Regarding your comments about The Last Dance, once a year I reread sections of Alex Hutchinson's Endure to cultivate the mindset needed to inflict pain on myself in competition. And once a year, I rewatch The Last Dance to cultivate the mindset needed to inflict pain on other people in competition. This practice has served me well.

Loved this interview! No way I’m betting against Hayden at Black Canyon. We need more interviews like this. Your podcast interviews are becoming the most compelling conversations

If I was a Black Canyon competitor of his and watched this interview, I would be thinking that he is taking one of the spots.

In an extremely tough, stout field no less! He will absolutely have earned it if he gets one

I am shocked Hayden was doing no strength work prior to his injury?! So he’s back and better than ever!

Yeah, this is going to be everyone pushing each other to the limit. 😅 with that said, Hayden seems like he's as ready as can be 💪 to place on the podium.

Absolutely Hayden, the Black Canyon course has a lot of ups and downs or micro elevation. I have run the 60K four times and my Wife and I live near the course. It’s a beautiful region of Arizona.

Agreed..with those Bradshaw mountains in the background..the ambiance is incredible

I love Hayden’s thought of getting comfortable in my own head and running alone. I completely understand this after running 75 ultra marathons. We really have to learn how to manage our selves during all of our ultras and listen to our bodies. There is something so empowering about knowing when to push or let off the gas pedal.

Know thyself, was the phrase that came to my for me during that section of the interview..agree totally and for many reasons, its hard to do that in today's age..thanks for watching too!

That was a brilliant interview, thanks. Some great questions too. Main takeaway for me though, is he saying the Walmsley prototype is a separate model to the Tecton X3? As that's VERY intriguing...

I really hope that average and normal trail runners like myself understand that 100g of carbs per hour is not a thing we should ever be trying for or training for. I love watching interviews with elites but I need to remind myself that what they do and what I do are a thousand miles apart.

    • @runsingletrack
      @runsingletrack  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Is it for sure the case that mid and back of the pack runners shouldn't experiment with increasing their carbs per hour intake? Also, thanks for watching!

@@runsingletrack I don't think that someone like me who is running Black Canyon and looking to finish at 15 hours should be looking at HH and saying "well he's taking in 100g of carbs per hour so I should too". I think there is a point of diminishing returns in something like that where I'm not burning or using the amount I'm taking in. Sure, increase and always look at ways to improve, but tailor it to your level not to a level of an elite (unless that's your goal of course). Love the channel!!!

Appreciate ya! For the record, I don't know the answer here myself, just asking out of curiosity..my gut was telling me (no pun intended, ha) that if you are able to eat more in races it would help anyone of any ability in-race (and also expedite post race recovery)..but just a hunch..thanks for making me think!@@ericfenske1138

The last time I heard someone that confident about their nutrition/hydration strategy was Tom Evans before UTMB. We all know how that turned out.

2 years ago Hayden was saying he was so proud of himself because he wasn’t overtraining and was only running 80-100 miles a week and that he used to overtrain . then last year he was doing 120-140 mile weeks and said it wasn’t too much for him when it clearly was too much for him. lol

4 “to be honest with ya”s in the first 3.5 minutes, 5 in the first 4 minutes. Hard to listen to.

I appreciate you watching and the comment, but you seem to not enjoy most of these interviews and bring negativity to a lot of the comment sections (which is fine), but I just wanted to check in anyways and remind ya that if these are hard to watch, you are under no obligation to continue watching! Don't let me contribute to your suffering! - Finn
