chance to expand more and be fluffier while still being wearable.
Your hair looks great. It is my aspiration! Amazing!👏🏾 Also, how do you learn about these products? I've never heard or seen them before. Although, it's probably a good thing! #curliecrys told me I didn't have to buy ALL the products out there, which was a relief. Lol. BUT you're making me want to! 😁🤫😁

My staple products are the kinky curly leave in and custard 💗💗💗

Now that Jello Shot exists, I’ll definitely give it another go!
What is the unmentioned one
@@karisburrell7921 It's UFD. lol
I just bought the Obia naturals custard And I'm telling you I can't wait to try it. Thanks for the review
I’m in Fl too, waiting on my Jello Shot with alll the excitement! I plan to use it over Uncle Funky’s Curly Magic. Your hair is gorgeous hun!!🔥
One of my favorite combinations.
I too live in Florida and am trudging my way this botanicals with that said how does Obia hold. I am currently married to Ecoslay Jello shot

kinky curly is the undisputed goat

Can you recommend one that’s good for a slick back please?
I don’t use gel for slicking my hair back so I can’t help you there.
I know you’ve done these combos before but could you do a series revisiting these botanical gels ?
I could definitely do that for some of the ones with older videos. 🤔
@@WhatTheKink You know I’m going to watch 👀👀👀
Have you tried Alaffia’s curl control custard? I find it to be a good dupe for kinky curly.
I had it on my radar since they discontinued their beautiful curls styler. I wondered if it was similar to that.

The leave in and custard don’t smell alike. The custard has a very sweet, dessert-like scent.
