I bought mine at Freedom Honda . Same color. 4,032 miles . It is interesting to note that models sold to other countries had duel front brakes. I put case guards , upgraded the rear shocks, new seat when the original wore out. A lot of the that needed to be done was either Libby's or two guys in north haven or wallingford ct. not sure. 6 gears. I liked it when i saw it was the mini sport fairing , and gas & alternator guages. Took it to Montreal Canada. Rare find in excellent condition. All the XJ models were well built . Sold it with 45,000 miles with plenty of life left . I had to replace the mufflers . went with a kerker header
My brother had the white version of this. At the time I had an new 1983 Honda XL600r and these two bikes would run neck and neck up to 105mph. Good times!
@@deborahchesser7375 absolutely! Not sure if they all ran the same or made the same power as they got newer but man it was really a surprising engine! I also ran against a buddies 1981 Suzuki GS 750 and he couldn't catch me till around 60mph. Seemed pretty decent on gas mileage as well. I'm almost thinking about finding one like I had just to relive how much fun that bike was....it was THAT good!
Hey Ken. Just wanted to say I hope your New Year's going awesome so far. And this may sound like a strange quote. I just wanted to say those hardwood floors in your Museum are absolutely gorgeous look like there's 50 coats of clear on them whoever keeps them up does an amazing job. Well take care of my friend and keep on keeping on.
Absolutely gorgeous xj550 Yamaha never seen a finer example.
loved my old bike! This was one of my best low service bikes ever! makes me want to buy it!

Tom Rynkewicz I’ve been eyeballing an 87’ , I didn’t know they ran out like that. It should make a great dual sport shouldn’t it?

Always thought it looked like a Giant RD! Loved it.
Yamaha XJ550 was my very first road bike 30 yrs ago and I miss it :(
I had that exact model bike I had. I bought it brand new in 1982. I would love to have it.
That xj-550 was/is the middleweight champion of the world. That brand new example is ready for anything museum, daily rider, even cross country☆☆☆☆☆
Barry McCokiner true, both good bikes. As far as small displacement bikes the RD/RZ’s can’t be touched
Sweet bike! Here in Colorado we ride between storms hahaha. Gotta go dig my garage out today.
I guess I’ll have to move up there where it’s cold to be near all those gorgeous bikes 😎
I had to spray ether into my '82 Seca 550 to get it started. Still I really enjoy that bike.
Those floors look great.
the cowel headlight turns it from a grandpa bike to a cool bike
