Every little girl needs a father like Skylars, its a shame they didnt have more kids or maybe foster. They are the kind of parents you hope for and every kid deserves. I hope their lives are blessed with peace, warmth, love and just a veil of protection for the rest of their lives. May they live long peaceful lives and someday reunite for an eternity with their beautiful daughter.

What I was about to say, I can't imagine losing my child, but to lose my only child would kill me mentally! I mean I'm sure Skylar's parents were looking forward to the day that Skylar goes to college, to the day that she finds a boyfriend, to the day that she gets married, to the day she has kids, and for them to have their little girl's future milestones taken away from them just breaks my heart for them! I do hope they become certified foster parents! They deserve nothing but happiness for now on!

@@W_T_D My point was in response to the OP who suggests that mental illness, trauma, bad influences, etc don't mean anything. Everyone is not an island that can simply "choose good" - especially not when you are a child. It makes a difference if you have a toxic, broken home as opposed to two healthy, loving parents. This story is a prime example of that, where we see Skylar, the 4.0 gpa good girl, who was trying to steer two girls who were from absolutely toxic households, and were rebellious degenerates.

This was really a joy to watch seeing them light up talking about their baby girl and having an interview that had to do with who she was! Hearing these stories she sounded like an amazing young lady who was raised right and so open hearted to everyone. These stories are almost like meeting her in some way. It’s ridiculous that they had to protest to get Skylar’s body back after so long and knowing their daughter was now only bones would be devastating to me!
I’m glad the parents are still together after all this tragedy! They raised an amazing young lady who’s life was cut short way to soon! But from her loss she brought up a new law Skylar’s law, a law that could save other children’s lives. Rest In Peace baby girl you’ve touched so many lives in so many ways, you’re truly loved and we’re lucky to know your story!

Sofie Nilsen The parents talk about it towards the end at 34:35 but it’s so Amber alerts which are broadcasted when children are kidnapped to be on alert and look out for them can be raised early for teenagers who aren’t apparent runaways so they can be reported as missing right away instead of having to wait for 24 to 48 hours but Skylars law isn’t in all states I think it’s only in West Virginia. Although in Skylars cause it wouldn’t have mattered she was already dead. Don’t know if that was a good explanation... I found this didn’t read all of it just a small part of it

Who disliked this video? I think it was an accident.... RIP Skylar. I remember seeing this all over the News in 2012 I was only 12 years old. I didn’t know her or anyone but this case has made a huge difference in my life and how I interact w/ others it’s insane. When we were watching this all over the news it happened on my Mommy’s birthday. Then I think Rachel & Sheila went to trial on my birthday. So my mom was watching all the way through. At the time my mom was on my ass after this and thank this. She was all in my business and everything and looking back at this I can see why her as a parent was worried for me. I look back at Skylars videos and photos at least once a year because I like to remember what we lost even though I didn’t know her. I’m turning 18 now in July and i can’t believe this was that long ago. Seems like just yesterday I saw this. I don’t think you need to know someone completely to know that they made a difference. I hope the Neeses family is ok now though. I love you guys & hope you’re ok.

I can't even look at a photo of Skylar without tears in my eyes. As for those pathetic excuse of human beings taking her life "because they didn't want to be friends with her anymore" I call bullshit-normal people when they don't like a person would just not talk to them & stay away?? Rachel was a coward that wouldn't admit to anything unless she was cornered and pushed into doing so.. I think she was crying for herself not the never ending pain she caused the Neese family. And certainly not the pain she caused Skylar. As for Sheila having the nerve to look over at Dave in court with a smile on her ugly face that honestly makes my blood boil. I've seen the court footage and the victim impact statements are one of the most heartbreaking I've ever heard-Skylar's uncle in particular made me cry my eyes out and I'll never forget it. I've seen their latest mugshots--THEYRE FUCKING SMILING IN THEM! Sheila in particular which doesn't shock me at all. What does that tell us? They'll never be fit to be released back into society. Rotten to the core both of them. Of course no amount of time served will bring back Skylar and heal her families pain. Rest in peace Skylar-nobody can hurt you anymore you're safe now.

I personally don't think Shelia has any remorse for what she did she just strikes me as that kind of narrcistical psychopath. That's exactly why she said nothing in the court trial because she isn't sorry and she probably would do it again if given the opportunity to some other innocent person. As for Rachel it's really hard to say whether or not her apology was sincere or if she has any genuine remorse. I think that is something that's left up for debate remember she is an "actress" but just the fact that they're smiling in their most recent mughshots is more than likely a tell-tale sign that atleast Shelia if not Rachel as well would more than likely do this again if they were given the opportunity. I am surprised that the interviewer did not ask about the lesbian sex secret between Shelia and Rachel since that was also mentioned as a possible motive and when you consider Rachel's religious family background it kind of makes more sense rather than we killed her because we no longer liked her and no longer wanted to be friends. Again not saying that eithier reason or theory justifies them doing what they did because it doesn't but it certainly would have provided more insight into the dynamics of the friendship between Skylar, Shelia, and Rachel and just Shelia and Rachel in general. The book on this case does provide some insight on the factors that led to both girls deciding to kill Skylar but I wish it went more depth on specifically Rachel's influence between the friendship between the three of them. I know a lot of people say Shelia is really the mastermind behind the murder and is the one that got both Skylar and Rachel to engage in really edgy and promiscuous behavior and probably for the most part she was the brain behind this murder, but I think Rachel played a slightly bigger influence than people might think. I don't really buy the fact that Rachel was just this "sweet innocent Christian girl" who was just misled by Shelia, I think it's very telling how all of the problems that started between the three of them happened after Rachel came into the picture. This is obviously just a speculation because their isn't specific documented proof of this, but I think Rachel slowly started to turn Shelia against Skylar because she was probably jealous of how initally close Shelia and Skylar were. Not saying that she came up with the idea to kill Skylar I think Shelia arrived at that decision on her own but I definetely think she slowly started to turn Shelia against Skylar but I think it also goes to show that Shelia was never really Skylar's BFF if she could be persuaded and influence that easily and it also goes to show that even though from the surface Rachel acted like she was Skylars friend and this sweet innocent Christian girl that she wasn't in actuality. I hope both of those bitches never get out of prison it would be a HUGE threat and risk to society if they did, even with intense thearpy there really isn't a "sure fire guarantee" that they won't do it again to someone else. What happens if they meet someone else and they decide they don't like them anymore and kill them? It just isn't worth the risk in my opinion. Skylar didn't deserve this and neither did her parents Mary and Dave and no one else would deserve it eitheir. Just because they were both 16 at the time and just because Rachel confessed should not be a factor in giving them a lesser sentence. Yes Rachel confessed but she still committed the same crime and 16 really isn't that far away from being a legal adult. Surely they must have known that despite their fantasy about getting away with this that they weren't going to in actuality. Even if Rachel never confessed I'm sure people would have eventually put two and two together and figured out they did it. I really feel and sympathsized with Mary and Dave and my heart goes out to them. I know they think they will never fully get over this and maybe they never will and I don't think anyone should expect them to. But hopefully they can atleast take comfort in the fact that neitheir they nor Skylar did anything to deserve this and that Skylar will always be with them in someway and that one day they will be reunited with her. Also I hope they can take comfort in the fact that both of those two evil bitches are locked up and will more than likely never be able to get out and that they will never be able to do anything like this to anyone else ever again.

I was a Foster Kid, i didn't have a good Parent till i was just turning 18, i may be turning 60 soon, but i still feel the pain of no parents, mine passed, the Neese's would have been a Gift for all the hard times i had growing up, i hope that knowing how wonderful people are saying they are or how good they are as Parents, this makes them feel more of the love they still have and still show to us, no matter who we are or how old we are, it can still make one feel a sense of a love that they never had but can feel threw the words of the many that they have touched, Bless you both for keeping her Spirit alive threw your fight for her law and keeping her memory alive, take care and Thank You for showing the world that a Parents Love can and will always be what is the strongest love for a child, no matter how old they get, or weather they are here or watching from a place of peace, after all, we all were a child once, and that feeling, that love will never fad, take care, and Thank You again

To answer the question that they asked why is this murder story any different to other murder stories it's because not very many teenagers get murdered by their best friends. Most teens would get murdered by their rapist, their boyfriends/ girlfriends or maybe by their own parents. This is the rarest murder case I've ever seen.

    • @jeremysmith54565

In some ways this is a very similar thing but there are fundamental differences, if you were to look at the case by where a boy aged 3 was stoned to death on a railway line by two much younger boys Thompson and Venables his name being James Bulger it's horrendous so yeah it doesn't kind of phase me in some ways hearing about this but in other ways it's worse.
The remarkable thing was (though there is a part of our legal system here in the UK, though I lack the memory of what it's actually called and think it says it in Latin actually) by where if its as heinous as it was and they're of that mentality then they have the requirement to be tried in an adult court, they were too short to even see over the walls of the dock.
Here in this country they don't stand when giving evidence by a table at the front of the courts before a judge they stand in what's referred to as a dock, sometimes it even has a glass screen around it, but it's not always simply the case and the public sit in what's called the public gallery, the dock is usually attended around the defendant (especially when on remand) by at least one prison guard/officer standing with them and they'll take them down when it's going on when they go back on remand or when being sentenced for a custodial based sentence, to be held in the cells below a court and to then later be taken by a prison van (operated by a private company for the MoJ in every sense).
Though for almost all cases they aren't allowed to film (I believe its ever) in the courts in this country in anyway whatsoever but this is a perfect example of how a dock looks like th-cam.com/video/PFLkMvz0fMw/w-d-xo.html though of course this being a fictional tv programme, the longest running probably soap opera in the world (but don't quote me on that, certainly is in this country that's for certain!) though that being in what's called a Crown Court where all Criminal cases are tried, operated by and large by the CPS (The Crown Prosecution Service) which must be applied to either by constabulary sometimes (if they're happy to take on a case or even if they have enough evidence for one to be tried in one) or sometimes by a Magistrates courts (it works either way as a Magistrates certainly can't be used to try people in one since they don't have that authority.
The reality with the likes of Venable and Thompson being tried in an adult court (though sent to a maximum security home for people of that kind and age) they couldn't even see over the walls of the dock, so they'd put blocks under their feet so they could, as they were pre-teen age at the time.

What a gift to not only have such a beautiful looking daughter like Skylar, but such a caring & compassionate young lady she was! I believe wholeheartedly that those two killer's were 100% jelous, because they were weak & preyed on other kids to try & make themselves look better! Also, Skylar had wonderful parents, you can hear her giggles in Mary & her sense of humour in David & the compassion in both of her parents! How do you think two grieving parents would feel after having their child murdered and taken from them? Don't recount or discuss the emotions the parents had experienced during this savage and relentless crime committed on their daughter. Talk about the good memories and the goodness their daughter had brought to them over the time they got to share with Skylar.

I makes me so sad to think that the world lost a kind hearted, compassionate intelligent and beautiful girl.. Leaves us asking why? But all we get as an answer is "We just didn't like her anymore".. Unacceptable!!!!
This was so unnecessary and unforgivable.
If the justice system fails and those two monsters manage to make it out on parole... True life justice will hunt them. There will always be people that they will be around that will just be as disgusted as we all are just seeing them anywhere. Their friends will always be scared in the back of their mind thinking will this woman literally stab me in the back? when they get around to get married their husband will wonder the same.
Maybe it's best not to let them out.. their lives will always have that shadow following them for the rest of their lives. Life's justice always preval's.
My prayers go out to the Neese family. I do pray for them. May Skyler rest in God's everlasting loving arm's. We will not forget her. 🙏🙏🙏💜💜

I think about Dave and Mary often, usually a few times a week. They loved (and still do) Skylar so much and it's the most painful thing to think that their little girl is gone. If I could bring back someone from the dead for even a day it would be Skylar so she could hug her parents one last time. Skylar reminds me of myself. I was 17 when she died, also an only child, with an amazing relationship with my parents. I think I would have been great friends with Skylar. I miss her too, guys. I have been watching every video I can find of this case and I had to stop and watch this one because of the thumb nail. It showed smiles on the faces of Skylar's parents. For some reason I just had to see them smiling. Why? I don't really know because I've never met them a day in my life but the last video I watched regarding this case was of Sheila Eddy's sentencing and Skylar's father could barely get through his victim impact statement because of the grief. So to now see a video in which he and his wife talked about how wonderful their daughter was makes me feel so much better. I know they'll never be the same but at least when talking about how much of a great person Skylar was they can still find a reason to smile and that makes me smile too. God bless them.
