  • It's one of cycling's oldest adages: a happy butt equals a happy bike rider. Indeed, nothing ruins a ride quicker than an uncomfortable saddle. The good news is that there are dozens of models to choose from, so if you're having issues don't be afraid to try a new one. And unlike some components on your bike, saddle installation is easy.

+Martijn Pool: You can put lube on the saddle clamp bolt(s) and seatpost clamp bolt to keep them from rusting, in the seat tube to keep the seatpost from seizing against the seat tube (use carbon fiber paste if the seatpost or seat tube is carbon), or between the seatpost clamp and the frame to prevent creaking.

Funny, came across this video, and this is the exact saddle I am replacing my old saddle with. I hope it’s a good one?

Hi, My mountainbike bike "White XC275" is a fantastic bike. But just recently I was riding in the woods and suddenly I hear a "tic" and I realise that my saddle is a bit loose. So when I get home I tighten the saddle screw so that it is secure again btw my saddle is a white sells Italia aswell. And the next day I go for a ride and after 10 minutes the same thing happens again. And my saddle post is just like the bike in the video. Do you know what the problem can be?

+Benjamin B there could be a couple of things going on. Maybe the bolt needs to be removed, clean it, re-grease it then thread into the clamp so that it is good and tight. Maybe Loctite needs to be put on the threads... Or, there could be an issue with the actual clamp that is causing the bolt to loosen in which he would need a new seatpost.

Too much time spent with video on you, rather than a close-up of the seat
