This one is a grower, when I was younger I never liked this song, now it’s one of my favourites :) bass line is killer, one of my favourite bass lines of all time.
Rain was their first released psychedelic song but second recorded. What they should've released was Tomorrow Never Knows the revolutionary psych song - way ahead in several ways but they chickened out. When you hear it you'll know what I mean ! 😹👁️🌈
respect your opinion but if we say this is best what beatles have then they are okay band, but I think they are N1 in the world they have like 100 better songs
Though not my favorite Beatles song, it was not a filler song. It was the B side of Paperback Writer. What makes it interesting is the sound and feel of the song. They recorded the backing track really fast. Then they played it back slow and sang on top of the slowed down tape. It makes it have a very heavy feel. If you want to be impressed by their playing, especially Ringo's, go on youtube and type "fast version of The Beatles Rain." It's pretty cool.
This was the flip side of Paperback Writer, and both songs were played extensively on AM radio. Released in May, 1966, this was the first widely heard psychedelic song, continued the Beatles status as cutting edge innovators, and blew my 11 year old mind. To call it a "filler song" is a misjudgement of stupendous proportions. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you don't listen to it a few more times. Then listen to an under the radar great Stones song Child of the Moon, and Arnold Layne by Pink Floyd, which are direct progressions from Rain, and you will be listening to the birth of psychedelic music. The Beatles were leading the parade. Fun Fact: it is widely considered to be one of Ringo's most outstanding performances.
At the end, where you said the words didn't match John's lips, that is because that last part, after the song stops for a second and Ringo does that drum fill, the end of the song is played BACKWARDS, so what John was singing was played backwards on purpose. THAT is why his lips don't match, kind of hard to make your lips match to backwards words! LOL!! LOVE this song!!
definitely one of my favourites and also one of the first songs to use backwards sounds with vocals and guitars etc as was done with Lennon's song I'm Only Sleeping which was from the Revolver album and Paperback Writer and Rain were the singles that did not appear on the Album.
It's also one of my favourite songs. 🙂 The things that you hear in reverse at the end of it are "If the rain comes, they run and hide their heads" as well as "Raaaaaiiiin" and "When the sun shines".
I refer you guys to Howard Goodall's very interesting analysis of the Beatles songs particularly Tomorrow Never Knows ! It's a good and easy critique very enjoyable ! 🌈🤡
E M.I the British record company put 14 songs on a Beatles album but capitol the American record company released their albums with only 12 songs on, sometimes 2. of them being singles that had already been out and save up the spare tracks until they had enough to put out an extra album. The Beatles and E.M.l were not happy about this by but there was nothing they could do about it.
It's a well known fact that I just made up, that your Hair is connected to your Good Taste Gland. So the less Hair you have the less good taste you have. This really is true. Don't forget Ice Ice Baby was stolen from Queen and David Bowie.
Filler song? No-it was never on an album-it appeared as a b side on the single Paperback writer and also hit the charts. Important song in their catalog as it was the first backward vocal ever recorded which led to other backwards recordings of instruments and sounds (I'm Only sleeping etc) which led other artists to experiment and do the same.
It was interesting? This is not twee poppy nonsense. Making hits is not what music is about. It's not what art is about. All I can say is you obviously don't understand music. Perhaps you should try to find something else to do to make money. For your information this track is renowned worldwide, the bass and drums especially are unbelievable on this track. Why is the guy in blue continually ranting on about albums and hits (This isn't from an album and was not intended to be a hit, it was a 'B' side). Despite his claim at the end he doesn't know all things, in fact his comments suggest that he appears to know very little about music.
This song was not even on an album... It was a b side to a single. Nevertheless, I also like this song... Really different from their sound. Love Ringo's drumming and John's vocal on this.... A bit of backwards singing at the end of the song. Rain is just a state of mind!
You should listen and react to Paul McCartney band on the run and. Nineteen hundred and eighty five You both should listen and react to both of those two songs
Heard that song loads of times and like it but what is really notable is the music, great drumming, base, guitar. Hard also to get a real reaction as you are filming and thinking what you are going to say etc. It's also easier to appreciate that one if you are not so follicly challenged. ...Just sayin'
First of all: Milli Vanilli were pitiable idiots. Musically meaningless and forced to fake. Nothing more than a curiosity in the pop scene and I don't think Beatles fans waste much time on these "singers"... Secondly: it's irritating, that a Beatles fan doesn't know this track. Rain is the Beatles' first trip into the psychedelic environment. This alone broadens the spectrum of the 1966 music scene. McCartney's bass line is extravagant, Ringo Starr's drums underline the psychedelic sound with a rather unusual rhythm, which is rounded off with a (random) backwards part. In general, this track (and others from Revolver) already defines the Britpop of the 1990s.
Ringos drumming on this is next level. Way ahead of it's time.
DEFINITELY DRUMS
If you've ever heard the track at it's original recorded speed it's even more amazing. It was recorded way faster and slowed down to add the vocals.
Respect your opinions but this is one of my favorite Beatles songs.
Great song
Same!
Same
This one is a grower, when I was younger I never liked this song, now it’s one of my favourites :) bass line is killer, one of my favourite bass lines of all time.
Rain was an innovation.
Ice was stolen glory.
They recorded it at a much faster pace and then slowed it down when mixing it to give a certain feel and sound ...
The last part of the singing was backwards. John just mouthed some stuff. Also, Ringo's drums in this song are amazing.
They played the first part backwards at the end not John mouthing some stuff!!!
Thanks for featuring 'Rain' by the Amazing BEATLES.
Rain was their first released psychedelic song but second recorded. What they should've released was Tomorrow Never Knows the revolutionary psych song - way ahead in several ways but they chickened out. When you hear it you'll know what I mean ! 😹👁️🌈
The Beatles Best song!!! ❤
Today . Tomorrow it might be something else
respect your opinion but if we say this is best what beatles have then they are okay band, but I think they are N1 in the world they have like 100 better songs
One of the BEST songs they ever did. Period.
Though not my favorite Beatles song, it was not a filler song. It was the B side of Paperback Writer. What makes it interesting is the sound and feel of the song. If you listen closely, you can hear what Oasis sounds like now. The Beatles influence.
Oasis are a total joke, especially Liam. To cap that opinion off is the way they are fleecing their die hard fans with the concert ticket pricing.
@@Cybertruck1000 THEY WERE A FIDDLE, AND ARE STILL DOING IT TODAY.
Gabe hate to tell ya but Rain is placed on the top list of Beatle songs by the cognoscenti such as Rolling Stone ! 😹
Not only my fave Beatles song but my fave song of all time
One of the best bass lines in music in this song.
The song that Oasis based their entire career on.
Yeah it does sound oasis did actually on this one

only the vocals are backwards

I always reference this track, when anyone knocks Ringo as a drummer. It always blows them away 😂
The single (with "Paperback Writer") from the Revolver sessions. Peak Beatles for me!
The end was suppose to be in reverse. John accidentally loaded the tape backwards and liked it, so he kept it
You guys need to react to “day tripper” Beatles
So that part WAS backwards which is why John couldn't really sing it. The Beatles were very experimental with production.
I refer you guys to Howard Goodall's very interesting analysis of the Beatles songs particularly Tomorrow Never Knows ! It's a good and easy critique very enjoyable ! 🌈🤡
Maybe "Ice Ice Baby" was a hit because they "borrowed" the bass part, making it sound like a Queen song.
It was from under pressure the queen david bowie bowolie vanilla ice borrowed that from
A bit experimental , released with Magical mystery tour I think . Unmistakably Beatles but a bit of a drone for me .
no it was the single b side pre Revolver
Recorded in the Revolver sessions, was the B-side to Paperback Writer.
The last part WAS in reverse, john put the tape in backwards and it played backwards and said he was in a trance so added it in.

I love this song...still respect your opinion.

Rain is more Britpop than the 1990s. 😉. Great tune.

Think you should have at least highlighted what was some of Ringo's best drumming on any of The Beatles' songs.
YE FUCKING S

hope y'all still follow cricket in the background now that cricket is on in England & India for you to tune in the highlights everyday
Great song one of their best .
last 1 min in reverse
Imagine thinking “rain” was filler

No, most Beatle's fans do not like Milli Vanilli too.
The song ended backwards. The video was lip synched.
People with vanilla ears don't like this.

Yeah, not my favourite. Still, if any other band had done it they would have been regarded as geniuses
backward lyric. You are incorrect.
So dumb.
