  • Clothing donation boxes are a common sight across Houston, often placed in convenient locations for residents looking to donate items. However, some business owners are questioning how these boxes end up on their property without their consent.

One thing for a fact. They put one down in a Walmart parking lot without even talking to Walmart and my boss said get it out of here and they had to pick it up and take it out and get it off the property.

They did it at a Sam's Club near me also & I don't think it lasted one month.

They place them everywhere, and don't ask permission to be placed there.

I have seen homeless people reach on the boxes and pull out the clothing. They create a mess.

Or people dump trash around these things. Like Tires Appliances and broken furniture.

Whatcyou can do is call them, tell them you have a big donation. They will call you back for sure. Then inform them to remove it immediately or you will have it removed. They will come and remove it.

If a homeless person tries to root through a box and gets injured, is the property owner responsible? Seems like an 'attractive nuisance' situation.

Also want to add there are many legitimate services that pick.up donations from your house. Charity Clothing Pickup is awesome. You can schedule pickups online and leave the clothes outside. They pick them up. I donate constantly, like once a month. Don't want to just throw things away and hope someone gets use out of things.
If people donate through legitimate organizations, these boxes will disappear eventually.

These boxes should be banned. They are worse than goodwill profiting off of free goods for people in need. From now on all donations should be scanned and inspected and sent to local shelters or facilities for children.

Why waste the channel's time on private matters if no one complains? Burger King can easily take them to court, they're not that poor. 🤔 News channel should concentrate on people who really need help to resolve their issues.

Would you like to know something? A lot of you people have commented cannot believe that donation boxes are more prevalent? This is in Florida correct? I thought that most people that went to Florida we’re older and had a sense of God in them. One comment said that the people that go through them make a mess. I don’t think you understand what desperation is. It’s not about someone judging, it’s about needing to make a mess. Maybe they aren’t pretty and they would like to find a pair of pants that fit them or a book that their child would like in their age group. and, the people who make a profit on the used donations I probably in a contract with the police to arrest homeless people that need something like a toothbrush or toothpaste. I’ll be the first to admit that I used to do that. And if there was one in front of me I wouldn’t make a mess. I would just take all of the bags throw them into whatever I had that was a vehicle and I do have a legal vehicle and I was born here and speak English and believe in Jesus Christ… And the things that didn’t fit me I would neatly back up and put back.
