Like your video. Having the the box of what you are shooting right there is a nice touch. Cutting out the chit chat, is a nice touch as well, all biusiness. .Just very nicely done. .Thanks
Excellent! Just got my Savage 25 in 22 Hornet. The dealer looked at me funny when I asked for it, but I always wanted one. I would have taken a CZ as well, they're excellent, but it was whatever was available. The Savage is suppose to have a super accurate barrel, stock and has that accutrigger - so we'll see how it works out. Of course they are pushing their new 17 Hornet, but I don't think it's the same. I do think it will cause people to start re-discovering the 22 Hornet though when they realize how much of a forgotten treasure it is. Thanks for the vid!
Justin Somerset mate thank you for watching and that. Mate when i bought mine i didnt have the option of the savage only ruger or CZ and in that battle cz wins all the time. The Savage i've heard is a great rifle. All those features I think you'll find out to 250 yards you'll have no dramas on smaller vermin. easily. Enjoy mate!
Top stuff. I'm getting back into reloading for my Hornet after a long time playing with all my .30cal's. It's great to to fire the hornet again! About to reload with AR2205 powder and Hornady 45gr HP BEE hollow points. My old Krico has never fired a more accurate projectile than that.
Great video. My only criticism is to remember significant figures when doing conversions. You showed your groups to a hundred millionths of accuracy in your inch conversions.
I also had a 527 in 22Hornet.Regret selling it to this day.One projectile that seemed to like it was the Hornady 40 grn 218 Bee projectile.Hit bunnies hard and was really accurate.Remington hollow points (45 grn) was its bread an butter round.
+Saltydog45 I've got a heap of them loaded up now mate. The Hornady BEE's. Haven't tried them because I've been using my big guns a lot more lately. Looking forward to it.
I was just looking around for prices for 22 hornet and found this vid. What do you know it's an Aussie review. Excellent comparison and it's much better seeing it in AUS $.
yeh mate no drama. hope you find a ammo that works great for you. I have another one where I did a couple of handloads as well. VMax 35gr projectiles are great.
out of curiosity, it seems the .22 hornet cartridge costs almost the same price as a .222 or .223 cartridge, wouldn't it be more value to have a .222 or .223, or maybe even a .204 ?
mate you are dead right it definitly is more economical to go for a .223. i wouldn't run the .204 but definitly prefer the .223. i like the hornet cause i can be shooting at one end of one of the smaller properties and the animals at the other end aren't going anywhere, but yes you get so much more for your buck on the others.
MIM94 Yeah, #1.where you're shooting and how far is a point to the Hornet. #2 I think a lot of the cost comes out when you start re-loading #3 The price is artificial. Dealers all seem to have SOME but charge more than it used to be because it's not high demand and taking up shelf space. Used to be much cheaper #4 I think there's a lot of potential and diversity with a 22 Hornet. On the tables you can load very low all the way up to a 55gr slug and get close to 222 performance. #5 It's a re-loadable 22! which was great when all the LR started disappearing and 5.56 got way too popular and expensive. My AR-15 is a voracious cow that grazes expensively. Great to hammer at 400 yards, but killing paper at 100-200 it's a waste. But yes, definitely that is at reloading cost not store prices.
yeh mate completely agree with you, on the costs. The rising of the cost due to low demand seems to be a thing around hey, but makes no sense cause low demand should drop the price. but all good cause i reload now and have a few "cheaper" factory loads i can use. great chat dude thanks.
You would be better off with a 223. New ammo is the same price or cheaper in bulk and reloading it is cheap with free brass pretty much anywhere and cheap bulk 55 gr projectiles However if you have a 223 and you want something just for fun the 22 hornet is a great round for a reloader. Sips powder and bullets are pretty cheap. Brass is your only hang up
Not to me I already have a 257 weatherby.I need something 200 yards or less I reload my self I'm thinking 22 hornet k or 204 based off the 22 hornet case.
Hey Mate, To be honest i haven't done enough research on K-Hornet to go ahead. Plus with what i need it for Hornet doesn't let me down. I have .223 if need any more punch at this stage, but may look into it in the future.
I know it may be Australian dollars, but $2.40 a round is way expensive ammo! I would definitely start to bow out @ $1.00 per .22 hornet round, tops! Am I cheap? Am I delusional? Or, am I trying to keep it real? Either way, thanks for the demonstration and comparisons, in your video.

MIM94 Hi why does the Cz win every time ? Wondering as I’ve have the same choice...

+SharpeyeHodgey Aweesome mate! good luck! i have great results with those BEE's. Only issue is they were the worst to seat.

I just bought 10 boxes of 50 rounds each for $11.64 USD

I'll post a vid of groupings from some hand loads soon too. Probably going to get footage of various .270win rounds this weekend.
have you ever considered reaming the chamber for .22 K-Hornet?
Hey Mate, To be honest i haven't done enough research on K-Hornet to go ahead. Plus with what i need it for Hornet doesn't let me down. I have .223 if need any more punch at this stage, but may look into it in the future.
Why?
How does the .22 Hornet compare to the .22 Magnum?
+Knuckle_Bump It just has a bit more omph. Mine is accurate to 200m but after that drop is too severe and velocity too slow.
+StellarBlue1 Nah it is far too expensive mate. it is ridiculous.
