So in the June 2024 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo showed off a little game called Super Mario Party Jamboree, and as somebody who has made tons of Mario Party retrospectives, I couldn’t be more excited for this new Mario Party. In fact, I’m so excited that I have created a 20+ minute analysis of the Super Mario Party Jamboree trailer! Superstars was a good game albeit lacked in side content, this one seems to be deviating toward ideas from ALL entries in the series while not completely abandoning the series' roots. This better be a 7/10 at least
I like the idea of old Mario Party boards returning in new games, like Retro Tracks in Mario Kart
The larger Bowser that glows purple is likely a result of Kamek animating that one statue that we see for a brief moment, when Mario, small Bowser, Peach, and Yoshi are on the hot air balloon going to the big island.
I believe the Japanese website confirmed online for regular boards.
I think NDCube and Nintendo knows that Online play has to be there day one now.
I just hope that the game isn’t as painfully slow as the first super Mario party. 60 minutes for 10 turns was too much

Rainbow Galleria honestly seems to be the board I wanna see in Goomba Greedy Gala, but unlike with that board where it fails to be a consistent board, Rainbow looks way more interesting and can plan your route.
I’m just glad we have more than 5 boards, and all of them are unique in their own ways.
It helps Rainbow Galleria isn’t completely flat
Yep imo a Mario party has to have at least 6 boards. Anything less and it feels lacking, the replay value takes a big hit. I never thought about there not being enough boards when there was six
13:00 Boo bell item is confirmed to be returning from the official artbox so you probably can use boo to steal coins/Stars so there are probably still boo spaces that allow you to steal form other players.
There are, you can see them at the Wiggler and Goomba boards, and the retros probably have them too
I know this won't happen, but I hope they give us the option to pick which minigames we want to include and exclude in a game just like Mario Party 4.
They kinda did that in superstars with the ability to choose which era like n64 GameCube etc and had a family option so hopefully they bring this feature back since this new Mario party feels like if superstars and super Mario party had a kid with the best of both worlds mixed in. 😅
Bowser appears to be enchanted on the boards. Maybe it's the transformed Magikoopa.

Warp Boxes were actually in Super Mario Party, but they only appeared in the 2v2 mode. I'd imagine they work similarly in this game to how they work in Star Rush and The Top 100, where they're basically just the same as Warp Blocks.
10:38 if you look in the back, you can actually see a sign indicating that these are bumpers, so you’re most likely right.
on the japanese website it says the regular 4 player mario party can be played online with friends or with randoms just like superstars

I think Chuck definitely isn’t a playable character and more of an npc, in that clip where he has the name Danny above him you can actually tell that Daisy is in fact the one with the Danny name tag not only with her icon being next to it but if you slow down the clip you can definitely see Daisy behind Chuck.
12:10 I'm sure the Goombas retire to their homes during hightide...or maybe they sacrifice their bodies into (what I'm going to call) the Goombolcano to erupt as golden versions of themselves.
i can't wait for this game. I am more excited for this game than the new 2D Zelda or Mario&Luigi

Sweet! I was just watching through the retrospective series and was hoping to see what you thought about this new game.
I did notice that there seems to be two different item shops, most easily seen on Goomba Lagoon. And with the item Waluigi is holding that seems to be a -10coin space, my guess (or lofty dream perhaps) is that the purple shops are hex shops! There also seems to be only one of each in Rainbow Galleria (I may have missed one though) so I think the different happening-spaces in front of the shops is another way of giving out items for this board! It may also seem like Bowsers Keep is a new spin on a linear board? It's a bit difficult to make out but it seems that theres a grey pipe in the far back that leads back to start. And is it just me or does that purple spot to Bowsers leftlook like a big version of that possible hex item?

I don't know if this was already stated, but in Roll 'em Raceway, when Toad uses the quadruple dice, he passes an interactable spot by a stump with a boo sign by it. this could confirm your boo returning theory, as well as maybe indicating that the quadruple dice item acts similarly to the mega and mini mushrooms in Mario Party 4, where you aren't able to interact with board events while you're still moving.
I really hope the boards here follow Superstar's with the last 5 turns variant theme

I think Charging Chuck is meant to be a partner character.
Its listed as Daisy because they are on Daisy's team
I really hope that we get DLC for this. I know 7 boards and a ton of new mini games is a lot of content, but I'd love to see some more N64 boards and some from Mario Party 8, like Shy Guy Express and Koopa's Tycoon Town
I think the Danny Chuck MIGHT be a thing just for that minigame. Danny, the daisy player, has control over Chuck for this event for one reason or another.
Also unlikely but here's hoping for Vivian as a DLC char.
I’m very pleased with what we’ve seen so far! It’s really cool how they’re taking the Mario Kart approach with both new and old boards! Like with Coinathlon, I hope some of Super’s mechanics like character dice and Partner Party will return in some shape or form. I’d love to see those ideas be tweaked or expanded upon! Also the environment design looks INCREDIBLE!? I love how colorful and detailed the boards are, especially Western Land!
I think the Wiggler will wake up and move to the right, changing the "townsquare" shortcut. You can see at the top and bottom two intersections that lead towards the Wiggler, and to the left of the top arrow and to the right at the darker forest area two leaves that indicate where you leave the Wiggler
I'm beyond excited for Jamboree. Hopefully it will make future Rec Room installments of Mario Party's dark age worth it for you. 😅
2:17 I think Daisy had something where she somehow possessed Chargin' Chuck the way Cappy can possess anything for Mario to control in Odyssey.

14:57 I'm thinking that if you ring the bell, Wiggler will move all the way around to face to look at that bell, so its face will be by the bell
Something else that I haven't seen anybody mention before - the Chance Time spaces are now Green instead of Blue.
That's gonna effect the minigame type at the end of each turn.
9:17 I think that's not a Boo Bell, just a regular bell that triggers the sale events, though Boos and the Boo Bells are also back
And the racing board may be closer to the DK board from DS with how it's all one big loop where u get to buy a star each time you reach the finish line
The gimmick to the Goomba board could be similar to Shy Guy's Jungle Jam's river events, where the river overflows and forces players to stick to a loop, and the boos stealing coins and stars are probably just normal Boos, if there's lots of Goombas around despite a Goomba being playable, Boos can steal stuff just fine despite a Boo also being playable
And there's something curious going on with the shops at Mario's Rainbow Castle, becuase they seem to be two sides, the standard purple, and a red side, so maybe they also rotate alongside the main tower

Something to note: the wrap block has already been an item in Mario Party Star Rush and Top 100 and Super Mario Party. In SR and Top 100 it warps the player to the space of a rival meanwhile in SMP it was only available in partner party mode where it warps the user to the space of their teammate. My theory is that it will warp you to someone's space rather than swap places, similar to the warp space from MP4 and springo candy from MP8 (I'm sure there are few other similar items, but those came to mind).
Ps. fun fact, the block is also seen in Mario Party 10 when you land on a Bowser Space it'll warp the players to Bowser.

Now that mark haha has made a video on it, I can now finally have an opinion about Super Mario Party Jamboree.
Jokes aside, it feels reassuring to see that Mario Party finally seems to be in a good place again. For the first time in over a decade, I was able to look at a new Mario Party game and not have a bunch of concerns pop up in my mind. The only baffling thing I've seen so far is why they brought back 2 N64 boards here instead of putting them in the game that's literally about bringing back N64 boards and a ton of minigames, or at the very least, why didn't they finally bring back some GameCube boards, but whatever. Mario's Rainbow Castle and Western Land are some of the best choices they could've made. In general, I really hope that the pacing and item management is good. Don't have the excessive amount of animations that Super had and don't just hand out golden pipes like candy like in Superstars.

I wish they'd bring back the MP 6 and MP 7 orb system. Creating trapped spaces added such a fun element.

I think I suddenly understand the UI order format during the board game: it's based on what's coming next, with the item in the bottom left corner being the thing that is currently happening, and everything on the right being what follows; like a timeline of sorts. That would explain why the order appears to be different sometimes, as well as the presence of a Minigame and Homestretch icon.
In the current footage we have of Rainbow Galleria, we see that a Flash sale begins, and in correspondence, the "Flash sale begins" icon is in the bottom left corner. But when it's Ninji's turn, Ninji's player stats are in the bottom left instead, with the "Flash sale icon begins" icon gone and every other thing moved up a spot as well, revealing the "Homestretch" icon on the far right. In the Roll 'em Raceway footage, we see that Toad's player stats are on the far left as well since it's his turn, but his icons are followed by the "minigame" and "homestretch" icons before the other players; that actually seems to indicate Toad moves last in the turn before the minigame begins, whereas Ninji in the Rainbow Galleria board begins first. As said before, this "timeline" UI also explains the presence of the "Minigame" and "Homestretch" icons; they're upcoming events, NOT current events (TBH that also does make more sense for the presence of the "Homestretch" icon, since the homestretch is always on the last five turns, which would begin at Turn 6/10; Turn 5/10 means there's 6 more turns to go).
Until proven otherwise, I'm going to say that Goombas and Bloopers have actually been the same species this entire time and they can change form at will when they wanna go in water or get out of it.
Imagine Mario Party creating new lore for the Mario universe. Miyamoto will not be pleased.
Excellent analysis. I share your critiques of overinflated economies in the last two Mario Parties, but comments like the golden pipe being overly powerful on a specific board I just don't get. That's awesome to me since it's only on one specific map. Makes the strategy of that board more interesting and unique imo, as long as it's not a problem throughout the whole game. Anywho, well done!
Something really cool with the retro boards is that you'll always see a bit of the design philosophy on the developers based on what they change. Adding a junction to Western World is super promising since it gives the feeling they want more decisions to be possible, in any case I really can't wait to see what these boards look like!
something I'm starting to notice is there seems to be a lot of things that could have unique interactions based on what the players choose, Bowser being replaced by the stone bowser statue, Boo stealing his own stars, Yoshi running around without anyone riding on his back. it's all really similar to that one secret where monty would have a mortified look when you play that one whack a mole minigame

Unfortunately, I think the Charge and Chuck was part of an 1V3 minigame where the 1 player turns into a charge and chuck.

The return of Bowser as a playable character does raise a lot of questions. I wonder if the Bowser board will change if you're playing as Bowser or maybe they'll have some sort of witty dialogue acknowledging the fact. Bowser being playable also makes me curious if Character dice have a chance of coming back since he was kind of the poster boy for the Mechanic, especially since they're sticking with the Super moniker
Super Mario Jamboree is coming in scratch in the end of July. You can also add your own minigames by a studio
I think roll’em raceway will be really fun. If the star is static then the emphasis will be on circulating the map as many times as possible. tying in to the racing aspect of the map
But then the map is centered around high rolls and nothing else, maybe using some items to land on the happenings but that's it.
10:54 This actually looks exactly like DS' -10 Coins Hex, which might explain why it has such an unique frame.
I believe each of the four stamp events in Rainbow Galleria have a balloon with varying imagery. I noticed a coin, red shell, and shy guy mask.
I'm guessing the person to pass a booth for the fourth stamp (each pass would equal one stamp) will be rewarded with an item specific to that booth.
Edit: Oh also, just my guess that the flash sale in Rainbow Galleria will occur every 5 turns.
I don’t think there being no banks will be much of an issue personally. They could potentially adjust prices of items, Boo etc to help balance everyone’s coin counts
Do you think they will? They added Lucky Spaces, nerfed banks and lowered the item prices in Superstars lol. They don't get coin economy or balance.
I saw people complaining about it being “Super Mario party” it’s literally just a title… it’s still Mario party and a new good one at that. It reminds me of star rush which I thought was a pretty decent game. I’m super excited for a new good fun Mario party game made with heart.
The items that look like hexes from DS or traps are not exclusive to the racing board, they are on the window of the 4th shop in Rainbow Galleria.
Also Inbelieve the purple shops run by Kamek will only sell traps.

I think the option to use a pro-controller brings the question of how many motion control minigames there are in total because if the minigames are separated into their respective modes, e.g. rhythm, koopathlon minigames, narrowing down the selection even further means even less minigames in the rotation for the actual main board mode. There might not be many motion based ones in the final product but if there is, I hope there's many minigames compatible with the pro-controller. Maybe there'll be a toggle in the options to allow a way to play them without the joy-cons but it's looking unlikely. They managed to get around the motion restriction with the return of 8's chosen minigames from the past installments, so I hope there's an update in the future for it. Still looking to be a really great game besides that, though.
We saw Ninji as an unlockable character, I wonder if there is one for the hero side. Maybe Pauline or Diddy Kong to celebrate the DKCR HD release
Some thoughts I thought you didn't mention are that Mega Wiggler seems to be reminicent of Windmillville (Mario Party 7) and while Goomba Lagoon looks like it functions similar to Bowsers Enchanted Inferno, I'd argue it's a remix and remaster of Castaway Bay (Mario Party 6)

I’d honestly think that Motion Control Minigames would be used in a completely different mode.
1.I hope that when you play the normal mode online with random people if someone gets disconnected that person that disconnected is replaced by a computer and not have everyone disconnected that is annoying
2.i hope that your friends can play with random people with you
3. I also hope that there is more items that takes coins away from your opponents
The two returning courses were most likely a holdover from a scrapped Superstars DLC. Saved for this new game to beef up its roster. That sadly means there was Never going to be another Mario party 3 board for superstars

I really hope this game is good. I personally like bs luck games like Wii Party a lot so if this game can mix genuinely good boards and party modes with stupid side modes then it will be a peak party game for me.
