So you keep putting time/money in until you gamble away your life savings, or that Nigerian prince takes all your money, or something equally unfortunate happens. Only Paris and Odysseus favored the bow over spear and sword out of all classical heroes.
@@joelsasmad Greek gods are not heroes, they are mostly A-holes. Artemis is a hunter, not a warrior, and Apollo is a charioteer, so he favors a bow. Keep in mind that the classical heroes valued strength over any other trait, including morality, and their tendency for melee weapons makes more sense.

Never underestimate archery builds. The advantages to dealing good damage while keeping space between you and your enemies are staggering. Bonus joke: Why did the troll stay up until sunrise today? He wanted to get stoned.
Archery, or just long range attacking, is very effective, but generally boring. There is very little decision making in it, besides which target to deal sharpshooter damage to.
I always make an agreement with my players, If you buy a new quiver of arrows every time, you enter a town to restock, I won't track how many arrows you have.
Honestly the only arrows that should be tracked an the nonregular arrows. I don't care how many regular arrows you have it's the ones that aren't that matter.

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but have you thought about doing a build for Talion from the "Middle Earth: Shadow" games? Also, I'm really glad you didn't give Legoboy a bajillion ranger levels. Legolad has never felt super "rangery" imo, he has too much of a focus on "am good archer" to be a professional nature boy. He is the Legoman, fighter of the Brickman (Sauron), Champion of the... well he has that subclass I guess. But yeah, fighter/ranger is always really cool, especially once you tack on a bit of that rogue sneak attack spice!

I know a lot of people will disagree with me, but you dont think Legolas fits way mora with a kensei monk? He is never uses armor and is never seen tanking any attack, he always doges (unarmored defense, deflect missiles and evasion). When not using a bow he is using dual daggers (considered monk weapons for martial arts). He is nimble and agile (unarmored movement, use “KI” to dodge, disengage and dash with bonus action and has slow fall for his elven superhuman agility). Kensei path makes longbows monk weapons, he has kensei shot, deft strike and sharpen the blade making his bow deadlier, extra attack and ki-fueled attack for his quick draw skills. His accuracy is almost perfect so focused aim and unerring accuracy. His arrows can hit even the nazgul (magic kensei weapons). He dont get charmed by the ring (stillness of mind). Elves in LoTR dont get deceases and only affected by strong poisons (purity of body), they dont age as well (timeless body). The only feat monks have that dont fits in Legolas is empty body, but this is a level 18 ability! You can forfeit this last 3 monk levels for some other thing, like 3 fighter leves at the start, so you can start the campaign with long bow proficiency, gain archery fighting style, action surge for even more quick draw shots amd champion for improved critical! And you dont have to crossclass to fill roles that other party members already have (Aragorn is already the ranger and the hobbits are rogues, you only get in the way of the Boromir, but he is a full fighter, you just deep 3 at the start). Still a good video, but I think it fits more the character of Faramir them Legolas.

Technicaly Legolas is a High Elf. He's a Sindar elf who are kin to/are descended of the Teleri elves (called Falmari in Valinor/The Undying Lands). The Nandor are Wood Elves (Silvan/Tawarwaith & Green-elves/Laiquendi) and the Sindar rule over them as they are wiser and more composed than their Nandor cousins. But Legolas was born & did grow up (as far as we can speculate) in Greenwood the Great/Mirkwood and can pass for a Nandor. Minus the silver blondish hair and blue eyes. TL;DR: Even tho not a Wood elf but a High Elf, Wood Elf stats work better.
As someone whose first real character was a ranger, Scout Rogue > base Ranger. Swarmkeeper and Drake Warden are pretty unique, but there's not a lot that other Ranger subclasses get that you can't get by multiclassing
Same here, though my DM didn't warn me about the Beast Master *and* insisted I RP getting said beast without providing any indication whatsoever of when or how to do that. Got to level 7 without being able to even use the subclass features. It's honestly a mystery that I still play.

If it's available, I would recommend replacing one of the +2 Wisdom Ability Score Improvements with Elven Accuracy from Xanathar's Guide. It gives you +1 Wisdom, but when you have advantage on your Dexterity based attacks (it applies to other, but Dexterity is the important one for this build) you can reroll one of the dice. If you use your Steady Aim ability it essentially gives you 3 chances to critical the attack.
So, I actually use the UA for the rangers favored enemy which basically lets you cast hunters mark without using a spell slot a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier, and casting hunters mark this way doesn't require concentration meaning which gives you other options. I also homebrew the ranger to get a third attack at level 11 because they need all the help they can get.
Swap Wood Elf for Drow and you pretty much have Drizzt. Just lean more into two weapon fighting than archery (he's still a great shot when he actually uses a bow).
You gotta Legolay off the elves... but that'd mean leaving V-Humans aside. Uncle Iroh build please, because an old man with a fire breath attack sounds dope.
solid build, i may have dropped the ranger levels to get up to fighter 16 for the crit range, the extra indomitable and the extra ASI for elven accuracy, letting leggy throw out 3d20 with a 15% crit chance on each die once a round to really take advantage of going in for champion. thats a pretty fair trade off for canny, hunters mark, and slayers prey imo
Know what we need? Some more Final Fantasy builds. We had Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Yuna, Rikku...and I think that's it (that's all I can remember off the top of my head). I know there's push for Barrett and Terra (and no I'm not the only one who's requested Terra I checked), seen some for Cecil and Kain, Bartz would be a hoot to make because of all the multiclassing, Vivi is always best boy and *may* qualify as a warforged but that's your call... Basically, more FF please!
Only thing I'd change is giving him the dual wielder feat. It's +1 AC when wielding one weapon in each hand and allows you to swap to those two weapons as a free action. It also removes the "light" requirement for dual wielding but that's not too relevant unless you're playing some last ronin shit where he has Elendil to avenge Aragorn.
Maybe people from the patreon could make fan art and then he could use it and credit them, in order to advertise his patreon AND make Percy Jackson at the same time, it’s a win-win
My Percy build is a Triton Eldritch Knight 4 (mostly for Weapon Bond)/Open Sea Paladin 16 (Matt Mercer homebrew). Sea Sorcerer could work, but that's from an old UA. The new Fathomless Warlock could be a solid choice as well.

If it's available, I would recommend replacing one of the +2 Wisdom Ability Score Improvements with Elven Accuracy from Xanathar's Guide. It gives you +1 Wisdom, but when you have advantage on your Dexterity based attacks (it applies to other, but Dexterity is the important one for this build) you can reroll one of the dice. If you use your Steady Aim ability it essentially gives you 3 chances to critical the attack.

Rogue scout was my favorite character ive ever made in 5e, 10/10 do recommend that multiclass.
So, I actually use the UA for the rangers favored enemy which basically lets you cast hunters mark without using a spell slot a number of times equal to your wisdom modifier, and casting hunters mark this way doesn't require concentration meaning which gives you other options. I also homebrew the ranger to get a third attack at level 11 because they need all the help they can get.

Swap Wood Elf for Drow and you pretty much have Drizzt. Just lean more into two weapon fighting than archery (he's still a great shot when he actually uses a bow).
You gotta Legolay off the elves... but that'd mean leaving V-Humans aside. Uncle Iroh build please, because an old man with a fire breath attack sounds dope.

solid build, i may have dropped the ranger levels to get up to fighter 16 for the crit range, the extra indomitable and the extra ASI for elven accuracy, letting leggy throw out 3d20 with a 15% crit chance on each die once a round to really take advantage of going in for champion. thats a pretty fair trade off for canny, hunters mark, and slayers prey imo

Know what we need? Some more Final Fantasy builds. We had Cloud, Sephiroth, Tifa, Yuna, Rikku...and I think that's it (that's all I can remember off the top of my head). I know there's push for Barrett and Terra (and no I'm not the only one who's requested Terra I checked), seen some for Cecil and Kain, Bartz would be a hoot to make because of all the multiclassing, Vivi is always best boy and *may* qualify as a warforged but that's your call...

Only thing I'd change is giving him the dual wielder feat. It's +1 AC when wielding one weapon in each hand and allows you to swap to those two weapons as a free action. It also removes the "light" requirement for dual wielding but that's not too relevant unless you're playing some last ronin shit where he has Elendil to avenge Aragorn.

My Percy build is a Triton Eldritch Knight 4 (mostly for Weapon Bond)/Open Sea Paladin 16 (Matt Mercer homebrew).
Sea Sorcerer could work, but that's from an old UA. The new Fathomless Warlock could be a solid choice as well.
