  • On the top 3 levels of London's 20 Fenchurch Street Building, constructed in the year 2014, and now known by its nickname "The Walkie Talkie Building" is a location most tourists and even many locals have ever heard of ...The London Sky Garden.
Created as a public green space 160m in the sky, The Sky Garden is open to the public free of charge, via an online advance booking service. The futuristic glass atrium is also home to two excellent fine dining restaurants The Darwin Brasserie and The Fenchurch Restaurant.
As I was in London's financial district for another weekend, I decided to treat my friend to one of my favorite London restaurants Darwins for Brunch, as a London City worker even she had never eaten here before.
For tourists the Sky Garden is vastly superior than the rip off London Eye, it is free and you can stay as look as you like, also the views are much better both day and night.
The restaurants are ideal for business lunches, or brunch/evening dining for couples. A bonus of the restaurants, is that with a reservation you do not need to queue up with the public, you get immediate access to the Sky Garden
At night the Sky Garden provides some of the best views of the London Cityscape.

I can't recommend this enough. A free attraction with fantastic views. If you cant get tickets, go at 10am for a walk in. I've done it myself and funnily enough walked in past ticket holders, so much for 'be prepared'. You can eat there as long as you are willing to sell a body part.

I left London forty years ago for the US and most of those tall buildings weren’t even constructed. I’m visiting the city in a couple of weeks and I have a breakfast reservation at Darwin’s. The wife doesn’t know, so it’ll be a nice surprise.

Nice video, Andy. When my sister and I were in London in Oct 2019 (before everything went kerflooey, COVID-wise), we had a great dinner with a spectacular view at Darwin Brasserie-so this time, when my husband and I will be back to London toward the end of April), I made sure to book a table. We tried to time things for a sunset view, but I’m sure it’ll be lovely no matter what. Thanks for pointing out the no-heating-no-A/C thing, though it should be fine when we go. I’d certainly think twice about going in the summer, if London gets another of those crazy heatwaves again!

    loveeeeeeee your video!!
I would like to go for breakfast time.
Can you recommend a time to go that doesn't have so many people?
Do you know if I can use a mini tripod for my cell phone in the restaurant?
    Thanks :)

I don't think the stairs are open to the public although I've climbed them during a charity event and it was quite a workout!

As a 75 year old Londoner born and bred from generations of the same, I view the journey into the centre as a torture, more so in recent years and frankly any thoughts of visiting this overpriced and touristy garbage or others like them. Yuk! Years of working all across the City and West End as well as just about every borough in my working life has been dosage enough.
