Not only did she confess to the crime which allowsfor that type of deal to be made, which tho unfair is how they get criminals to confess so they can actually know what happened and there can be some form of justice, but also she showed remorse. The other girl didn't. They look at that kind of thing, if you show remorse then that means you could be reformed, no remorse? You're unsafe for society and can never be let back in.
