Macao is back door town where lots of Chinese migrants from Mainland China made their way to Hong Kong escaping the aftermath of the Great Leap Forward in the early 1960's.I am one of them and I was a baby.

Dat weidse uitzicht vanaf 01:00 is heden ten dage niet meer mogelijk door kitscherige casino torens en blok flats uit de jaren ‘80. Ik kan ook zien waar ik nu woon. Op 1:20 kan je een kleine heuvel zien rechtsboven. Dat was vroeger een eiland (Ilha Verde) met een cementfabriek, tegenwoordig is dat dmv landreclamatie verbonden met Macau en staan er appartementen. ENGLISH: Beautiful images from days long gone. I’ve been living in Macau for 6 years now and hardly recognise it from these films. It was very village-like back then and much more pleasant. That wide view at 01:00 is not so wide anymore today due to gaudy casino towers and 80’s style high rise flats. I can also see where I live right now. At 01:20 you can see a small hill at the top right, this was actually an island (called Ilha Verde) it was a concrete factory before and once that was over it was connected to the main island of Macau due to land reclamation. Nowadays it’s an industrial area with apartment buildings as well.
