Inspirational, and amazing. I can see why your “Learn How To Crash Properly” video is very important too! You make it look so easy, except any one of those wipeouts could put you in hospital if you didn’t know when and how to bail.

Wow, trials super hero... Very cool video. I like seeing both perspectives (Rider and spectator). The bloopers are a nice touch too. The commentary help us understand what you're doing and feeling. Yes continue this series.... Again thank you for your efforts.

You are soo skilled. I had to stop watching halfway through my brain circuit breaker blew like 50 times. Thats a ton of practice for years. I would have broken bones by minute 2 if I tried that.

QUALITY! I'd gladly watch this all day. The spectator angle really puts it in perspective. From always going through my own footage I've gotten pretty used judging the size of things compared to how it looks with superview.... but DAMN! They be some serious rocks, and you, sir, have some serious SKILLZ! Also, I'm content with you just riding whatever you feel like riding. You'll be enjoying yourself more out there if you do whatever comes natural on the day
Thanks! Great to hear. It is always hard to show the size of things on video so its nice to hear you can relate! It is fun to be able to mix it up on so many different bikes, so stay tuned for some variety.

Fantastic stuff Pat. Always a treat to watch. Special thanks for including the full progression (the falls you go though as you figure out the hardest stuff). This is the best part to share with the kids. Even the champ's have to try and try and try again to conquer - great lesson in persistence & grit which you exemplify. Wish we could see you mixing it up with the other masters on the world stage where you belong.
Thanks Jake, I figured it would help show what practice is really like, not just the clean rides! It’s not easy, but it’s worth it when you figure something out and progress.

That seems to be the best way to show that it is not easy! When it goes right, it can look that way but it is almost never the case.
9:20 that's why you are able to do what you do, you keep at it and you show us how with both views a must from the bike perspective, nice gear references. 5:37 what gear would you use for that? A tip tell us what you wear the glove type the tool you used etc, with a purchase here, and what tyre pressure. A GREAT video .🥂🍾👏🏻👏🏻🎯 and on doing more yes, doing both hits and sections will cover most rider's.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
5:37 that was probably 2nd gear. 1st might work too but 2nd gives better distance. 1st would be a little easier getting off the rock since it is so tight up there. I usually run about 5 in the rear and 7-8 up front. Sometimes more/less depending on conditions. I have been running the RYP gloves for a very long time and really like them.

Cool video. I liked watching this video and hearing your thoughts as you rode. I would be interested in more like this. What would also be great is if in these videos you could offer some tips and advice to those of us that ride Intermediate and Advanced sections. Excellent riding as usual, and thanks for the work you put into these. BTW, Smagical Rock this year was a fun event even if Noel was trying to kill us. LOL!!
Thanks! It was a different style for me and definitely a challenge. But there will be more to come. I just shot one for the RYP TV channel and the Q and A video that was just posted has a similar style with some tips mixed in. Haha yep my dad gets a little aggressive with sections sometimes but its just to make the riders better!

Thanks! Glad it was well received. I really thought it was going to be quick and easy to edit but I was wrong, haha. Lots of footage and takes a bit to get everything lined up on different cameras, but hopefully I can streamline that in future videos.

Watching you ride Boreal was awesome. I have a few good pictures from section 3. After you went up the big rock and down. You hoped off onto a smaller rock wheel up, landed on the first big granite rock at the section end. So cool! Jump the gap, stop, turn hard left and out. Man that was so rad! I bought one of Sam's bikes. 17' factory. I love it! Fun riding my 250xc back to back with a trials bike. Do you ride full size trail/mx bikes?
Nice! Such cool terrain out there, would love to practice more there and find some fun lines. That’s cool, enjoy that bike! It’s a good one. I don’t ride moto bikes at the moment, just pitbikes for now. I’ve done some in the past but just trying to focus on trials for now.

What types of sections is Hannah riding these days ? Please do some more vids of her, but not with a follow cam. I'm trying to figure out what class I'll be riding when I start. I'm thinking intermediate. I have 20 years experience in MX and Hare Scrambles. What class do you think I should start in ? BTW I just imported a 1986 Honda TLR250 from the UK. I'm almost done with a complete teardown and reassembly. I'm going nuts wanting to ride.
Hey Pat, for the whole section between 6 min and 10 min, would you consider those ride ups or splats? Or does that even matter?
Honest question. How dinged up to you get riding trials?
Awesome. How do you change gears on that? Is it like a regular motorcycle.
Yes. Shifter is quite a bit further forward since the pegs are far back. Trials bikes don't shift as smooth as a regular mx/trial bike.
Yep, normal 5 speed transmission. 1st-3rd are slower and more torque for sections, 4th-5th for more speed on the trail.
you have an endless supply of obstacles there. must be a lot of tractor work or do trucks just dump them?
Pretty awesome playground! My dad placed them all with a backhoe long ago, and now I move the smaller ones around regularly with a skid steer.
Went the video is around 6:09, you land the back tire on the vertical face of the cement box. What are you doing with the clutch, gas, or body to get yourself over the last bit of the box?
Backing off the throttle, slipping the clutch, and keeping weight back on the bike to keep the wheel from spinning too much and controlling speed before braking to land on top. Or thats the goal anyway, haha.
Do you find yourself progressing still?
You ride at such a high level that it would seem to be more about maintaining then learning further skills.
Is there any technical aspects that you want to get better at?
I do it’s just smaller and harder to notice than years ago. It takes a lot of time and effort to improve and often feels like it’s not happening. But when it pays off it’s worth it. I’d like to think my skills are evening out a bit but I always feel the need to improve my hills and mud riding. And everything else. That’s the plan/goal anyway.

do you have a autoclutch/slipperclutch ??? i see you do not pull the clutch in.. when in gear... and the bike dont stall..
No, I am constantly pulling in the clutch but only slightly. It does not have to come all the way in to my fingers to disengage since I adjust it pretty far out.
What oil ratio do you run for it not to smoke
It should smoke some, but I run 1.6oz to the gallon on Maxima K2.

I don't know why but that first section made me kind of sea sick.
That washout to the left side of the rock after the big launch looks like it hurt bad at 11:30 Please don't do that for me... my entertainment is not that important! :-) Damn, I don't know how some people can be wired like you to keep trying, but you did until you got it on video 2 minutes later! Good job!
Maybe you can create some kind of choreographed routine where you go around and hit things... use teeter-tooters, gates, screws (hmm some agricultural/farm equipment) like those contraptions with balls dropping, rolling and actuating other things based on mechanisms and timing. You could get some ideas from Danny MacAskill's Imaginate (th-cam.com/video/Sv3xVOs7_No/w-d-xo.html ) I have a play list of his good stuff (th-cam.com/play/PLZEb8ngMuMU16mxLnkN2fwUqo-HctPz0R.html )... maybe you can get some ideas from his work. Could you use an old factory or farm? I believe you're in Wisconsin or somewhere in mid-west?... or use a snow bike to do trials work on? I'm just getting creative here thinking you could show case your skills in some special way to entertain others with your skill, but in an uncommon setting to add flair.
Don’t worry, crashes like that happen all the time on and off camera. Thanks for the ideas! Would definitely be cool, although not easy or always possible to get permission. Maybe some day! Danny has been inspiring my riding for a long time, he is amazing!
