This is really useful! I always wondered how people go on flights with fursuits, they're so big and bulky, but vacuum packing the body and just having the head as carry-on makes sense
some people have REALLY BIG SUITS and they need to have additional luggage. but ya! this is how i do it.

I have a small pocket vacuum I got at Walmart (about the size of a single foot) that I stuff into my suitcase alongside the vacuum bags.
Saves me so much stress at the return end of the trip. I can fit an entire week of clothes into a loaf about the size of a loaf of bread.
And I do NOT want to repeat that without a vacuum assist. I don't have the mass to do that.
What do you use to reseal the bags when coming back from the convention do you use like a vacuum at the hotel or do you have one small enough to bring with you ???
i use the weight of my body. i re-seal them and then slowly push air out (too fast blows the bag open) and it works pretty well! i usually have a lot more space on the way back because i bring lots of gifts for my american friends :>
I wish I could go to a convention! I have always wanted to but never been able too. Hopefully soon

I have a few tips for fellow young furs (packing style)
Make sure you have a parent or guardian with you while packing!
Make sure you have someone coming with you to the convention (Parents ect)
Make sure you pack things that wont get lost!
Toys and other objects i don’t take since their is no room!
If you have a suit, maybe only take the head, paws and tail. As a young fur wearing a full suit can be overwhelming!
At the convention there are under 18 also known as young fur rooms you can chill at.
Make sure you have someone you know with you in the apartment
Don’t tell anyone if your going at school. Teachers will find out and they will be confused.
Make sure you check the age limits for the cons. If it’s 18+ don’t go, you are putting yourself at risk!
If you are from another place that is not the states (like me, that’s why I added it) make sure you bring food or other objects with you from your country!
Make sure a parent checks your bag before you go.
BRING AND COUNT MONEY don’t bring too much or too little, it’s a high chance you will be buying stuff :)

Vacuum seal bags and a travel Vacuum pump that inflatable mattresses come with is a must for stuff like this.

it usually takes me about 2-3 hours to pack lol

Using the vacuum bags to save space is really smart! How do you get them vacuumed at the hotel?
i use the force of my body by laying on them gently and slowly letting the air out. it's not as fancy as the vacuum but it works!
Could you do a video/checklist for if you aren't staying at the hotel? (I'm assuming if the convention is happening nearby you don't have to book a room) if my assumption is true, than most cons I will go to if I go to any will be nearby. There is one happening soon that I want to go to and since I have never been to one before, I need all the tips I can get. (Also hopefully if you aren't staying at the hotel you don't have to pack nearly as much)

(tho I'm not flying there, if I ever DO decide to fly to a convention, this is going to be extra helpful, I didn't know luggage had a weight limit! Haven't been on a plane since I was 5 back in the 90's...)
Also, I totally do that with my neck fur on my fursuit head too. (Also tend to stuff the arm sleeves and hand-paws in the head as well, they all just fit inside snugly too. ^_^)
that also works! i just wanted to keep my carry on as light as possible because id be carrying it everywhere. but yes that is a good idea if you can handle the extra weight ☺️

@zeekayart actually not. I was not allowed to check in another package and they said at terminal that it is too big for carry-on. So I wore it. Most miserable flight cause tail makes you sit almost on edge of the seat.
