  • Installation of an Eaton True-Trac and new gears in the a Chevy that had a blown up rear end. This is my process of installing and setting up the gears.
    Note: This was a VERY late upload, for some reason I did not manage to upload last year...

    After watching this video I want you to replace my differential and I don't even have a problem with mine! I don't know if you intended for this to be an advertisement for your work but nice job. Great attention to detail. Seriously, you should drop your name and contact information I'm sure people will reach out to you! Thanks for sharing.

    Textbook!!! Best Chev Truetrac install video you will find on utube. This guy doesn't have a stupid into then the typical beg for likes/subscribes. Most videos for the chev truetrac install have detailed boring bs about what their dog had for lunch, and long winded ring gear install (the easy part), then they skip the hard part with video editing or claiming a camera malfunction.

    If it's all the same to you, bang per buck + instant results, it's hard to beat a Lincoln Locked diff I 100% recommend
    Lincoln Lock it can be done to last.

    So what about that piece in the center that’s left open? Isn’t there a piece that goes inside then u throw the cover on and then the snap ring bc you have yours wide open

    I had a truetrac installed on my 93 Chevy G20 van, same 10-bolt rear. I've been dealing with a clunking noise when coasting to a stop. I've taken it back to the shop for them to look at and they can't find an obvious cause. Eaton says something about using special carrier bearings and races on the install. What happens if they aren't used and OE style bearings are installed instead? Just curious if the shop I used was aware of that.

    Was that a chrome socket you put as a spacer instead of putting on the yoke when you were setting it up?

    I've never done this before, watching and learning. Many blogs of bla bla. From what I've seen, its safe to say that was a perfect pattern.
    Wants to do a posi on my 10bolt 323 because its starting to sound off. Its time and I want a 342 posi. Heard the differential needs to be for a 342 for it to work. Not looking for a race rear end because its a 4.8L 07 Silverado Classic 1500
    Thing Im curious about is putting the shim between the race and carrier rather than pinion and bearing. I understand thats a bigger diameter. Id rather do it that way because of no press. Should I trust honing out another bearing to find pinion depth? Would it be the same .035 for a 323 and 342? I just want to be knowledged up before starting.

      Are those bolts reverse thread? I had to look for writing to see if the camera was mirrored...

    • @ctrl3968
      @ctrl3968 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluebeast440 I am not sure. I am just referring to the way the guy double clicks the torque wrench on every bolt he tightens. You never double click a torque wrench. That's like the first thing you should learn as a mechanic, also how to run your torque wrench back to zero before storing it.

      @ctrl3968 ปีที่แล้ว

      @CardboardAidedDesign I'd have to say you don't know much more than the guy in the video.

    • @mycobsession

      I don’t propose to know the things this guy knows about rear ends but I did do structural testing on space craft at Lockheed for 20 years where I had to be torque certified every year and they mandate clicking the torque wrench only once 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @ctrl3968
      @ctrl3968 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mycobsession that's exactly what I was referring to also, I do not claim to know anything about vehicles or how to rebuild any of their parts. I do know however to never double click a torque wrench. My uncle was a mechanic for many years and I picked up on quiet a few things he taught me over the years. He taught me to never double click and to always run my torque wrench back to zero before storage.
