  • Searching For Happiness is a New Short Movie co-directed and produced by G. Brian Benson and Nye Green.
The film’s inspirational message shows one man’s journey to overcome his loneliness and depression by seeing interactions with others in a different light completely changing his black and white world. This motivational message is simple yet powerful: We find true happiness in life and bring peace in the world when we change our perspective on how we see things!
What people are saying about "Searching for Happiness":
“ Beautifully shot, a touching story and I love the black & white to color changes! So well done!”
“How can I be happy? This short film answers the question completely”
“Amazing! I always feel emotions when I see beautiful happenings, and I felt it here. Thank you, for reminding us again what good deeds can do for others”
“First class! Wonderful! The music, acting and directing were all exceptional; the message was sublimely beautiful. Loved watching this film - it has lifted my day and put a smile on my face. Thanks for helping to make our world a warmer, lovelier place to dwell.”
    Director’s Statement:
Telling a story that shares the importance of helping others and the fulfillment and joy that comes with serving in this way, is what I had in mind when I wrote my new film, “Searching For Happiness”.
People chase happiness in many ways and often never find it. I feel rewarded when I give without expectation of receiving something in return and when I experience random acts of kindness and I sought to convey this message in the scenes of the film. By using the black and white/color dichotomy along with a simple and powerful piano score it is my intent that each viewer be moved by the deeper level of the message and fully understand the meaning by the end of my short film. I also dipped my toes in the old silent film genre because I am a huge fan.
Thank you for watching! Please enjoy my new personal growth short film: "Searching For Happiness!"

Yes, happiness is a choice and it's up to them to intentionally choose it every single day. Happy people are not held hostage by their circumstances and they do not seek happiness in people or possessions.

    Visually stunning, great music.
Okay, here goes nothing: I’m autistic and I find myself completely in the dark as to what story is being told. Autism: being unable to read behavior in people without dialogue. And it frustrates me immensely that I don’t get it, because it’s so obvious to everybody else.
    Would somebody explain? Please?

    • @GBrianBenson
      @GBrianBenson  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Cali...thank you for the kind words about it being visually stunning and for the music. I appreciate that! To answer your question. Basically the main character is unhappy. He is unsure why and is desperately trying to figure out why. He is even reading about how to become happy but it isn't helping him. So throughout the film he witnesses random acts of kindness by others. And as they happen those involved colorize. It's just a way to make the point that those who interact with and help others can find an authentic version of happiness. So at the end when the main character kind of by accident returns the ring that dropped to the women, he finally understands that to find happiness one needs to connect with and lend a hand when we can. So he then colorizes as well as he understands that. Does that help? I hope. Feel free to ask more questions if you need to. Thank you for watching our film. Sincerely, Brian

      G. Brian Benson Thank you so much for taking the time to explain. I watched it again and now it’s even more stunning. And -wow- sums it up nicely.
Thank you so much for explaining. It’s often said autists lack empathy but that’s not true; we don’t understand. And it’s through your explanation that I was able to emotionally connect to the characters.
And, the film being what it is, I think you may understand what your explanation means to me, what it has done for me: helping me connect to others.
And to see the message of the film reflected in your actions; I struggle with finding the right words but things like admiration, respect and hope tumble through my mind. Thank you for explaining and thanks to all involved for making this film, thank you so much.
