    40:16 - I'm not a native English speaker which perhaps explains why I for many years thought the idiom was 'no holes barred'. It turned out I just have a dirty mind.

      mate, “no holds barred”. It is a term from wrestling. Best wishes from Australai.

      For years my sister thought Americans called "Fire in the hold" before an explosion. I could never convince her it is "Fire in the hole".

      @barkebaat (4 years later) I've heard from people who've learned English as a 2nd language that our idioms are the most challenging. (When an alarm is set off, it makes a sound. When a radio is turned off, it doesn't.) But your post made me laugh! I love it when non-native speakers come up with great English wordplay!

      I disagree - I think he has been one of the weaker panelists ever BUT each to their own - enjoy

      Did you notice Ringo in the group pic (25:05)? I don't know who he looks like, but it's not Ringo. Maybe a young Ian Hislop with a bad toupee.

    Damn that was one of the best line flubs I’ve seen any of the shows, and with Paul giving him shit the whole time… But I do have a question.
    Why do they include the mistakes and reading errors? I guess I thought they would cut them out. I mean I know they’re funny but if they’re going to be included anyway then why does the host always reread them? Sometimes multiple times

    • @lindahart6049
      @lindahart6049 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      They aren’t included in the original, shorter broadcast, which is about 25 minutes long. This is the extended version, and these often includes flubs and also bits that aren’t included in the original broadcast.

    I need more slapstick and a lot less political jibber jabber to get my attention. And the collapsing of the guy’s chair delivered well.

    • @beenaplumber8379
      @beenaplumber8379 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You'd think when the first piece broke, he'd get up and ask for a new chair. He didn't. He played it cool. He kinda asked for it. That makes it more funny to me. That plus the look on his face during that Wile-E-Coyote moment when he realized he was going down!

    27:00 how much was he paid? Surely he got robbed during this program, because initially it was worth 10k and now only 2k.

    Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
    Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
    Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
    Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
    Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"
    Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky."
    Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
    Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
