Cory just ordered $450 of rare fish but they're kind of finicky and one of them isn't doing well. Will they all make it? After the unboxing, it's off to the Aquarium Co-Op fish store to keep working on the renovations and the giant 1,500-gallon aquarium.

This is totally the content I'm looking for! A personal unboxing AND a store update (and Dean). Thanks for sharing, Cory. 😊
Haven't watch cory in a while , and I missed these videos !
My dude, what are those smooth triangle rocks? They’re weird but I like them
Good to see dean!!
Loved this video! I don't even ship fish and I have major issues with how they shipped. Doesn't look like they inverted the bags to round the corners. Not enough air space in the bags. That heat pack should have been in a paper bag taped to the lid of the Styrofoam. Thry should have each been in a bag alone, especially for fish that are that expensive AND are known to not ship well. I'd be having words with their customer service for sure, if it were me...
Bummer on the packing. Hopefully the fish survive for you.
Thanks for the unboxing. Its always valuable for us to see how the fish arrive on the other side. Getting rerouted and spending the night on a freezing tarmac in Idaho definitely threw my heat pack game off. I'll need to adjust for that. Thanks for the feedback.
Hi guys. Happy New Year. Rich Andy.
*Don't forget to check out our last video where Cory gives us a tour of his entire fish room after its recent makeover!* th-cam.com/video/dcXmPpUgNCk/w-d-xo.html
My cypts took well over a year to color up. Even when I purchased 3f and 2m adults. As you stated they really don’t like shipping and or being moved. I’ve upgraded mines tank a couple times and each time theirs a period where the males refuse to show colors. As with most tanganyikan species be patient. Love your videos cory
Corey is BAAAAACK! Love the content volume lately. Can’t wait to make the drive from Graham to come visit when it’s all up and running. Thank you for keeping all of our aquarium goals alive 🫶🏼
Hey Cory, don't worry about how you look while unboxing fragile fish (or any fish) ❤. Also, re those heat packs, I used to get the 10 hour hand warmers for use while waiting for public transportation to work. They definitely need a little bit of air space for the chemical reaction. I used to put mine in a baggie when I got to work in the morning to stop the reaction so I could re-use them in the afternoon! I hope the company takes your critique to heart.
I love seeing this type of video! I truly appreciate your honesty and input regarding the new fish and shipping procedures. I also get all fan-girly everytime Dean is on the scene!!!😅 Murphy is going to love his new mansion!❤
Cory's got the most unecessarily cool and badass chair and I love it lmao
It's probably a bit late in the game, but for larger tanks that can take a while to drain, I add a second bulkhead down low with a valve tied into the drain. I leave the valve closed until I need it.
Unboxings are absolutely the content I'm looking for! :)
two weeks high protein diet make color pop, living worms or the brine shrimp but your the expert im not
I think those cyprichromis would show you better color if kept with darker substrate. Worked at a fish shop in the past and my boss was super into these and we had this same issue and changed over the sand in a 180 gallon to a darker mix and definitely got darker and more vibrant colors on the males.
Maybe, they already have a black background. I’ve bred cyps for years and never had a problem with substrate color with other types of cyps on the same substrate
@@AquariumCoop I remember seeing some people discussing coloring up fish and someone said they notice color changes with Substrate color wayyyy more than background.... So I still think it's worth a try. I think it would be a nice experiment to do one day too!
Had to laugh when Dean said he has the fish you ordered. Thanks for the video. Be well
Thats why my go to is dans fish! Expensive but worth it!
I love unboxing fish . It's just like Christmas. Thanks for sharing. The New store addiction looks great can't wait to see when it's done.
Really liking these types of videos again. All Cory all the time!
UPS sucks, they always have issues with their shipping.
Love that your videos are back! Also good for you on going to the gym! Good work keep it goin 🤘🏼
I really appreciate these kind of videos. Information is HUGE. Thanks so much!! USA
Those Harbor Freight tools are absolute garbage...!!! I will never buy that crap...! Milwaukie only...!!! Thanks, keep up your awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...! Also, don't forget to compliment someone today...
Hey Cory, do you plan on fixing the fatal design flaw and poor quality of the aquarium coop heaters? Or are you just going to continue to sell a product that is ineffective?
We log all error codes and track any defective product we are made aware of and work with the manufacturer to make tweaks to improve them. There are subtle differences that customers can see in new updates builds, like led color, amount of transparency over the leds, color of the logo and more. These along with purchase date help us track defects back to batch numbers and categorize failure rates appropriately.
Heyy that's my area code there... They must be located somewhere near Batavia Illinois
I googled it... They're in oswego where I ALSO used to live 😂
Thanks Cory. This is the kinda stuff that inspires me! Love seeing you and Dean troubleshoot your way through annoying issues when DIYing. Glad to know things don’t go as planned for the pros too.
Slow your drill down when your drilling acrylic. It won’t melt like that.
Excellent video ❤ Thank you! It's great that Dean has the same fish! Better genetically ❤ Happy New Year!
can t beat cory and dean together in video s
Basic shipping for such special fish😳
I suspect that the light colored sand is causing the male Cyprichromis to wash out their colors just like rainbowfish, even with the black background. I bet if you put them in an aquarium with black sand or gravel, those fish would show better colors. The fish could also still be starving, so they won’t show good colors either when they’re hungry, but you probably already know that since you’ve been keeping aquariums longer than I have.
Maybe I'll try switching em over to a black bottom tank. However I've bred lots of cyps and different types, all looked great over the same substrate.
Very nice video. Im in no way jealous of the big tank.😅
Hardwork! Worth every bit.
Drill slow and Watercool the holesaw while drilling.
And in the bonus bundle. Dean.
Team aquarium co-op awesome video Corey Love all the videos the co-op puts out just a couple of the boys hanging out Cory and Dean working on the fish room the place is looking awesome. Wish I could visit the store one day it be awesome to see you in person. Anyway see you on the next one keep up the great work hard work but Allworth.
@dansfish start shipping deans fish please!!!!
Cory, I know you won't do it but I really wish you would sell fish on line. I know you would provide superior fish and shipping.
I have in the past, but it's so stressful. I honestly believe Dans fish is the best I've seen. Even better than Greg Sage. I'm gonna visit his facility this year to learn even more.
Hey Corey can you please set up a tank using only items from temu.............
Verus a tank set up from your merchandise
Love that you have to consider Murphy's wake when filling the tank 😊
Aught to spray water on your hole saw while you're drilling the acrylics
Yeah, I've drilled hundreds of holes in acrylic and never needed to before, but in the future would probably setup for it with this thick of acrylic.
Right on Cory.
Rule is, water when you drill acrylics and oil when you drill metals🐟
"Alive but cold" me since September
😂
Hopefully they do well. btw, love the bench you are sitting on. The carving on the back is gorgeous. Edit: watching you guys work on Murphy's tank kills me. Here I am fussing about setting up my 2nd tank (20g) and there you are with that big ass tank lol
Kinda feel like the bags are way to full of water to like maybe half the bag of water would be have been fine and like injected CO2 more oxygen and less water I would have been even happier with 🤷♂️
Had the exact same cyprichromis twice first group that I got was garbage. Even when breeding colors just didn't come out. Second group, much better colors just popped!! but they do take a bit to settle in
i know people will balk at your acclimation, but its really no big deal going from cool to a few degrees warmer. going from warm to cool, warrants a different approach.
I myself have never had a problem acclimating or not. That being said, when it’s “sensitive” species and on camera, if I skip steps and something goes wrong. The internet gets their pitchforks out.
That being said without running studies looking at blood for stress levels, just because a fish survives doesn’t mean it’s best. Also acclimating with floating or stop has its own things that can go wrong as well. I’d say follow the shippers directions to have recourse if there are any problems.
I do as Cory and have never had a problem acclimatizing...
My favorite freshwater fish is cyprichromis leptisoma. I hope the ones holding of yours successfully hatch out their fry and the babies avoid being eaten. I also hope the adults acclimate completely, get quickly comfortable with their new home and are not full of parasites...although that one really is scrawny.
Thanks for the build updates. It's coming together nicely.
Q - I started a new plant tank. I used aqua soil covered in sand but the back is not fully covered with sand. I used river rocks. My plants melted quickly. I put a little of your all green fertilizer in the beginning. Little nitrate little nitrite but danger ammonia at this point 5 days later. Please help what I should do? I can’t find any videos in my situation.
Cyprichromis at 73F? Seems too low to me. I keep mine at 80. I just started growing out baby Melanotaenia boesemani with my Cyprichromis school. The M. boesmani add a bit more color to the mix and they get along really well with the Cyprichromis.
Cheers,
Chris
really surprised the shipper didn't put anything in the bottom of the polystyrene box to cushion the fish from shocks to box during transport
Corey,
It’s important to go the gym, not just wear gym clothes.
Please look after yourself.
Need to get a temp gun, they work instantly accurate and amazing, it’s how I do water changes at the same temp. No contaminating equipment since it doesn’t touch the water, and they are inexpensive. 😅
I haven't ordered from Dan's fish yet but have seen his warehouse walkthroughs in the past and was VERY impressed. As you said seeing the tank and the fish stock that you'll actually be receiving certainly bolsters confidence in what is already a highly regarded and respected business in the industry.
They are my only choice for online fish orders unless I need something they don't choose to carry and I can use a vendor I trust.
Seeing the cloudy bag in this video reminds of why I stopped ordering from another vendor - shipped me 8 saes in 1 bag, only 1 arrived barely alive and the ammonia was 9ppm. A second order of large roseline sharks arrived 4 in a bag and so starved they died within an hour of unboxing.
The best kind of video!
A while ago, I decided to upgrade from a simple, bitter tank to plants, but I faced a problem with the aqua soy that spewed sand, so I got up and dried it, and then when I put it in the tank with some plants, the water stung, so I turned on the filter now. Is this normal? + Ammonia in the tank: 1 on the strip for the test
Sorry guys can't get dressed can't shower because there's a time limit on these rare fish, then decides to talk about the heat pack for 20 minutes😂
we gotta see whats new with deans fish room tour soon
I recently dipped my toe into cyprichromis and I’m already thinking I should convert another 75 over to them. Glad to see they came in well - all the best
One of my favorite fish to breed Corry these are expensive fish because they don't have to many fry at once
So my sister blessed my with 200usd to use at the store. You guys open New Year’s Eve?
One of those female cyprichromis is carrying a brood. She didn't abort them through the stress of shipping
hey corey did you ever end up finding those red muzel tetras from the germany video?
Heatpacks are for NON SEALED boxes as they need oxygen. The sealed box is perfect for frozen goods or things you don't want *warming up*.
I remember in a livestream ages ago you talked about recreating a cyprichromis/shrimp/val tank you once had, and its great to see it finally happening!
Yeah unfortunately I'm not live streaming... but it gives me the time to be in the fish room!
what is that striped stone in the QT tank?
Purple jade rock, we sell it at the retail store.
actually love watching the drill go to work
I like your contents, always informative and educational.
Loving this content, more like this please!!! Happy New year!
Me, checking youtube: "Sweet Aquarium Co op has a new one... 55 MINUTES!?" *grabs pretzels and pepsi and gets comfy*... "Thats what I`m talkin about."
The "Display vs. Result" issue is HUGE with this hobby. When I sell mine (on eBay), I put a link to a video of them on my youtube page, in my descriptions, to ensure my customers know what theyre getting.
I'm glad you like it. I'm hoping more people settle in like this ;)
Corey, hope all the fish are doing well. 🫢
... How do you do maintenance on a tank that big? Can you sit on the top?
It's strong enough you can sit on it, I don't go out of my way to do it. But in general any big maintenance means getting into it.
I've ordered plants from aquarium coop and they are always the best you can get I've tried many other online vendors but aquarium coop is top shelf they are more expensive but worth it. I still have an anubis I bought of of them 3 years ago
Thanks for the testimonial ;)
LOVE UNBOXING... EXCITRMENT!
Like those rocks. Where did you get them? 😅
My red eye puffers took a month to fully get their colors.
Then again my albino long tail cherry barbs never quite turned red
Also, they really should have been more air/oxygen in the bags, and less water in the bags.
What substrate is in the 125??
Dean is a celebrity
I think I speak for most of your audience when I say your high production values are super cool and do make your content better. However, not doing that doesn't make your content bad. The topic and information covered is significantly more important.
What are those rocks
love these 'a day in a life' videos
After your last video I immediately jumped online to grab some of those yellow hifin platies. I cant wait for them to arrive
They are sweet. I kinda have an addiction to dansfish currently. I think I’ve ordered 2 more times since this lol
@@AquariumCoop your unboxing/criticism video helped me make the decision to order from them. Thanks for taking the time to go through it for us!
All my purchases from Dan are healthy/happy/hardy. He's doing it right ✅️
LOL their logo
Nice video. Well edited, but with so much in it. I believe our local fish store in Boise, ID had those same Africans. This was years ago, but they ordered them in and had them forever, it seemed. They never colored up, and were pricey. I think they are nice, regardless because of their mid water almost schooling habit. In a large enough tank with other Africans they would still look cool. Maybe they do color up when breeding, or after a lengthy acclimation period.
That's pretty funny that Dean had those same Limia already, I remember him bringing a couple pairs to a GSAS auction last year. I hope to try out that species (or Limia Islai) myself at some point.
Glad I'm not the only person who separates a giant burrito into multiple meals!!!
Like I always say, Female Platies are pretty much always buy one get a few free.
It's like platies are part tribble! 😂
Your new store is Beautiful Cory, I am looking forward to the Grand Opening tour 👍💯🐡
Too late now but if only there were a half dozen 50-gallon BRUTE totes around to save that 200+ gallons of good tank water that went into the sewer. Exactly what every brand-new fish store needs to have handy for dozens of uses. Our electrical contractor used them for holding fluorescent tubes he was swapping out from the rafters.
That coldness could really be used he in Toronto. It's pretty warm for winter, outdoor ponds still not frozen. Its sweater weather when it really should be parka (anourak/jacket) weather.
Why didn't you guys putty puddle while drilling to cool it?
In the past, I've never needed to do that on an acrylic tank. We also didn't need to do that on the side hole we drilled before and the side was thicker than the top. But next time we probably will as it's not much order to do that, we just didn't have any putty on hand either.
I did Cyprichromis leptosoma for a year or two and their colors never “popped”. Their behaviors were interesting to watch but just not that exciting.
Only unboxing I'll watch and without shame =)
Hey Cory 👋It's been a while - Nice to see you are doing well and sharing good info with fish keepers and not yet fish keepers 👍 Cool pick ups BTW!
Holy cow. I’ve been watching you for years. I’m now having to sit through 5 or six ads at a time that I can’t skip. I might as well be watching regular tv. 😞
Great video however for future reference pour water on the area your using the hole saw if you are able too this will drastically lower cutting temps.
Hi Cory, Great video on the unboxing. I really appreciate seeing the expansion of your store.keep the video coming longer the better.
John
This was fun, Cory! And informative. I'm sure Dan will respond 😊
