This is excellent! I was curious about KDE, not having used it since 2000. I've been running various physical and virtual machines with DEs Mate, Unity, and Cinnamon for years. This video not only convinced me to give KDE a try again, but I've switched to EndeavourOS from Manjaro. On my laptop, Endeavour runs much better. I haven't really liked KDE since 1.1.2. (?) Now I'm falling in love with it all over again. This video shows how to present a cohesive appearance and I love that you're using zsh. I hope you'll release more videos in the future as I notice you haven't done many lately. I hope you'll continue with the channel because your presentations are absolutely top notch.
As to why I watch your channel. You are a teacher and fairly new to Linux so you are going at a good pace and explaining in plain English what you are doing. Keep it up!
16:05 I notice when you go to full screen the latte dock hides. But I want the dock to be always visible. Is there any option to always show latte dock even in full screen ??
Yes, I'm not currently running KDE so I don't have the exact steps, but there's a setting in the latte dock menu that should say "always visible" or something similar.
Comment 2: Sorry for intruding, in case you missed it, your top latte panel is already configured to be able to drag your last active window from it. So if you drag n drop from top latte panel you should be able to move your last active window around.
Also, your other comment was auto-removed by Google for some reason, but for those that missed it, there's a setting under the "Effects" tab called "Corner Margin" that allows you to offset the distance from the end of the docks to the launchers/applets. Very, very helpful! Thanks for the tip!
Hello! I absolutely love the video! Thank you so much for the tutorial. Only thing is when I maximize a window, instead of the top bar connecting to the application, it covers the top part. Is there a way to connect both part? (I dont want my top bar to disappear or my app to cover it when maximized)
It's been so long since I've used KDE but I remember this being an issue with Wayland. Try running an x11 session and see if that fixes it. Hopefully KDE 6 will have better Wayland support.
Hey! Nice video, i've found it very useful. I've followed your customization, but i've used arch as base, not endeavour. There is just one thing, that i cannot replicate, and this thing is your konsole color scheme, for example when you use "yay sddm", i see all, but just in white. Do you know how can i have the colors that you have?
Or you might be talking about OhMyZsh with "auto suggestions" and "syntax highlighting" I have a video about how to customize your terminal. It was done in GNOME but all the steps are the same for KDE.
This video isn't about making a macOS clone. There are a handful of tried-and-true desktop paradigms: a solo top bar ala most window managers, a solo bottom bar like windows, and top bar/left bar like unity, a top/bottom bar like GNOME 2.x, and a top bar + app dock like macOS. No one really owns those layouts, and their use case really depends on the user's workflow. Saying "using a top bar and app dock is copying macOS" is like saying "putting strings on a board is copying Antonio Stradivari." Yes, it's superficially similar, but ignores all the structural components that make it different. Phones also use the top bar and app dock layout, but I don't think anyone would claim they're trying to emulate macOS. But as with anything else, use what makes you most productive. KDE is great because you can tailor it to whatever paradigm you like. I prefer using a top bar and app dock. All that being said, if you'd like to see different content or tutorials, let me know, I'd be happy to oblige!
I'm having an error when downloading themes, how can I solve this, it's saying that it's not possible to download the colorschemes dependency, could you help me?
Very good video for configurate Kde Plazma. Very information video. For this video i can configurate Kde Plazma, Latte Dock. Thanks Ambro's. Why i don't say about themes? I and all my friends have window says "Open Collaboration Service(0)" and i and my friend can't install themes
The thing about kde is... not everything in kde after customized is customized as good as everything else. For instance, the setting design after customized is not as good as file manager, or pop up after you hit windows button. With gnome/cinnamon everything is as good as file manager. So I'm looking the reason and how to make the setting design as good as everything else
I would love to be able to use KDE but the rounded corner blur bug annoys me so much that i cant live with KDE (and I dislike the default themes of it) I hope at some point the devs will get to the point to fix it, otherwise my OCD prevents me from using KDE :(
@@Totallynotmwa MacOS has a good layout. I usually prefer just a single top bar nowadays. Been running Hyprland with waybar. But a top bar with an app dock is a very functional layout for a lot of everyday workflows

Love the tutorial. Wonder if you can add a transcript in the notes so I don’t have to keep starting/pausing the video. Thanks for doing this.

Sure!
You'll have to edit the pacman configuration file:
$ sudo vim /etc/pacman.conf
Then uncomment (delete the "#") in front of 'Color'

Could you please do a indept tutorial on how to use Kde, I recently moved from gnome to kde but feel overwhelmed with the options available.

Why is it so glitchy?
What could have caused all the artifacting?
I'm guessing it was a compatibility issue with droid cam, this was the first time I used my phone as an input through OBS studio.

people love simple and clean and colourful
because mac has the best layout and nowdays people like simple and efficient stuff instead of clogy, i guess that is why

You're missing a dependency on one of your packages. It should specify which on the error output.

it's not just the flicking but the video is washed out, not looking crisp. you need to tune your OBS a little bit more ;-)
