this song is REALLY REALLY REALLY hard for non-Koreans to understand. His goal was to rip the K-Hiphopers who were dissing him a whole new one and he did it in such a masterful way. Every line in this song is a mini context paragraph. He basically set the bar so high up that no one was going to go after his rap skill again. That was his goal. So when you said "stream of consciousness" that was exactly how he did it.
Ay, really appreciate that. Definitely had to tune in and it sucks the lyric translation wasn’t the best but I definitely enjoyed it and am glad I got that stream of conscious feel right. Thanks for the support! 🙌🖤
@@KnoxHill i love watching you react to them! thanks for giving them a chance and for helping us understand more about cadence, rhyme schemes and flows!
@@mnjx._.n It’s sort of a way of expressing your thoughts as they occur in that moment, rather than putting structure to them. For example, if you were writing in a stream of conscious, imagine putting the pen to paper and just writing, without thinking too much about what’s going on in your brain and see what you end up with. So RM kind of did this with Joke which is why it may seem a little random, it’s his flowing thoughts and it showcases his amazing ability with words. Hope that makes sense 😊

BTS and army believe rap ain't just about speed. But RM back then was getting a lot of hate because his rap verses focused more on lyrics and delivery than how fast he can rap. Joke was his answer to those so called 'rappers' who only spit words fast but with lyrics like 'bibidi babidi' (basically just saying any word that would go with the rhythm without having any actual meaning). Joke is full of wordplay (mostly korean which is why it's a bit tough to understand) but also a slap to haters (mostly underground rappers who criticised him ever since he left the underground rap scene). RM did this with a deviated nasal septum (which made it hard for him to breathe and caused inconvenience in daily life but he finally got a surgery for it in 2018)
Your comment is so right . He is a rapper who focuses more on lyrics than rapping fast . He loves music and wants to deliver a meaningful song to the world . Thank you for telling i didn't knew about his surgery . He did that fast rapping with nasal problem hats off to him 👏👏👏👏
The fact that he invited the haters to respond to this song, but no one ever has up to this point, proves his mastery of the genre and that they don't dare to actually make a move on them and will always just bark from a distance
Tbh, I don't think any of those who look down on BTS because they're idols are interested enough to check their stuff out... Also their mixtapes are not available on Korean streaming sites, nor on Korean Spotify or TH-cam.
RM made this to set the bar so high that the Korean hiphoppers who were dissing him wouldn't even be able to do so again, it had a purpose. 9 flows, no chorus, straight bars! 🔥 Joke is an intelligent sattire for people who think rapping fast without any meaningful lyrics and flow is cool or good. The bibbiby babbiby verse you heard him say is the joke of him dissing the mumble jumble rappers. Joke is not just "fast rap" with no meaning. RM is the KING of wordplays. He focuses a lot on lyricism, double/triple entendre and flow. He gets his inspiration from 90's hip hop if you wanna check out his first mixtape. Masterpiece! BTW he has an IQ of 148 and you'll see why his lyrics always have double meanings. HE'S THAT IMPRESSIVE 🔥🔥🔥
the beat is from the song "oh my darling" by run the jewels. Also he made this song because some people said he only focused on lyrics and couldn't rap fast. So this is just him showing people he can spit fast if he wants to but he chooses to focus on lyrics more.
I feel like in this particular piece RM is rapping like he has a ton of shit suppressed and repressed inside his head , all the hate he and BTS received, his words and flow is like coming out like a floodgate getting opened and everything is kinda overwhelming in a good way.. he is a genius.
Some wordplays involved for more context (copied from doolset bangtan) RM says, I’ll take ‘power’ off and call you ‘dear,’ Gonorrhoea 임 (im) itself means dear (lover). By replacing 갑 with 임, 갑질 becomes 임질, which essentially means gonorrhea. If we, however, stick to the word composition of 갑질, take 임 and 질 apart from each other, and interpret 임 as 임 (壬) in the천간 system and 질 as behavior/activity, 임질 becomes a behavior/activity of 임 (壬), which means someone who is sly and adulates his superiors. It’s also the second to last in the hierarchy order. Obviously just that one example shows how difficult it is to translate but it’s so exciting to do the extra reading!
Eonni is a word for older sister/older girl that females use when talking to them. So RM was basically saying that when girls see you they think you're a girl. I ain't Korean, but that's what I interpret it as :)
I literally waited for your respond to @@hobisfatbussy160.Right you can like some of their songs not their entire discography.hope you like their other songs .especially the rap?
I was really hoping that you would do this track by RM. I enjoy the way you dissect the technical aspects of the tracks you react to. Considering that RM himself said that Joke is a 'skills' kind of piece, it was interesting and educational how you broke down the flow pockets in the song. Obviously the difference in the language was there but you did not disappoint.
When Knox said ‘it’s like a stream of consciousness’, I was like, ‘that’s ma guy!’ Nail. On. Head! Obviously the lyrics are not translated well at all, but this song is so forceful and he uses some really interesting wordplays. Joke is no joke 🔥 You should definitely watch the mv Knox!
can't believe that in a minute and a half you deduced (and got right!) the meaning of the song's name this is the reason why i like your reactions, you pay attention to what you're hearing and you don't just react and go
i don't know a single thing about rap so i'm learning about it thanks to you, i'm now even more in love with their works knowing the effort the boys put in them
Wow. As a Korean, I'm so surprised at your interpretation.!!!! Actually you catched so many meanings even in korean cultural references and the main message throughout the song.😮😮😮
RM himself said it was a stream of conciousness so kudos for recognizing that straight off the bat Knox. There is an english subbed actual video for this where translator breaks down the Korean references alongside the subs. RM spits so fast tho it's very difficult to keep up without pausing every few seconds to read. Certainly worth a watch tho if you want to catch everything. Fun fact RM had a deviated septum when he recorded this so had breathing difficulties and he still managed to give us this!
Yes my man! Spot on! RM, as you know, received a lot of hate and criticism for leaving the underground rap scene and was mocked for pursuing a career as BTS. This song is his clap back to the haters. He is basically laughing at them, saying how easy it is for him to string together a load of words, and ‘look, yes I can go fast’ but that doesn’t make my lyrics more meaningful. When his lines don’t make sense…that’s exactly the point. He went into battle and fired shots, those ‘so called’ rappers have yet to clap back 😎 I am also always amazed by how fluidly he switches between English and Korean. Not to mention the wordplays that he does use are so complex. He criticises a whole rap culture with his skills. Don’t sleep on BTS rapline people ✊
Unnie (or eonnie) ist what girls call older girls, like "big sister", older guys would be called oppa by younger girls. So he says they're not men even in the eyes of younger women/girls with that line. Really hyped we got to see you listen to Joke and see your little finger bars going off to this xD didnt even notice the video going by
There's more wordplay in that song which is in korean preferences... There's more accurate translation to that w MV~ JOKE IS A FREAKING UNDERRATED MASTERPIECE 😬
@@yveltal3605 I get it. But it's a rap. Thats a genre. You can expect raps to have such things. otherwise it would be boring.(I'm talking about cuss words).
@@struggler856 no not cuss words Cuss words won't be disrespectful like that There was just something in there which people probably found offensive (some references in korean so we don't know how offensive that might have been or simply just not offensive. We don't know)
Towards the end RM said… (taken from muish) Yeah i gettin on em bitch gettin on em rich Son of beach (in Korean), you’re son of a beach I shine like unpolished jewel, like son of a Jadeite . (Jadeite in korean is “beach”) I’m a monster, so son of a Stitch (movie “Lilo and Stitch” reference) The translator here put ‘seaside’ and ‘jade’ 🤦♂️😂 but you can see how the rhyme scheme should have been 🔥
You got it! RM made it as a FU to other rappers dissing him for signing with an idol company after doing underground rap before BTS. They questioned his abilities to rap fast as if that was all that mattered. So he wrote Joke which is a mix of jibberish and brilliant wordplay to say that it's not only about speed, content is also important. He's a f...ing lyrical genius! (Litterally - he has an IQ of 148! 😏)
Oooh that lyric video was the worst 😂 Aw sometimes I think you must think we over exaggerate how good their rap is but I PROMISE the real lyrics do them justice. The wordplay in this song is seriously insane. Also there was a cool reference to ‘Forever’ by Em, Lil Wayne, Drake and Kanye. When RM is saying bibidi babidi etc he’s imitating rappers who can only rap 3 characters at a time 🔥
Yes, you are right, he did say he wrote this song with a stream of consciousness style. He does it more in Mono, he has improved that writing style too. Most phrases of this song do make sense, in the verse in which he says more random stuff, he's basically trying to argue is: "see, I can rap fast and sound good/with cool flow, if I want, just like you say "real rappers should do" (he demonstrates that); but your meaningless words are not real rap, rap is about lyricism, about expressing a message that is true to yourself, what you say does matter, go sit down".
The MV is amazing! And some of this is him demonstrating flows and clapping back at haters who criticized his abilities while only being able to mimic generic rapping themselves so he added some of those I think sarcastically to make a point…but still kept genius wordplay to kind of say, I am more than just lyrics I am also technique but I can do both… 💜
Fun fact: Joon was an underground rapper from the age of 13-15 and most of the underground rappers were afraid of him and his raps. And when he left the underground scene he got criticized frome those underground rappers and joke was the answer to that. But if you meet joon irl now he's like the most humblest person I've ever known 🤧💜 He's the best leader too. That's why he's also known as president
I REALLYY WANT YOU TO REACT TO STRANGE BY RM AND AGUST D, but use the lyrics by zaty farhani since they are the closest to the accurate translations. I love what they are discussing about society in the song ! it's a part of Suga's second album that he uploaded for free back in 2020
You should react to Suga’s Interlude:Shadow. It’s a song that expresses the darker side to him and his fame. The song is a masterpiece and it discusses the shadow of himself as a character stuck in him in a metaphorical way.
At this point seeing him decording the songs without being an army reading the theories, i know he is that one in million who can decode BTS universe theory in one go💅
he is the first reactor that noticed all the different flows and most of the words play in this song . i bet he and rm can go really well together haha
The bar "With one mouth, two words, girls see & call you unnie" boils down to RM calling the other rappers bitches. The one mouth, two words is taken from a idiom about being two-faced & a real man sticks to one word; the word 'unnie' is a Korean term a younger female uses to speak to an older female.
I know its probably a lot of work to do it in the video, but after you record you should still check out the accurate translation just by yourself, so you can fully appreciate the song, I know a lot of ppl probbaly recommended doolset, it's a blog ran by a korean army who does amazing translations and gives references, not only cultural but also explains the word plays which are super important to fully understand the song! namjoon is an AMAZING writer and it would be a pity to just stay with the inaccurate translation, anyways thanks for the amazing breakdown as always! I hope you can keep exploring bts' music in the future
I second this Knox! Your reactions are amazing regardless, but we respect your opinion a lot and it’s a shame to not be able to fully appreciate the genius of their lyrics. Doolset or Muish are really good lyric aids 🙏
This whole track is answering his critics who said he wasn't a real rapper so in this single track he mocks them by doing all their styles better than them, doing flows they claim he can't do. He makes fun of how they steal other people's styles and lyrics. Also mocks how they put speed in rapping as priority but just end up making meaningless raps that don't make sense just so they can go fast
For the best translations i recommend using doolset lyrics, they also explain some of the cultural references when they translate as well. I really hope you try it out because it will make understanding what they're saying so much easier.
This was amazing! I think that the part where the lyrics are just random sounds could also be a shot at rappers who just rap random things instead of working on creating meaningful lyrics, like RM does. Also, you should really check out some of RM's newer songs, like "Seoul" or "Mono". They have really nice lyrics, they could almost be called poetry. Also Agust D's "The Last" is super powerful, and I highly recommend. Finally, J Hope also has some great stuff like "Daydream" and "Hope World". I love all of your reactions!! Thank you for reacting to them, and have a great day!! (P.S. - I really like your music on Spotify too :) )
Amazing Knox! Thanks so much for doing this one. Yeah that translation vid was tough to watch but of course your breakdown was epic and on point! If you ever need a more accurate vid etc, happy to send over patreon anytime (if it helps). I’ll follow on with some interesting wordplays RM used here …
You never fail to amaze me with your reaction and breakdown. Its the way the lyric video didn’t do justice to the actual lyric but you still get the gist of it. Thank you for existing 🙏🏼
11:32 Maybe most of you guys missed a little of the context there. To add to Knox analogy there. RM also liked pokemon (and other anime series). Remember the title it's joke. So, the other purpose of the other lines there are meant to be "inappropriate for a joke" another double meaning there... So, "Joker" is a magician. Right? It is a triple meaning that it means he can pull out a lot of tricks that nobody cannot anticipate and counter every attack haters throw at him = He's unpredictable unlike the haters that is trying to hit him with. The rest is really on point. Thanks so much Knox This is really great video. I subbed after all your on point take on the lyrics
Sir Knox. How in the Taechwita did you totally get this song and understand RM’s thoughts behind it, even with those questionable translations 😮 I AM IN AWE. I hope you may consider reacting to the proper lyrics in the future too!
also if you notice the last line of the song which goes like, "want your fuckin damn erry hands at the concert" is similar to the line from the song Monster by Kanye where he goes , " Imma need to see your fuckin hands at the concert." RM brought in that lyric from the song called Monster and that's lowkey genius👀
RM said he felt the necessity of a song that refreshed the mood and showcases what for him are the "skills" of rapping since the rest of the songs in his Mixtape have strong messages and sentiments. Stream of consciousness is exactly how RM described *Joke* but people usually misunderstand something, he said that bc the song doesn't have a transcendental meaning and was made just for the auditory pleasure, the lines are not necessarily connected through each other in terms of their meaning but still the lyrics are full of wordplay that are difficult to translate/explain in English. Like the lyrics says "This is a meaningless wordplay"
This song was released shortly after what RM told the press was a "light jab" (as in rap battle) by a rapper who publicly mocked RM and the Bulletproof Boy Scouts (BTS) in a performance in front of their music peers during the 2014 Mnet Music Awards (MAMA's). Basically the gist was that RM was an Idol who deigned to call himself a Rap Monster while performing pretty boy music. RM composed Joke as a rap response to the diss, basically saying you are a Joke, using eviscerating lyrics then finished with yeah I'm a Monster, you think you can do better then hit me. The only response was a couple years later the CEO for that rapper publicly apologized with his scion standing sheepishly next to him saying that's what rappers do. Personally I think his big 3 company set him up as an attack dog as he only attacked small company rappers. BTW the other rapper who is quite talented and RM are now on much better terms, I do not use his name as using it seems to rile up his fan base which is not my intent as like I say I think he was sent by his company and as a newbie was unlikely to engage in such behavior on his own.
It wasn't during MAMA, it was a line in his song, and RM and BTS weren't the only ones referenced. MAMA was when RM made a reference to the song during his performance. And RM never said Joke was related to that "beef".🤔
@@taen_y Let me copy and paste this article. BTS Rap Monster Speaks Up about His Diss Battle with Bobby Feb 1, 2015 by R. Jun BTS’ Rap Monster has finally spoken up regarding the idol diss battle that took place some time ago, involving iKON’s Bobby. In his interview that took place during the 4th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, Rap Monster says, “After hearing a rap about me, I simply relayed what I wanted to say. Rather than a diss, it’s more appropriate to call it feedback.” “I listen to a lot of new music, and it’s a track that a lot of famous rappers worked on, so I was well aware of it. Listening to the song, there were lines that seemed to refer to me, so I thought I should give some feedback,” he explains. Rap Monster refers to lines from the song “Come Here,” where Bobby raps “They call me a monster / It’s not a name I made / You prefer a full-length mirror over a basement dungeon, don’t you / If skills are looks, then I’m Won Bin in front of a bulletproof glass.” Regarding the MAMA performances, he says, “As long we’re not at each other’s throats and actually fighting, we gain from something like this. I don’t regret anything after the feedback I gave. I think I did what I could and handled it well.” Rap Monster explains further that if it were a diss, the words or expressions would have been more aggressive. “I received a light jab, so I returned a light jab. It may have been a problem if I got an uppercut, but it’s not the case that we have ill feelings toward each other. This much is just entertaining.” “After performing, we were coming off stage and [Bobby] was waiting to go on. Mentioning our performance, he said he enjoyed it, I said the same of his, and we high-fived.” Rap Monster adds, “But, we’re not particularly close. Haha.” P.S in all the raps RM has used to express dissatisfaction with his mistreatment by other rappers, when has he specified his targets on the track? It is for us to figure things out. You can believe whatever you want and I will express my beliefs. So be it.
Hey Knox! Yet another reaction I absolutely loved. I think you'd really love checking out the triplets: "Intro: Persona" (RM), "Interlude: Shadow" (Suga) and "Outro: Ego" (J-hope) all from their Map Of The Soul 7-album. They are all connected - well technically the whole album is connected and telling a story. These three songs are based on theories by psychiatrist and psycholanalyst Carl Jung. However, what also makes them great are how different they all are and their individualy style as a rapper really becomes even more evident. And the lyrics are amazing, of course. I think you'll love it.
I think you’d really like a rap group called Epik High - they are huge inspirations to BTS and other krappers. Their song Rosario ft Zico and CL is fire
Imagine people telling mf rap monster that he isn’t a real rapper? I know people make fun of that name…. But it’s honestly perfect IMO bc he’s a monster on this beat dude…. Like an absolute legend. If you can’t see that than that’s the biggest Joke of all ✌️ “ I told you I’m a monster… and that’s why I be rapping nonstop,” namjoon Rapping over that complex beat and playing with his flows … absolutely genius… so proud of this man!!!

You should check the MV for this song, it's a bit scary and creepy in an asylum, but it's such a perfect fit for the flow and the meaning of the song. RM it's a brilliant rapper and his lyrics have layers on layers on layers, which makes them more amazing but also more difficult to follow for foregners. I highly recommend watching videos explaining the meaning, specially if they are made by a Korean. I personally like DKDKTV, although I believe they don't have this song. Also, the web Doolset has translations and explanations of every single song by BTS including solo work.
I think the reasons for his flow in the song have something to do with the Korean language. What I mean is, when they speak, they will end on a low tone when the sentence is done, to tell that the sentence is not a question but at statement if you understand
The song is called Joke because it's RM making fun of the haters that said he got no flow or rap game by showing just that. At many parts lyrics don't even make sense and he did that intentionally. He is just showing off his flow.
there is actually a better translation of the lyrics with all explanations if you're interested in reading it. google doolsetbangtan, they're korean and have very detailed translations to every bts (+ solo) song. and thank you for your reactions !!
Yo Knox! I actually discovered bts through you believe it or not! Their rap abilities are insane. That unnie bar is hard (about 5:30 mark). Had to look it up but he is basically calling person he is referencing a woman. Unnie is the term for when a woman or girl meets an older woman or girl, they call them unnie. Like senpai in Japan.
it would be cool to see you react to RM’s latest mixtape ‘mono’ it doesn't have this aggressiveness and is way more poetic and healing. uhgood is my fav track!
You sound like Em, I mean this as a compliment. And great reaction as always. 💜 Oh and when RM was like 15, it was said that no one would do battle rap against him because he's nasty when it comes to wordplay. Man has 148 IQ, so what would his opponents expect? This was meant to joke with his haters. Joke ain't no joke 😄
Quality reaction! Even though the whole point is that the lyrics don't necessarily make much sense, they're no way near as random as those VERY inaccurate translations make it seem. The wordplay is crazy too, it would be a real shame for you not to get to appreciate this song in its fully glory. Would you consider breaking down the mv, there's a version with good subs?
I hoped you would watch the other lyric video this one had a lot of mistakes... like even simple ones; RM would literally say haters and the guy wrote hero...

This man just went all out. But even so, he still has way too much potential. He is incredibly a korean rap lyric genius.
Some wordplays involved for more context (copied from doolset bangtan)
RM says, I’ll take ‘power’ off and call you ‘dear,’ Gonorrhoea
임 (im) itself means dear (lover).
Haven't heard this song yet, another day of Knox showing me a ne artists that I didn't know of yet
he's rapper from BTS , hope u don't hate him now 😂

@@MyLungsStillBurn thnx for appreciating 💜 u won't be disappointed by his solos.

@@hobisfatbussy160 definitely haven't been so far :)
Appreciate that! Thanks for the comment and supporting the channel! Goes a long way 🙌🏼
That's why I have subscribed also. The talk about the technical aspects makes it interesting and I learn stuff
When Knox said ‘it’s like a stream of consciousness’, I was like, ‘that’s ma guy!’
Nail. On. Head!
Obviously the lyrics are not translated well at all, but this song is so forceful and he uses some really interesting wordplays. Joke is no joke 🔥 You should definitely watch the mv Knox!
Your rhyme at last 😂😂👏👏
can't believe that in a minute and a half you deduced (and got right!) the meaning of the song's name
this is the reason why i like your reactions, you pay attention to what you're hearing and you don't just react and go
i don't know a single thing about rap so i'm learning about it thanks to you, i'm now even more in love with their works knowing the effort the boys put in them
@@Anitalp97 same
RM is a fucking brilliant lyricist, reminds me of Em. He's even doing it in two languages
It's criticized for explicit lyrics. Wtf? Its one of my favorite kpop raps. These people are just sick😑
@@struggler856 there were some lyrics which could be potentially seen as disrespectful towards women etc.
@@yveltal3605 I get it. But it's a rap. Thats a genre. You can expect raps to have such things. otherwise it would be boring.(I'm talking about cuss words).
@@struggler856 no not cuss words
Cuss words won't be disrespectful like that
There was just something in there which people probably found offensive (some references in korean so we don't know how offensive that might have been or simply just not offensive. We don't know)
@@yveltal3605 I read the English lyrics. And I didn't find anything really offensive.
Towards the end RM said… (taken from muish)
Yeah i gettin on em bitch gettin on em rich
Son of beach (in Korean), you’re son of a beach
I shine like unpolished jewel, like son of a Jadeite . (Jadeite in korean is “beach”)
I’m a monster, so son of a Stitch (movie “Lilo and Stitch” reference)
The translator here put ‘seaside’ and ‘jade’ 🤦♂️😂 but you can see how the rhyme scheme should have been 🔥
And some of this is him demonstrating flows and clapping back at haters who criticized his abilities while only being able to mimic generic rapping themselves so he added some of those I think sarcastically to make a point…but still kept genius wordplay to kind of say, I am more than just lyrics I am also technique but I can do both… 💜
I love the MV. I'm glad that he watched the lyrics so he could really appreciate the wordplay, but I hope he now watches the MV
after this you HAVE to do Do You by RM if you haven't
RM killed it. THE BEAT and production is from Run The Jewels " Oh my Darling" CHECK OUT THE ORIGINAL.
Awesome! Knox, please react to RM's album mono!!
Will check it out! Thanks for the love
Fun fact: Joon was an underground rapper from the age of 13-15 and most of the underground rappers were afraid of him and his raps.
And when he left the underground scene he got criticized frome those underground rappers and joke was the answer to that.
But if you meet joon irl now he's like the most humblest person I've ever known 🤧💜
He's the best leader too. That's why he's also known as president
Joke is on repeat for me! I can’t get enough of it! The cadences, the, beat! The fact RM doesn’t breath!!! Joke is pure ass 🔥!
If you’re doing rm keep an eye on his track Seoul
I REALLYY WANT YOU TO REACT TO STRANGE BY RM AND AGUST D, but use the lyrics by zaty farhani since they are the closest to the accurate translations. I love what they are discussing about society in the song ! it's a part of Suga's second album that he uploaded for free back in 2020
I really wanna see knox reacting to agust d ‘what do you think’ cause it’s pretty underrated
Yesss check out doolset! Her translations are top notch and she explains the cultural references
Yes!!
Newbie here - Thank you so much for the translation recommendation! 💜
AHHHHH! It’s Joke time 🙌 Thank you Knox!!
You need to react to more of RM and Suga, just their individual stuff.
I LEGIT SCREAMED! OMFG I WAS WAITING FOR YOU TO REACT TO JOKE SINCE SO LONG
This whole track is answering his critics who said he wasn't a real rapper so in this single track he mocks them by doing all their styles better than them, doing flows they claim he can't do. He makes fun of how they steal other people's styles and lyrics. Also mocks how they put speed in rapping as priority but just end up making meaningless raps that don't make sense just so they can go fast
I'm not a BTS fan but i somehow landed on this song like an hour ago and i gotta say i loved it. He's good, i wonder if he has more to show ...
Do check out monster by RM
For the best translations i recommend using doolset lyrics, they also explain some of the cultural references when they translate as well. I really hope you try it out because it will make understanding what they're saying so much easier.
He’s a freaking genius I can never get over it
"Rap is a CULTURE not a COLOR". Mesus
Love your breakdowns. Love to see you react to #mesus
IKR
I told him that all KPOP bands should pay him to react to their new songs first before they release it
@@rockinroxxi3710 Well this absolutely needs to happen!
this is why I stan Knox! He gets it!
also if you notice the last line of the song which goes like, "want your fuckin damn erry hands at the concert" is similar to the line from the song Monster by Kanye where he goes , " Imma need to see your fuckin hands at the concert." RM brought in that lyric from the song called Monster and that's lowkey genius👀
The good the bad the ugly the troll 😂😂 I don’t know why that makes me chuckle every time
Haha appreciate the support! 🙌
Your reviews are always so intelligent, thank you for that!
BTW the other rapper who is quite talented and RM are now on much better terms, I do not use his name as using it seems to rile up his fan base which is not my intent as like I say I think he was sent by his company and as a newbie was unlikely to engage in such behavior on his own.
oh my god what a story. that apology, I would have loved to see it 😂
Why that apology remind me of rm's stuttering in ddaeng 😂😂😂
It wasn't during MAMA, it was a line in his song, and RM and BTS weren't the only ones referenced. MAMA was when RM made a reference to the song during his performance. And RM never said Joke was related to that "beef".🤔

BTS Rap Monster Speaks Up about His Diss Battle with Bobby
Feb 1, 2015 by R. Jun
BTS’ Rap Monster has finally spoken up regarding the idol diss battle that took place some time ago, involving iKON’s Bobby.
In his interview that took place during the 4th Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards, Rap Monster says, “After hearing a rap about me, I simply relayed what I wanted to say. Rather than a diss, it’s more appropriate to call it feedback.”
“I listen to a lot of new music, and it’s a track that a lot of famous rappers worked on, so I was well aware of it. Listening to the song, there were lines that seemed to refer to me, so I thought I should give some feedback,” he explains.
Rap Monster refers to lines from the song “Come Here,” where Bobby raps “They call me a monster / It’s not a name I made / You prefer a full-length mirror over a basement dungeon, don’t you / If skills are looks, then I’m Won Bin in front of a bulletproof glass.”
Regarding the MAMA performances, he says, “As long we’re not at each other’s throats and actually fighting, we gain from something like this. I don’t regret anything after the feedback I gave. I think I did what I could and handled it well.”
Rap Monster explains further that if it were a diss, the words or expressions would have been more aggressive. “I received a light jab, so I returned a light jab. It may have been a problem if I got an uppercut, but it’s not the case that we have ill feelings toward each other. This much is just entertaining.”
“After performing, we were coming off stage and [Bobby] was waiting to go on. Mentioning our performance, he said he enjoyed it, I said the same of his, and we high-fived.” Rap Monster adds, “But, we’re not particularly close. Haha.”
P.S in all the raps RM has used to express dissatisfaction with his mistreatment by other rappers, when has he specified his targets on the track? It is for us to figure things out. You can believe whatever you want and I will express my beliefs. So be it.
Can we also just take in the mastery of swapping between Korean and English so fluidly? The man is amazing.
The original beat is from Oh My Darling (dont cry) by Run The Jewels
glad you caught the 6 reference to the other memebers too so many people don't get it
If you can’t see that than that’s the biggest Joke of all ✌️
“ I told you I’m a monster… and that’s why I be rapping nonstop,” namjoon
Rapping over that complex beat and playing with his flows … absolutely genius… so proud of this man!!!
I really really love your reactions and how much knowledge about music you have and how you use it to understand the meaning of the songs on not just the lyrical level but also on the musical level! It's just fantastic how you get things without having all background information! ✨
Also thank you for giving all musicians and artist the respect they deserve 💜
I'm sure you're one of ARMY's favourite reactors because of the reaction quality and the respect and knowledge you show. 💜

the lyric video by af taehyung prolly has the closest accuracy when it comes to translating his lyrics. they even put the breakdown in the comment sec
He's the best rapper that I've ever know ♡
Oh and the beat uses a sample from Run The Jewels' song "Oh My Darling (Don't Cry)".
Yes I was waiting for this!! Rm really is a beast!!
By favorite part of this song is RM’s stutter rapping on purpose, like his nonsense in Joke, he can do whatever the hell he wants and it’ll be gold!
That's why I love Nam's flow and lyrics.
He's a master in rap music, he has many vocal skills. ✨❤️❤️👌🏻
Also his song Do you is really great.
CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP, DAYDREAM, AIRPLANE, BASELINE, 1 VERSE - J HOPE

THANKS KNOX 💜 I was waiting for this reaction since you started react to BTS
Yo Knox! I actually discovered bts through you believe it or not! Their rap abilities are insane. Have to say, I was at first confused that this was only around 13 min long, there's bars on bars on bars for you to dive into, so I thought you must be joking with us (get it ha). Then I saw the lyric vid and it made sense... There is an mv with added accurate subs and I implore you to consider reacting to it. I really think that the mv and proper bars truly deserve a legendary Knox Hill breakdown! Thanks for introducing me to epic new music man.
NoLifeShaq just shouted you out in his video reacting to hate comments….said you were one of the goats of song breakdowns
Knox you should check out the RM and Warren G collab P.D.D (Pease Don’t Die). Warren G was RM’s musical mentor on the American Hustle Life hiphop focussed reality show they did back in 2014.
That unnie bar is hard (about 5:30 mark). Had to look it up but he is basically calling person he is referencing a woman. Unnie is the term for when a woman or girl meets an older woman or girl, they call them unnie. Like senpai in Japan.
Yes! And the gonorrhoea line is a bit 🤯 There’s a lot of Korean slang in this too but it’s fun to read about it.
So he's calling the person a b*tch?? Lmfao
thank you for interpreting the flow, rhythm, and cadence for us lay listeners, Knox! more power to you!
your rapping is dope! RM is out of control on this one
Knox, you have to watch the MV to 'Joke'!
it would be cool to see you react to RM’s latest mixtape ‘mono’ it doesn't have this aggressiveness and is way more poetic and healing. uhgood is my fav track!
Thank you for the breakdown. I didn't notice a lot of things you mentioned, so dope.
Try "Do you" next time, another great one from RM
The original beat is from run the jewels "oh my darling don't cry" original track is crazy too
You sound like Em, I mean this as a compliment. And great reaction as always. 💜 Oh and when RM was like 15, it was said that no one would do battle rap against him because he's nasty when it comes to wordplay. Man has 148 IQ, so what would his opponents expect? This was meant to joke with his haters. Joke ain't no joke 😄
Wow, bravo for dissecting this so skillfully. Love your reactions!
Kudos..to uh ..to appreciate the underrated masterpiece.he is king he doesn't need any Grammy's or views to Proove him king 👑
