over the years I have always Mobil and I have had 2 hundred thousand miles on an BMW 518and never had a problem with that engine. i am happy to see you using Mobil1. One the things I have admire about you is your brutal honesty about things. Best wishes
Thanks a lot bro ! I do try to keep it real regardless what people think or say I ain’t ever changed or tried to be any different in that manner. As being honest is the best approach and all I’m doing is trying to make them give a long life to there BMWs. But unfortunately many people don’t see it like that.

Best advice the Dr gave me. 5w40 cut my oil consumption big time. Went from burning 1 qt a month to one every 3 months. Thanks again👊

Omg... I've had my e89 for years, 120k miles. Braved myself to do my own oil change. Didn't understand why the kit i bought wouldn't fit. Some previous garage had binned the vanos filter. Codes all the time. Just ordered a new filter cap with vanos cage. Can't wait to fit it and see if it makes a difference. £10 well earned my friend! 👍🏻

When should you switch over from 5w30 to 40? I've got a 325i witht the 2.5 litre N52 on 112k miles, should I switch over yet?
Here in the states we use the MANN filter only and Liqui Moly 5w-40 for these engines and they run lovely nice and quiet.
wait a minute, u said "this applies to other engines", are you talking about using 5w40 or how to change oil? Does anyone recommend 5w40 for the n55?

What’s your opinion of theN53 B30 engine?
I wouldn’t personally touch a N53 it’s as expensive to run as owning a N54 and is identical just doesn’t use turbos instead has the three stage manifold. I would rather the N54 then the N53

First of all: Don't like the title. I mean, oil changes go without saying for me and from the title I couldn't tell, that I'm already doing the thing, that will make it last forever.
The real question: Isn't black oil pretty normal? Maybe not so much on petrol engines, but on my diesel there is no way to get anything out that isn't black as hell. Maybe from the blow-by or something like that, but it never occurred to me as a concern.
