- In this sewing video, I'm taking on a 1950s sewing pattern to create a vintage-inspired dress. I'm excited to share the process, the challenges, and the unexpected twists and turns that happen with the sewing project and my life along along the way.
This project turned out to be more than just sewing; the sewing takes place during a time of dramatic changes in my life. Watch as I not only create a unique garment but also navigate a new path in life.

I am so sorry about the loss of your job, and I hope that you will find something even better very soon! The brown dress and red lip at the beginning of the video is a truly stunning combination on you. I really love the colour of the orange (my favourite colour is yellow, so I admit a bit of a colour bias). I like to style orange and yellow with greens, it makes me feel like a spring flower if that makes any sense.

Thank you, It’s the fabric. It’s such a casual fabric. I don’t want to call it cheap but….. it’s a day dress. Not an event dress not sure what I was thinking! But I will get some wear out of it!
The orange dress looks fabulous! I absolutely understand not feeling an outfit for an occasion but the cut and color are very nice and it will be a great dress for other things.

Personally I love the texture with the orange dress, could see this with like a rattan bag and sunhat and sandals!
I’ve been to nola twice and honestly, everything changes so much there I’m sure it’s all different. Best advice, be brave and go down those little back alleys. Best restaurants, cafes and bookstores I’ve found are in them! And wear good shoes, way more walking than you would think. Have fun!

The dress is cute with the earthy orange, perfect for fall. Do you think a full bust adjustment would be what you need or the sway back adjustment?
I'm sorry to hear about your job loss, their loss is your family's gain! 💙 You should go to hotel monteleone while you're in New Orleans! It is a hotel built in 1949 i think and they have a carousel bar! (You usually have to wait for a seat at the bar, obviously, but may be worth a visit for a fun cocktail!)

I lived in Louisiana for 4 years during law school and never had enough time to do all the fun things in New Orleans but make sure you have beignets and try to go to Emril Lagasse's restaurant.

I LOVE the orange!! You did a great job making it, but it does seem to big around the waist! I wonder if you could take it in a bit more? I like the design of the new one though, fingers crossed that one works out for ya!

I can definitely relate to this video and a new life direction. While I was not laid off, I did decide to leave my job without another position lined up. ❤ I too lost my job back in September, 2 weeks after a horrific car accident. I felt so betrayed an I still do. I traveled over 500 miles a week for work. I missed no days and always on time. I saw it coming too. I have suffered so much loss because of the it. But now I am focusing on taking care of myself and my husbnd. My faith has sustained me and I am starting to feel muh better. Sorry about your job loss. You can always start your own. Just a little bit of paperwork and a fee. I have one for the community stray cats. The color orange looks good on you. I too wish you used the beige of the dress with accents of orange on it. A tiny pop of color in collars, cuffs, lining, trims would go a long way. Hope you enjoy your getaway. So sorry about your job loss, the world is crazy right now. Glad you have a good outlook, i have to keep telling myself to look to the lord and give my anxiety and stress to the lord. A good getaway is always nice! Plus you do get to spend more time with the kids😊
