Highlights of the Men's Team Pursuit First Round during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Cycling is among the rare sports that have always featured on the Olympic programme. Road cycling, however, was not on the programme of the Paris 1900, St Louis 1904 or London 1908 Games, while track cycling wasn't in the programme of the Stockholm 1912 Games.
The first road event in Olympic history took place in 1896 on the marathon route at the first Games of the modern era in Athens. The race started in Athens, headed towards Marathon, then returned to Athens, at the Phaliron velodrome.
Olympic cycling was added to the women's programme in Los Angeles in 1984, with an individual road event.

why is one guy held up by a metal frame at the start and the other 3 just by person?
the angle is realy steep the bike would slip with a person
wrong... its so you can't make a false start.... the lowest guy has to go in front, so it does not matter if the other 3 gets are "cheating"
I challenge somebody in track cycling to do a power study of air vrs water inflation. Riding light is completly overrated and useless as I found out from testing air vrs water myself. I personally own a 7 and 12 pound disk both of which I constructed.
jason howard hahaha try getting up to speed and holding it. It's harder the heavier the bike is.

The clock doesn't stop til the last rider crosses the line
the clock doesn’t stop until the third rider crosses it. That’s why they can drop a rider
