Mixed by Me
After an arduous final battle with Odin, the All-Father was finally brought to his knees by Kratos, Freya, and Atreus. The boy berates Odin for his wrongdoings but tries to sway him from the destructive path for knowledge that led him to where he is now. Odin refuses, “I will never stop.” With those words said, Atreus casts a spell, extracts Odin’s soul from his body, and places it in a Giant Marble. With the All-Father’s soul in the palm of their hands, the three then contemplate what to do with it.
The answer, however, might be easier than they think… 🔨

I often think that it's funny that after all the atrocities and all the hate he had committed against the giants out of pure fear, it was the giants in the end that showed Oðin mercy in the end and held him as he died.
Deliverance, Salvation, for Baldur’s theme. Liberation for Odin. Fitting, lots of parallels between father and son. Even their death scene, being held as they die, being the final boss and likeness etc. Almost a tragedy to the death of this version of Odin.
0:09-0:20 You can 100% feel Atreus' disappointment and pity for Odin.

I love the voice that have been used for his theme, i cant stop to think the Voice are the last thinks and voice of odin... Beautifull and magistral...
That's the first thing I noticed when I got at this moment... I wasn't that surprised by the soul being trapped with the magistral music but was more amazed by these voices

Prophecy said Kratos dying on hands of Atreus but Odin died on hands of Atreus 🥶

the prophecy saw Kratos dying in the hand of Atreus with some sort of Golden wind (the soul) coming out of kratos mouth. In the game we saw Odin "dying" in the hands of Atreus with his soul coming out through his mouth. Maybe this is the real meaning of the prophecy we saw in the stone slab.
@Ale Joestar I think that originally was Kratos was supposed to die, probably after fighting Thor, but he refused to fight and changed the prophecy and his future.
In fact the prophecy where he is worshipped is drawn over his death prophecy.
@H.H. fan yes the orginal prophesy thor was supposed to kill Kratos but Kratos changed his ways earlier in the game thus change his fate

0:45 prophecy adverted
No, this was always the prophecy. We just assumed it was Kratos in the prophecy but it was actually always Odin.
@@empoleon1001 No. It was supposed to be Kratos. The mural was pretty clear , not ambiguous. Kratos and Odin switched places , because Kratos was able to change his ways , and Odin didn’t.
“We open our hearts to it” - Kratos
“I will never stop” - Odin.
If Kratos didn’t spared the midgardians , he wouldn’t want to spare Thor, he would not hold back, Thor wouldn’t either, and would end up killing Kratos.
The norns said we are the sum of our choices and since our choices are predictable, it’s easy to predict the future. They thought Kratos would continue to be the same monster he had always been.
But he didn’t, he changed , he made a different choice , and thus changed his fate.
@@edrick106 The one Atreus saw from Angrboda does look like Kratos but the one in the 2018 ending looks like Odin (the eye patch and no red tattoos). I do agree with everything else you said though.
@@empoleon1001 The one in 2018 was STILL supposed to be Kratos. Faye broke the mural because she didn’t wanted to accept Kratos’s death. The figure has red tattoos , not black tattoos like Odin has.
The mural was pretty clear... on what the Giants _thought_ would happen.
The writing is extremely clever in these two norse games. There's foreshadowing all over the place for this "twist" of Odin dying instead of Kratos, from the first time we see Sif to Groa's prophecy being a lie and many instances in-between.
There are several points in the story that are meant to make us question the validity of the Giants' prophecies. We're shown that they can misinterpret their own prophetic dreams, that we can misattribute characters, etc.
It _was_ always Odin. We were just intentionally misled.
To this day I'll never understand why they didn't release this with the other soundtrack 1:55 is where it's at for me idk y but it's so good

not gonna lie. same. i wish he wasn't so consumed by his thirst for knowledge. he could have still lived.
Did Odin’s soul simply dissipate into nothing forever or did it go somewhere else? I know his lifeless body was destroyed when Ragnarök came for Asgard but I do suspect that his soul is still out there somewhere unless proven otherwise.
If only we could get this with better sound quality, actually heartbreaking this isn't on the OST

Odin was not a nice God. You just gloss over the fact that he's responsible for wiping out the Giants cus they were stronger and morally smarter than he was. He could not manipulate nor subjugate, so he destroyed them.

I've played through both games fully several times and I still don't understand why Odin became the enemy. He apologized for Magni and Modi, then offered peace. Kratos had no reason to get involved with anything Odin did after that point. It was more or less awful writing
played twice and have no idea what you played, this is exactly why i don't have any hope for this generation's ability to comprehend complex story. If you have at least one fucking braincell thats half working, you'd have noticed one MAJOR plot point of the entire 2 games, ODIN NEVER KEPT HIS PROMISE, he lies to everyone, even Asgardians themself just so they can benefit him. He will not keep his promise, if he did, GoW 4 story wouldnt be like that
Beside from that LITERAL plot point, odin literally massacred the entire jotun race, and kratos's wife is one of the jotnar
