Rod Serling (1924-1975) was an American screenwriter, television producer, and narrator best known for creating and hosting the groundbreaking science fiction anthology series, "The Twilight Zone." Born in Syracuse, New York, Serling was a prolific writer, with over 250 television scripts to his credit, including the Emmy Award-winning drama "Requiem for a Heavyweight." Serling used science fiction and fantasy as a vehicle for exploring social and political issues of the time, earning a reputation as a master storyteller and social commentator. Despite his premature death at the age of 50, his influence on television and science fiction has endured, making him a beloved icon of the genre.

Serling also used 16 scripts written by Richard Matheson for The Twilight Zone series. Matheson also wrote, The (Incredible) Shrinking Man, I Am Legend and Bid Time Return, which was the basis for Somewhere in Time. Both men were brilliant.
