Im going to try really hard because this habit made me do not so well in my final year so i need a better mentality to achieve a 4.0 in my first year of uni!
💀 my first day my teachers gave us the syllabus. we went over it for 10-15 mins and then they said “open your textbooks to page 20” and began to lecture.
Huge tip: Pls dont try to do too much your first year(Play a sport, take 6 classes, join 3 clubs, party every week etc) you will get tired, you will slack on everything and you will want to drop out. Alot of students get caught up in the ‘rush’ of the first year of college and end up so burned out by the end that they drop out, as an advisor its sad to see so please keep your activities to a minimum!! Join a club if you want, play a sport if you like it, but please dont try and do it all.

The part about general cafeterias having the best food when the parents are still around is def true for my school. we'd all get so excited when there were tours or parents weekend cuz they stepped up the game
I also found during my first week of college that classes held on the ideal days and at the ideal times are booked out very quick. During my first semester, I was left with a schedule that had a 6 hour gap between classes on one day and I had thought that this was the worst thing. But this time gap because extremely useful to work on assignments, to study and do required readings before classes. So it was a blessing in disguise! My advice is that whatever schedule that you end up with for the semester (ideal or not), make the most of it!

For example if there's a large group of guys, I'll turn in the opposite direction, even if it makes my trip longer. Anddddd yea. Does everyone do this as well?
Nahylia I know exactly what you mean, i used to have it bad. Honestly, everyone has anxiety for most things such as presenting, but you know it is an issue if the level of anxiety is very high. I got help with it by seeing a therapist. If you wanna go to a school counselor? feel free but i don’t think they ever have an interest in truly and personally helping.
As a college student, do not stay at college apartments!!! You will never get peace and quiet! I was so stressed my first semester because everybody partied constantly and smoked pot. I also only made 2 friends in college; 1 dropped out, my other friend got a boyfriend and she doesn’t talk to me anymore.... we also had the same major. Yay college.

As an Ivy engineering student, parties are "non-existant" and 7 hours study time equates to the feeling of just an hour of time-span. Time is every value, and I love the fact that engineers always get the royal dorms especially at my University. Go Blue Hens!!
I’m starting my freshman year at a very prestigious art school that’s like an art version of an Ivy (in terms of prestige not necessarily acceptance rate) in about 3 weeks. So if everything I heard about the school is true, it’s pretty much the same as yours. Sure there are parties, like they exist, but compared to other schools, they are lot less of them and are more mild compared to other schools. Even if you did want to attend one, it’s not like you’d find the time with how busy the school keeps you and frats and sororities straight up don’t exist at my school. Plus the majority of people attending the school aren’t there to party, matter of fact, my school is a very “not like other girls” school, so most people there aren’t there to get the famous “college experience”, but rather a degree. All that to say I relate, lol.
Blue Lists it was actually really good. After you get past the initial shock of living by yourself in a dorm with a roommate, you get to explore the campus, meet new people, btw the guy in this video is right talk to everyone and you’ll eventually find your people. School-wise, the first week is easy, but for the rest of the semester stay on top of your work. Try new things at least for the first week. I struck up a conversation with a guy on my floor, we went to the other freshman housing areas and he got another 15 people to walk around with us and next thing I knew I was in a random freshman dorm with 20 people crammed in it and I had a blast. Long story short, be responsible, have common sense, and just enjoy yourself!

I’m saying this from experience, put yourself outside of your comfort zone and just start conversations. Unfortunately, people don’t usually just come up and start talking with you. Just put yourself out there, and you’ll be fine.

College is easy as long as you put effort into your classes. I talked to more people in college than high school and middle school combined. Where i go to College is the teachers gave us a week or two to get the books or just gives us copies. I never attend to make friends. Making friends are a least of a worry. I handed this girls essay in and told the teacher that she had an appointment. Teacher didnt mind me doing this. I helped a bunch of kids get ready for the Math exam since i finished the class before everyone else. I had better grades on my essays in college english than in High school. I learned more about each subject than in high school. I was in a reading class and passed it with an A. With that i didnt need a college reading class.
Bruh I swear the workers at our dinning hall don't even be trying to feed us during the school year🤦🏾♀️ I tried to explain that to my dad and he thought I was being dramatic because of the elaborate buffet they put out for parents at open house. Freaking scammers smh
If you are concerned about where your classes are- college buildings are usually open like 8am-6pm on weekdays, so go the day before classes or something and find your rooms! If that isn’t possible, leave like 20 mins early to find the class. Once you’ve found it, either sit in there and play on your phone or sit in the lobby/study area that most campus buildings have. No one will think you’re weird- fake it like you’re a senior and know what you’re doing lol

I’m a junior yr transfer student, about 2 months into classes now, my only friend is my roommate, and I’ve nvr heard anyone discuss anything about a party ever. My daily routine consists of classes in the morning, gym afterward. That’s it. I go out to get food at the dining halls during meal times but otherwise I have no reason to leave my room
Recipe for Spicy Ricecakes. (Microwave edition that I made up 2h ago but worked when I tried it) Buy Korean spicy ricecakes from somewhere like Hmart or something. (And Chili paste while your there.) Also having hot water soy sauce and cane sugar lying around is convenient but if not BUY SOME Put ricecakes in bowl Separate them with your fingers In same bowl: Put in one spoonful of chili paste Add an amount of soy sauce that’s like the equivelent of those takeout sauce packets and put it on top Add a pinch of the sugar Put in a little bit of boiling water Stir until it’s all one consistency and covers all the rice cakes If you want it to be soupy this is the time to add in the water. If you don’t want to use a microwave put in boiling water until the ricecakes are covered and cover with something like Reynolds wrap and let it sit for like 5m idk until they are soft If you DO want to use a microwave put in room temperature water and cover it with Reynolds wrap or something. Microwave for 2m. Take off wrap and eat it.

So now that I have my own car and I can finally drive this year, I've decided to take college classes in person on campus. I'm so scared! I know it won't be nothing like taking college classes online. I have to deal with my anxiety of being around adults all the time, every week of school. I'm 17 and I know I'm going to be an adult real soon, but I look like a little child. I act like a child. PLUS, in high school, we are used to seeing adults as the authority figures in school: giving us detentions, warnings, calling our parents, telling us what to do, etc... In college, EVERYONE LOOKS LIKE FULL BLOWN ADULTS. I remember walking on campus to see what the college was like, and I saw a couple of ADULTS around the corner, in a group, staring everyone down, smiling, laughing, talking... they all wore Student ID cards around their necks. I WAS LITERALLY PANICKING, THINKING THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG. I was so worried that one of those women or men could have yelled at me or told me what I shouldn't do while I was walking. But I realized that they were normal adult students. I'm just so used to adults being the stern ones. Anyways, thanks for the tips. Although I'm not a freshman, I still needed them because it ill be my first time on a college campus!!!!

I’m a transfer student starting at my new (dream!) college in late August. I’m so nervous about being able to make friends as a transfer, though I’m not as worried as the school part as I already have a year under my belt.

I’m a junior yr transfer student, about 2 months into classes now, my only friend is my roommate, and I’ve nvr heard anyone discuss anything about a party ever. My daily routine consists of classes in the morning, gym afterward. That’s it. I go out to get food at the dining halls during meal times but otherwise I have no reason to leave my room
My first week friends were lit I wish we could go back to the excitement of being in college for the first time again

Recipe for Spicy Ricecakes. (Microwave edition that I made up 2h ago but worked when I tried it)
Buy Korean spicy ricecakes from somewhere like Hmart or something.
(And Chili paste while your there.)
Also having hot water soy sauce and cane sugar lying around is convenient but if not BUY SOME
Put ricecakes in bowl
Separate them with your fingers
In same bowl:
Put in one spoonful of chili paste
Add an amount of soy sauce that’s like the equivelent of those takeout sauce packets and put it on top
Add a pinch of the sugar
Put in a little bit of boiling water
Stir until it’s all one consistency and covers all the rice cakes
If you want it to be soupy this is the time to add in the water. If you don’t want to use a microwave put in boiling water until the ricecakes are covered and cover with something like Reynolds wrap and let it sit for like 5m idk until they are soft
If you DO want to use a microwave put in room temperature water and cover it with Reynolds wrap or something. Microwave for 2m.
Take off wrap and eat it.

I'm watching this about to be a junior in college because I never realized how important the first week is for people lol...I had a super uneventful first week and first year but then again my school is a commuter University so it's harder to have that real college life🤷
I'm dual enrolled at my high school, and I've already completed my first year of college online. I'm a senior at my high school and a sophomore at my college (weird, but that's how dual enrollment works). So now that I have my own car and I can finally drive this year, I've decided to take college classes in person on campus. I'm so scared! I know it won't be nothing like taking college classes online. I have to deal with my anxiety of being around adults all the time, every week of school. I'm 17 and I know I'm going to be an adult real soon, but I look like a little child. I act like a child. PLUS, in high school, we are used to seeing adults as the authority figures in school: giving us detentions, warnings, calling our parents, telling us what to do, etc... In college, EVERYONE LOOKS LIKE FULL BLOWN ADULTS. I remember walking on campus to see what the college was like, and I saw a couple of ADULTS around the corner, in a group, staring everyone down, smiling, laughing, talking... they all wore Student ID cards around their necks. I WAS LITERALLY PANICKING, THINKING THAT I DID SOMETHING WRONG. I was so worried that one of those women or men could have yelled at me or told me what I shouldn't do while I was walking. But I realized that they were normal adult students. I'm just so used to adults being the stern ones.
Anyways, thanks for the tips. Although I'm not a freshman, I still needed them because it ill be my first time on a college campus!!!!
