Most FUN RC car ever made! - HPI Savage X Flux V2 1/8 Monster Truck Second Run Fun Bash

  • Seriously! I've driven many, many RC cars and trucks through the years, and the HPI Racing Savage X Flux V2 is probably the most FUN rc car out of the box I've ever driven. It drives perfectly, this video is pretty much one continuous take where I only had to flip the car over once. This is only my second battery pack through the truck!
    I have other concerns about the truck, but there's no denying this thing drives AWESOME! I paid for this truck myself, so you know I'm giving my honest opinion!

    I only owned 1 Hpi, the Wr8 Ken Block Rally and it was AMAZING and incredibly fun!!! ONLY RC I could full throttle on road and do a full 360 without it flipping it. I'm pretty sure I saw fresh-squeezed RC do it as well. Anyway, I got it when it was 500 and only sold it cuz the body was like $100 to replace and parts were very hard to find! I couldn't find any Wheels and the stock wheels I couldn't buy again. This was 2019 and now it's like it sells for like 200 more. I had a friend that had the Savage xs and that was also insanely fun and brutally tough.

      Ohhh the little XS was mini monster. 65mph out the box on a tiny monster. Thing would do standing back flips at speed. I also had the wr8 flux and it was build like losi 8b with shorter arms and rally wheels. Boy was that thing aggressive. Miss the hpi rigs

    Wow that's a bold statement Razor lol. I'm looking forward to final thoughts. I wanted one so bad but 2 things have turned me off...The price, almost 800$ seems pretty high for a 1/8th scale and 2. I'm worried about long term part support as let's be honest while hpi is one of the more older companies it seems this revamp might not be cut out for the long term which also concerns me.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the price is high, I ain't gonna lie. parts support can be iffy, but the new ownership seems to be putting money into it and trying to get parts support up to date.

    Amazingly, its not too expensive in the UK £629 vs the typical £649 of an Outcast EXB. Looks fantastic fun and almost always seems to land on its wheels. One shock after such a lot of big jumps seems pretty reasonable ! Cant wait to see how it does against the even cheaper MT8.

    Hey razor, how do you like stock servo. I have nitro savage x 4.6 and stock servo was very weak, and servo saver from the factory was very loose, could barely steer it. They didn't install central drive shaft from the factory :). Throttle servo stripped on the 3rd run. Steering servo works fine in stampede, but not savage. Hopefully they improved electronics and quality control from back in the day

  • @bbeckers24
    @bbeckers24 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have always been an HPI fan and hope they make it back, but $750? At $150 more than the 6s Arrma HPI has made some very questionable decisions. Single sided shock support on plastic towers without any kind of tower brace. Plastic, non-threaded shocks. Does not come with center diff. 10kg servo. Dog bones all around.This thing should $150 less, not more.

    • @RazorRC
      @RazorRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      yeah, that's really the main problem with the truck -- the price is way too high

    • @geodude3966
      @geodude3966 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with the plastic shocks and towers and no center diff. But it doesn't need a tower brace, it has two aluminum vertical plates mounted on the chassis. I'm not an automotive engineer but I'm sure that two vertical plates provides more chassis rigidity than a tower to tower rod.

    • @bbeckers24
      @bbeckers24 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geodude3966 tower brace not needed for chasis, but for the towers. Those towers look like they will snap easily with a roll or roof landing the way they sit way above chasis with no brace. Yes, the vertical plates provide a stiffer chasis and eliminate the need for tower to tower braces, but the towers can use some support.

    Nice. I just don't like slippers or how the trucks sounds. I always feel like you are losing power with them. And this truck is pretty big for a slipper TBH. And then there's the $700+ price tag. Those two factors are a turn off for me, but it's just my opinion. Thanks for the video bud

    Looks like a lot of fun, a big 4x4 monster truck with a near locked center clutch and big chonky tires is always a recipe for mayhem. But for $765 it's way overpriced compared to the $750 Outcast EXB RTR and is leagues less durable, I think only HPI fans used to 2010 durability would pick this up.

    • @RazorRC
