I do not know what kind if version you got or if you got a faulty unit because my experience was totally diferent. I compared it to my Ipad Air 2019 (third generation). 1. I found the overall built quality of the tablet very good and I could say it is on par with the Ipad. I like the matepad pro more because it has a larger screen and here comes the advantage of the thin bezzels, it is significantly smaller than the Ipad air 3. 2. The screen: yes, I also noticed the dark corners, but I do not give them so much importance, believe me they are more subtle than what you see on the video (if you are thinking about buying one you should see it in a store and decide for yourself). 3. Screen brightness and resolution: better on the matepad pro, but not by much(watching videos on youtube is waaaay better on the matepad because of the resolution, even if on paper there is not so much difference) Colors: depends, most of the people I asked said that the Ipad is better, I personally prefer the colors on the Matepad Pro. Anyway, given the fact that 3 out 3 people I asked said the Ipad colors are nicer tot the eyes this is a win for Apple 4. Apps: you can get almost every android app with Phone Clone, Appgalerry, Moreapps and Apkpure Yes, the overall drawing experience is better on the IOS if we are talking about apps. One thing I noticed: I do not know why people are saying the apps are better optimised on the Ipad. I cannot use instagram on the Ipad because of the black bars, on the Matepad the application is optimized for a tablet. 5. Netflix: at the moment every Huawei devices runs netflix in SD because of the lack of GMS. I hope they somehow fix it in the near future because it is a turnoff for many people 6. Pen: both are good for writing, with the Ipad slightly better. Buuut, when it comes to drawing the Air 3 is way better, I can say this without any hesitstion (the apple is just better and it has many professional apps for drawing). I must say I'm not a person who draws at all, but I gave the tablets to a person who does and even I could see the difference. The M pencil feels better in hand and it has wireless charging and you can connect it magnetical to the tablet. The first apple pencil is a pain when it comes to charging. One more thing, I write more on the Matepad with the Nebo preinstalled app and I convert all my writings into plain text and it works like a charm, even if I do not write in english. 7. OS: I like the Huawei OS, I had no freezes and it is slightly faster (did some speed tests), but not something you would notice in day to day use. I like that on the Matepad I have a reading mode which is much more confortable than any reading I did on the Ipad (I tried even to turn all the colors into black and white but at reading the Matepad is just better, especially given the fact that it is smaller) I do not know what inconvenience you had with the App permissions because I wasked for many more permissions than on my daily android phone, which I like because they are more transparent. I would say that the Matepad has a more intuitive OS if you never owned an IOS device. BUT, the Ipad is just better because of the diversity of the apps (even tho I encountered many bugs on the IpadOS, but I guess the time will tell which is better) 8. Speakers: by far the four speakers on the Matepad are better 9.Price: The Matepad, at least in my country, is 600$ now (bought it refurbished for around 475) and the M pencil is 70$ (bought it for 50$). The Ipad Air is almost 650$ (bought it refurbished for the same price as the Matepad, 475$) and the apple pencil is 130$ (bought it on a sale for 90$). If you don't have any apple device the Ipad Air 3 is a lot more expresive given the fact that the accesories are more expensive (example: for the Ipad you really need a fast charging brick because the charging time is a pain with the basic charger, which is another 50$) 9. Conclusion: I think that the correct comparison is not with the Ipad Pro, which many youtubers do because it is clear that the Pro is far better, but is Also very expensive. The correct comparison is with the Ipad Air 3, so... If you want a device that you will use for writing documents, travel, watching youtube, ocasional drawing and you want to save some money you should go with the Matepad Pro. If you want to feel safe about the apps, future support, you care about drawing, you watch netflix and you do not mind spending a bit more on a device that on paper is inferior you should go with the Ipad. If you are already in the apple ecosystem the answear is a lot easier, Ipad all the way. I think that Huawei did an amazing job with this tablet and they a good future ahead of them even withour Google. Feel free to ask me any question!

I have one & have all the apps I would need from a Google supported device. The absence of the Play Store is not a deal breaker if you know your way around the Huawei environment. There are also a lot of good features which were missed out from this review such as the desktop mode & dependable battery life. For me, it couldr replace an iPad & a laptop.
Yeah, and that politics deal from US Government about Google and Huawei, I think didn't work, or at least here in my country Perú, heard a lot about that, so hard that even a restaurant offered a temporary discount to every customer who had a Huawei smartphone hahahah 😆 but soon the news said that that politic wouldn't run so, it's okay, I have a Huawei I bought in China and nowadays I can use the Google Play store and else, but heard recently that the new phones have something different about it, that they don't have access to Play store though but I'm not sure. Anyway I just want to use this new Huawei tablet for drawing in Clip Studio Paint and I download it from the web, I don't need direct access to everything, I use the web in Google Chrome or even another one to search for Facebook and else, I only have TH-cam as an app and some other ones.
Pretty much, yeah. Samsung has that CSP support going on, wacom is, well, WACOM. It’s pretty much the top tier pen tablet company. xp-pen and huion just keeps getting better and better. One of them already has an AIO pen display. And the ipad is still dominating the mobile pro artist scene (with procreate/csp/sketchbook mainly).
Have to say I've enjoyed using the ipad out of all of these. Had a wacom intuos, still use it every now and then, have the pc work horse xp pen artist 13.3 pro, and then my on the go/too lazy to sit at a desk, ipad 11" pro gen 2. You'd think going from 13.3 inches to 11 is eugh but actually with procreate being so streamlined and user friendly it's almost the same working space as on the 13.3 pro, since a lot of the software takes up your canvas space leaving you with a smaller drawing area.
Believe me. The average person 100% cannot do it themself. I have to work with people on a daily basis and explain the most basic aspects of Windows, something they have worked with for literally a decade and they still dont understand many fundamental functions. If its not in the play store for easy access then they would not be able to install what they need. The average consumer doesnt know jacksh*t and honestly wouldnt even know about other sources and or where to look for them. I would NOT buy this android tablet for anyone. Buy any other, that can use the goodle play store, its way easier that way. (Unless you know what you want and where to find the apps you want to install, even without the playstore)

Well, honestly if I'm going to spend on a tablet like this I want the best line quality ever, otherwise I'm keeping my Wacom Intuos even tho I know it's not the same thing. The Samsung S tablets match the ipad for drawing. The issue is software, the ipad has better apps and third party developers, its nothing really do the respective device's abilities.
Beside saying great video Brad which you always do I wanna mention that android is open world You can side load any apps from their developerrs site or other launchers For huawei situation, as along as the apps don't require GMS , you can side load it and you are pretty fine to go

Seriously, if you're looking for the best smart tablet that's portable, very responsive, receives software improvements for years, has great library of apps and even more to come that's not even in the competition, is actually very powerful to run desktop apps like affinity photo, designer, publisher, get the ipad pro. I can't recommend it enough for artists. In my country I earn roughly (converted) 400 dollars monthly. That's very low in my opinion, and I invested in this tablet and was never disappointed. I use it for professional work, I do everything on it. I edit videos, I make paintings for artist alleys, I make logos, and graphic design. I've had a lot of freelance work done. It didn't chug down, it didn't die on me. It never failed me. I can take it anywhere, it has great battery life. I use procreate, adobe fresco (free version), artstudio pro, affinity photo, affinity designer, roughanimator (animation), lumafusion (video editing). And a whole bunch of other apps.
I really don't understand why people compare this Tablet with the iPad Pro, it's obvious that the iPad Pro is much better, I think it's just to show that Apple is better, something that almost everyone agrees and knows, after all, the iPad Pro is the best Tablet currently for professional use... Especially if you have other Apple devices or/and prefer iPadOS, then without a doubt the iPad ends up being better, even if it's not a Pro. I think the right comparison is his comparison with the iPad Air, both the third generation and the fourth generation. I think if you compare it to the Basic iPad, the basic one (and any other iPad), it has an advantage thanks to the diversity of apps, mainly drawing apps.

Well, I can see that you don´t know so much about HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) and you dont search for solutions that the app gallery gives you, there is a thing called Quick apps that is an emulator for GMS (Google mobile services) also petal search that finds you any app you need. In my P40 Pro I have autodesk, and all the apps you will normally need. So don´t stick only to App Gallery because also Huawei tells you to use apk pure or petal store to download all the apps
I completely disagree with your vision. I have this tablet and it has an excellent construction quality, it is solid, it does not fold like the iPad pro, the pen works very well and it is possible to install all applications through alternative stores. I have Krita, Painter, Artflow, Cocepts, and the Clip Paint demo installed and they all work well. this tablet also has a lot of autonomy and is more powerful and faster than the Samsung S6.
I am still using my Huawei p10 in 2020. The camera is still alright. I just love their camera on the phones but it's just .... I don't want not having Google services to come back and bite in the future.

Huawei are adding apps all the time and will support developers to bring apps over. Can you list the ones you want in order of most to least essential please? Also let the devs know they can get support if you have contacts. The Huawei store is the third largest in the world after Apple and Google as of August 2020 and growing fast: a massive market for whichever art apps want to jump in first. It’s constantly getting better too.

My dad got that tablet for work a few months ago, the hardware itself is great, but the software leaves a lot to be desired. Just trying to install stuff like Netflix and Spotify was a headache, let alone youtube. Honestly, I tried the pen and it didn’t give too much trouble with Sketchbook, but I still wouldn’t suggest it. The tab S6 is a much better alternative (at least software-wise), while the tab S7 basically demolishes it 😂.
I don't really think the play store not being there is an issue. there are plenty of third-party app stores for android that you can just download and install. the best one I know of is Aptoide, it has virtually every app on the play store on there. also, sideloading google apps is a possibility but that's a lot more effort. At the end of the day, it'll all be fine, someone will manage to root it and you can get those sweet GApps
Even from hardware standpoint, it's not great really given the high price like the average quality LCD screen that has bleeding around the edges especially punch hole and the pen input is laggy.

I have a mid-range Huawei tablet and the LCD is awesome actually. u won't get Apple quality in any way, but it's still something for people on a budget, or those like me who don't like the Apple ecosystem. I'm personally very satisfied with what Huawei offers for the price and lack of GMS isn't even a problem. for the average user (not a creative professional) Huawei will do the job.

The first thing I still don't get is... do you want a computer replacement or a drawing tablet? I ask because you're stating that "because it has no Google Store it's useless, you can't install GMail, GMaps, etc." Well, I know where I'm drawing if I want a drawing tablet, I have my phone side to me always for e-mail (don't want to have a f****ng pop-up on my canvas while drawing), etc. There are many other stores available in Android (APKpure, etc.) that have other drawing programs available (Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter [not sure how to acquire a license for it through APKpure so don't ask], etc.)

after a few weeks of using matepad pro 10.8, I feel like huawei did not even try to meet any of apple's standards on a soft-hardware collaboration level. I have found quite a few apps that cant exclude the fingers' input while using the pen, had problem with video apps when attaching/detaching the keyboard, and multi-task apps. It does have some nice interaction features with other huawei devices, like screen projection and 'airdrop'. basically this is a nice, cheaper alternative to the ipads, with niche compromises that depends on what u need.

front-facing cams, i dont get or understand why tablets or any other work/ productivity devices have them.. why not just give them one good higher res cam, one that flips up to a front-facing cam (gives more room internally).Really honestly, makes no sense and is a likely a reason for most devices to not sell as well as they should. First off, nobody will use a five to ten mp cam for the main rear cam because what its ideally used for. As a productivity cam, people need a ten and up mp, at least. As a tablet there should be a dual-screen rather than dual cams and even dual cams( as one on each screen) because they could sync together. Tablets are horribly going down with lack of real world features. I mean if galaxy tab and apple ipad are the best tablets will be, then they are always going to fall by the waistside to cell phones and laptops. No matter how great the processor and stylus(if theyll even give you a good stylus or any at all). eveolution has run these platforms short and dry, like a turtle of devices in a wide barring desert. i mean these are the devices ive been waiting for since the palmpilot.. that name gives alot to the mind after all. So, this minimal edge is perfect(not the samsung curved edge) and as like keyboard plug interfaces on ,,two-in-ones ,, they could easily make it a optional sync with an additional tablet of the same model/ make as a via plug adapter or porfolio case upgrade extention moderator. Im just saying, the possibilities to raid and network the robust dual hardware feature are being held back by one front low-res facing cam that little to nobody uses for productivity or work, which nearly all to most are aiming for. I can go on about this alone, but im not trying to start a yt channel here.. lo.
I see some people here talking about how China spies on people. Ok, here's the thing. This mainly only happens in China to their respective products. This is mainly the fault of Google themselves however. Google allows developers to take information from the users like your credit card info, personal information, account information, device information and more. All of this for the sake of "Better user experience." And China takes advantage of this. However, it should be noted that other than China, you are mostly safe from China's bullshit. So, a Huawei device is still a decent find, but without any google apps that we're mostly used to.

I actually downloaded Autodesk Sketchbook on this device. The trick is to go to the browser and search, download Autodesk Sketchbook for Android (Huawei). Then I got redirected to a website called the apk store (not really sure about the name). They had Autodesk sketchbook available on there and I clicked download and then a few seconds after that I had Autodesk sketchbook on my home page. It works great. No strings attached!

Pretty much, yeah. Samsung has that CSP support going on, wacom is, well, WACOM. It’s pretty much the top tier pen tablet company. xp-pen and huion just keeps getting better and better. One of them already has an AIO pen display. And the ipad is still dominating the mobile pro artist scene (with procreate/csp/sketchbook mainly).
Have to say I've enjoyed using the ipad out of all of these. Had a wacom intuos, still use it every now and then, have the pc work horse xp pen artist 13.3 pro, and then my on the go/too lazy to sit at a desk, ipad 11" pro gen 2. You'd think going from 13.3 inches to 11 is eugh but actually with procreate being so streamlined and user friendly it's almost the same working space as on the 13.3 pro, since a lot of the software takes up your canvas space leaving you with a smaller drawing area.

Believe me. The average person 100% cannot do it themself. I have to work with people on a daily basis and explain the most basic aspects of Windows, something they have worked with for literally a decade and they still dont understand many fundamental functions. If its not in the play store for easy access then they would not be able to install what they need. The average consumer doesnt know jacksh*t and honestly wouldnt even know about other sources and or where to look for them. I would NOT buy this android tablet for anyone. Buy any other, that can use the goodle play store, its way easier that way. (Unless you know what you want and where to find the apps you want to install, even without the playstore)
Their smartphones are pretty great but honestly when it comes to tablets

Well, honestly if I'm going to spend on a tablet like this I want the best line quality ever, otherwise I'm keeping my Wacom Intuos even tho I know it's not the same thing. I mean, if I go for a screen drawing tablet all I ask for is precission. Still I think it's great that more brands are trying to make products to match the iPad. We need options and not just one brand to rule us all
The Samsung S tablets match the ipad for drawing. The issue is software, the ipad has better apps and third party developers, its nothing really do the respective device's abilities.

You can side load any apps from their developerrs site or other launchers
For huawei situation, as along as the apps don't require GMS , you can side load it and you are pretty fine to go

Seriously, if you're looking for the best smart tablet that's portable, very responsive, receives software improvements for years, has great library of apps and even more to come that's not even in the competition, is actually very powerful to run desktop apps like affinity photo, designer, publisher, get the ipad pro. I can't recommend it enough for artists. In my country I earn roughly (converted) 400 dollars monthly. That's very low in my opinion, and I invested in this tablet and was never disappointed. I use it for professional work, I do everything on it. I edit videos, I make paintings for artist alleys, I make logos, and graphic design. I've had a lot of freelance work done. It didn't chug down, it didn't die on me. It never failed me. I can take it anywhere, it has great battery life. I use procreate, adobe fresco (free version), artstudio pro, affinity photo, affinity designer, roughanimator (animation), lumafusion (video editing). And a whole bunch of other apps.

I really don't understand why people compare this Tablet with the iPad Pro, it's obvious that the iPad Pro is much better, I think it's just to show that Apple is better, something that almost everyone agrees and knows, after all, the iPad Pro is the best Tablet currently for professional use... Especially if you have other Apple devices or/and prefer iPadOS, then without a doubt the iPad ends up being better, even if it's not a Pro. I think the right comparison is his comparison with the iPad Air, both the third generation and the fourth generation. I think if you compare it to the Basic iPad, the basic one (and any other iPad), it has an advantage thanks to the diversity of apps, mainly drawing apps.

For those who want Google play store, download Aurora store, it works with the Google database
You can go full screen in ibis paint! Just use the other version of it. If you press cancel At the beginning when you open it you can use it normally.
Ye right. I don't know which reality u live in but my ibis paint x is working fine. Secondly, i think reviewing this device without making a 30 min effort to install google services is unfair and stupid. But i agree on the flaws.
That’s the thing. He reviews products as shipped and if you gotta jump through hoops for a device to even seem on par with the competition, then that’s a failure on the part of the manufacturer, not the reviewer.
@@BenFrankarts If you really call a couple of simple steps "jumping through hoops" , i can only imagine how much you'll curse if you ever have to install custom tablet drivers in an older Linux kernel or hve to troubleshoot other bugs... yeah.
Just because you are too bored to make a simple known fix to get the device up to par, doesn't mean that the device itself is bad.
If you re gonna blame , blame Huawei for the whole app-gallery thing, not the device itself. The device itself works fine.

Well, I can see that you don´t know so much about HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) and you dont search for solutions that the app gallery gives you, there is a thing called Quick apps that is an emulator for GMS (Google mobile services) also petal search that finds you any app you need. In my P40 Pro I have autodesk, and all the apps you will normally need. So don´t stick only to App Gallery because also Huawei tells you to use apk pure or petal store to download all the apps

I completely disagree with your vision. I have this tablet and it has an excellent construction quality, it is solid, it does not fold like the iPad pro, the pen works very well and it is possible to install all applications through alternative stores. I have Krita, Painter, Artflow, Cocepts, and the Clip Paint demo installed and they all work well. this tablet also has a lot of autonomy and is more powerful and faster than the Samsung S6.
I am still using my Huawei p10 in 2020. The camera is still alright. I just love their camera on the phones but it's just .... I don't want not having Google services to come back and bite in the future.

Huawei are adding apps all the time and will support developers to bring apps over. Can you list the ones you want in order of most to least essential please? Also let the devs know they can get support if you have contacts. The Huawei store is the third largest in the world after Apple and Google as of August 2020 and growing fast: a massive market for whichever art apps want to jump in first. It’s constantly getting better too.
You can always install the play store yourself. I have bought many devices over the years without it and it's rather simple to install.

My dad got that tablet for work a few months ago, the hardware itself is great, but the software leaves a lot to be desired. Just trying to install stuff like Netflix and Spotify was a headache, let alone youtube. Honestly, I tried the pen and it didn’t give too much trouble with Sketchbook, but I still wouldn’t suggest it. The tab S6 is a much better alternative (at least software-wise), while the tab S7 basically demolishes it 😂.
I don't really think the play store not being there is an issue. there are plenty of third-party app stores for android that you can just download and install. the best one I know of is Aptoide, it has virtually every app on the play store on there. also, sideloading google apps is a possibility but that's a lot more effort. At the end of the day, it'll all be fine, someone will manage to root it and you can get those sweet GApps
Even from hardware standpoint, it's not great really given the high price like the average quality LCD screen that has bleeding around the edges especially punch hole and the pen input is laggy.
@@obidean3964 the Huawei tablet costs less for a reason. I have a mid-range Huawei tablet and the LCD is awesome actually. u won't get Apple quality in any way, but it's still something for people on a budget, or those like me who don't like the Apple ecosystem. I'm personally very satisfied with what Huawei offers for the price and lack of GMS isn't even a problem. for the average user (not a creative professional) Huawei will do the job.

The first thing I still don't get is... do you want a computer replacement or a drawing tablet? I ask because you're stating that "because it has no Google Store it's useless, you can't install GMail, GMaps, etc." Well, I know where I'm drawing if I want a drawing tablet, I have my phone side to me always for e-mail (don't want to have a f****ng pop-up on my canvas while drawing), etc. There are many other stores available in Android (APKpure, etc.) that have other drawing programs available (Autodesk Sketchbook, Infinite Painter [not sure how to acquire a license for it through APKpure so don't ask], etc.)

after a few weeks of using matepad pro 10.8, I feel like huawei did not even try to meet any of apple's standards on a soft-hardware collaboration level.
I have found quite a few apps that cant exclude the fingers' input while using the pen,
had problem with video apps when attaching/detaching the keyboard, and multi-task apps.
It does have some nice interaction features with other huawei devices, like screen projection and 'airdrop'.
basically this is a nice, cheaper alternative to the ipads, with niche compromises that depends on what u need.

front-facing cams, i dont get or understand why tablets or any other work/ productivity devices have them.. why not just give them one good higher res cam, one that flips up to a front-facing cam (gives more room internally).Really honestly, makes no sense and is a likely a reason for most devices to not sell as well as they should. First off, nobody will use a five to ten mp cam for the main rear cam because what its ideally used for. As a productivity cam, people need a ten and up mp, at least. As a tablet there should be a dual-screen rather than dual cams and even dual cams( as one on each screen) because they could sync together. Tablets are horribly going down with lack of real world features. I mean if galaxy tab and apple ipad are the best tablets will be, then they are always going to fall by the waistside to cell phones and laptops. No matter how great the processor and stylus(if theyll even give you a good stylus or any at all). eveolution has run these platforms short and dry, like a turtle of devices in a wide barring desert. i mean these are the devices ive been waiting for since the palmpilot.. that name gives alot to the mind after all. So, this minimal edge is perfect(not the samsung curved edge) and as like keyboard plug interfaces on ,,two-in-ones ,, they could easily make it a optional sync with an additional tablet of the same model/ make as a via plug adapter or porfolio case upgrade extention moderator. Im just saying, the possibilities to raid and network the robust dual hardware feature are being held back by one front low-res facing cam that little to nobody uses for productivity or work, which nearly all to most are aiming for. I can go on about this alone, but im not trying to start a yt channel here.. lo.

Ok, here's the thing.
This mainly only happens in China to their respective products.
This is mainly the fault of Google themselves however.
Google allows developers to take information from the users like your credit card info, personal information, account information, device information and more. All of this for the sake of "Better user experience."
And China takes advantage of this.
However, it should be noted that other than China, you are mostly safe from China's bullshit.
So, a Huawei device is still a decent find, but without any google apps that we're mostly used to.

I really don't understand why literally no one who reviews this device just doesn't install Google Services on it and also reviews it from that standpoint. It literally takes 5 minutes and you don't need to root or modify your device at all.

The trick is to go to the browser and search,
download Autodesk Sketchbook for Android (Huawei). Then I got redirected to a website called the apk store (not really sure about the name).
They had Autodesk sketchbook available on there and I clicked download and then a few seconds after that I had Autodesk sketchbook on my home page. It works great.
